Jesus fuck the mass effect 2 ps3 demo is awful and I'm not even talking about framerate or whatever making you watch half a fucking hour if cutscenes in a demo is a bad fucking idea.

Also in what I played of the demo I only got to use a handgun a grenade launcher and some creepy looking black guy that could use the force, they should have at least gave me a machine gun and put me in a more interesting scenario with more abilities so I can get a better taste of the combat of the game.

But that is the context of the game. Also mass effect is a story based series. Ps3 is getting the sequel without the first game so showing as much story as possible is the best way to incite interest in the game among ps3 users. It's the beginning of the game and that's the best way to show off the game and what it's about.

Then let those fucking cutscenes in the final game and let people see what the gameplay is all about in the demo, this demo was so boring that it killed any interest I might had on this series.

Out of my little pile of games accumulated over Christmas, I made the unfortunate choice of firing up Castlevania first. Starts off ok, if a little generic, but then everything grinds to a halt with the slow "Bog" level. Just not feeling it.

I think I'm coming around on Planescape... it's starting to hook me a bit now that I got out of the first town and did a ton of quests. I'm not a fan of the early parts in american RPGs, where they give you a huge ass town to explore, and you're spending hours upon hours talking to everyone just to get quests... when you actually are doing the quests, that's more interesting. Just got the chick with the tail in my party and am heading over to the tenements. How far into the game is that would you guys say?

Unfortunately, there are problems with my video card and the game, and I had to turn software sprite mirroring on... this makes the game run so sluggish when a ton of enemy sprites are on screen. I learned I can install the widescreen patch to fix this but apparently if you do that you have to start from the beginning, fuck that.

The first couple chapters are the worst in the game. It picks up toward the end of chapter 2. The last few chapters kinda suck too - the game peaks in the middle.

I think one of the bigger disappointments for me is the lack of exploration, which is my own fault as I went into the game cold, just assuming it would have that element.  I'll probably try to keep slogging through it.

i'd say it's hard to measure how far into the game you are because i remember 90% of it being quests/convos that weren't essential.  are you tracking down the guy that has yr journal or something?  because that's still really early on in the main quest.

I explored the catacombs and the town, and met up with Pharod (the dude with the journal), now I got Annah (chick with the tail) and am told to leave the town through the Tenements. Yeah it feels like 95% of the game is spent in conversation.

I wouldn't want to ever replay Planescape and I like it. It's just not a good game. The same people who tout Planescape hate on Xenosaga. Well at least Xenosaga 1 has awesome dungeons.

Baldur's Gate 2 will always and forever be the better wrpg.

I like Planescape much better than Xenosaga though, so far. Something about that game did not sit right with me at all. I hated nearly everything about it, it was one of the most sluggishly paced RPGs I've ever played. Only about 35 hours it took me but it felt like an eternity. And it's a shame since I was a huge fan of Xenogears.

Been playing some Darksiders the past few days after I got it during the sale. I really like it so far, although the combat does feel a bit repetitive at times when you're fighting the same enemies over and over. Not really a huge problem though since it's just a really fun game to play. The comparisons to Zelda are apt, as you fight your way through various levels and get upgraded gear and items along the way that allow you to access new areas. Definitely worth the paltry sum I paid for it.

i've never really played a zelda game for more than 10 minutes so i have no frame of reference regarding Darksiders. to me it's mostly GOW but with a slightly more open gameworld. does that describe zelda then?

one thing I really like are the bosses. the game does a great job of having you do something unique to fight them which usually requires some skill you used during that "level". much better "big boss battles" in Darksiders than in Bayonetta   :-*

i just finished ghost of sparta in 3 sittings, really enjoyed it and was surprised that ready at dawn got so much out of the psp. it always looks great, the controls work really well and since it has a fixed camera you don't wish for another analogue stick, has no loading either (when running off memory stick) and it has the same "epicness" the console games have. just starting valkyria chronicles 2 and at about 30min in most the va is annoying and aiming with the analogue stick is a bit annoying when lining up head shots but maybe i'll get used to it

Yeah, I liked it but Braid was better.

The first half of the game when it's all mysterious and has creepy creatures and kids getting murdered and you want to know more about the world is really good.  But I though the second half's shift to gravity puzzles and focus on puzzles over atmosphere/world/story made it finish on a less exciting note.

I got and finished Limbo too; it was pretty good.  Average-ish puzzle platformer with unique style and great atmosphere.  Later it kinda loses that atmosphere and the puzzles become more just "time this correctly."  And maybe I'm crazy because I haven't seen the comparison elsewhere, but it really reminded me of LittleBigPlanet for better or worse.

anyway, games like this make me hate how you can't rent downloadable games like this because I just spent the 800 points for like 3-4 hours and I don't think I'll play this again.  This is the type of game I would rent if I had the choice.  But w/e, what's done is done.

Never really liked Braid all that much. I liked Limbo alot.

But then atmosphere and my interest is generally what drives me to play games like that rather than strictly puzzle design. Limbo was interesting to me. Braid never was.

i like the first one a lot,it's as classic as 3D platform gets (tough the stage are linear so i'd say kinda like R&C but without the guns) but the 2nd and the 3rd got turned into lame GTA clone, with minigames and lame character switch tough i seems to be in the minority for my dislike about the sequels

Sly Collection.

Still amazing games.

Are those games good? Need real-talk here. Similiar to Ratchet or J&D?

Sly 1 is one of the best platformers last gen. Sly 2 can be fun but they decided to include a bunch of bullshit instead of just refine on what made the original great.

neither Jak nor Ratchet are anything like Sly. Sly is Metal Gear mixed with Mario. It's about sneaking and platforming on top of secret places to avoid enemies who you can otherwise kill, but it's not as fun to do so. Platforming and sneaking past alarms and doing cool shit while stealing some old piece of personal treasure is what Sly is ultimately all about.

And it owned.
