Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay [2009 edition]
I really want to like this game because it does a lot of things right, has some pretty cool locations and atmosphere, and Vin Diesel is cool in it, but the gunplay and controls are just not very good. For one thing, it's got some seriously annoying mouse smoothing going on, so the reticule feels like it's always jerking around and nothing moving nearly as smoothly as it should. Moving also feels really weird, like they're going for some king of realistic, momentum-based scheme, but it just comes across as awkward and counter-intuitive. Aiming is awful too because every gun I've come across so far basically just sprays bullets across a wide area, but enemies will hit you from a thousand feet away every single time and also have a huge amount of body armor forcing you to attempt to shoot them at the head [which is really hard because of the nature of the way the guns work]. I suppose the intent is to make you rely on stealth more, but there are a lot of places where you just can't play stealthy and keep from getting shredded.
It's decent enough to keep playing, but I can usually only stand twenty or thirty minute intervals.
