Giant Bomb did a TNT of MUA last week cause Ryan felt like it and he claimed that two is ...very much not as good unfortunately. Bet you could find it for sub-$20 though so it'd not be a huge risk to see if ya dig it or not.

It's a fun FF and that's something a lot of FF's forget to include in their games.

But the story is pretty weak.  However, because the gameplay is so fun it's probably the most enjoyable to replay FF.
I like JRPGS for battle systems and largely ignore plots so FFV and FFX are the most enjoyable to me. FFVIII and FVII is just a step down on the second tier.

X? X sucks for gameplay. You mean X-2?

Also FFV's story rocks because it's DQ in FF.

FFV isn't what I consider the best FF but it's factually the best 2d FF. FFXII, VIII, and V are my favorite FF's.
No I mean X, the battle system is an evolution of the job system in V. X-2 just makes it much more obvious. (p.s. i loved the x-2 battle system)

Well all final fantasy games are really an evolution of a previous game. Let me rather clarify by saying I liked the turn based nature of the actual fights in X and I liked that you could play to a "job" when selecting the standard sphere grid but also play as whatever you want when opening it up to the advanced sphere grid.

Also Magus, you're wrong about FFV not being balanced. The only broken tactic I used while playing was giving all my mages the bare hand ability so they output high levels physical damage if need be.

wow what a surprise magoose is being a fucking distinguished mentally-challenged fellow again

ya know there are always several times where i feel like keeping my mouth shut because everytime i say anything negative about a game someone likes the internet always react worse than if i told them their favourite soccer team sucks everytime,i don't like job system?

"OMG YOU ARE BEING distinguished mentally-challenged AND YOU LIKE FFVII LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL"

you guys are acting distinguished mentally-challenged! >:(

if the system was balanced there would be no job that is clearly worse than the other or a job that is clearly better than the other, take dragon quest 3,there isn't a warrior that is better than the other warriors, sure you have the sage which is a better mage but it's a natural progression,it's not like you have multiple types of mage and some of them have stuff that is worthless jack shit and other hold the keys to boss fight that last 2 turns, there isn't a job whose skill is to call squirrel so that they can deal 1 digit damage to the enemy nor you get to the end by farting in the final boss face and killing him in 3 hits, that's balanced

now take dragon quest 7,they added broken combination skills like sword dance, added jobs that learn useless stuff like thief and now the whole thing is a broken mess, and it doesn't surprise me at all that when they made dragon quest 9 suddenly stuff like combination skills or monster jobs were gone

actualy i have an even better example, looks what square-enix did when it came to rehash the job system, did they fix it up?

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Final_Fantasy:_The_4_Heroes_of_Light_Crowns

nope, they added even more pointless junk

but noooooooooooooooooooo, since i think this i have to hear moron on internet calling me names :maf

and the thing that makes me all pissy is being certain that if i said the same thing but changed the game to... say... FFTA,nobody would have given a shit because that is perceived as a shitty spinoff

GUYS IF YOU GRIND OUT CERTAIN COMBINATIONS OF HIGH LEVEL ABILITIES (that you'd have to find out through a faq since the game doesn't tell you what abilities each class will learn) THEN YOU CAN TOTALLY BREAK THE GAME.  DON'T YOU SEE HOW STUPID IT IS :derp

once again, the point is that you can be a ninja and duel wield the shit out of super weapons,or be a berserker and.... get equip axe?
if this was balanced the berserker would have a skill as good as the ninja does

4 Heroes of Light is a pretty crappy game regardless of job system.... dunno what point you are making

the point i was making is that instead of fixing it (like dragon quest 9 did with dragon quest 7) they added more shitty gimmick jobs, there is one job that doesn't work unless one of your party member is dead, does that sounds to you like a better idea than punching things until they are dead?

You dont get Ninja until later on in the game, and your "super weapons" arent until near the end of the game anyway. Axes arent that good either. You're more than welcome to grind out these super skills and jobs, but I can still beat it with a team of Thief, Geomancer, Berzerker, and Chemist.

Berzerker's benefit over Ninja is that they are a beeftank along with high strength and defense. The tradeoff is that you are Berzerk'd. Why would a Berzerker need a super good job skill?

Ninja might as well be a piece of tissue paper. Would get torn to shreds.

I'd say thats pretty balanced :whistle

I really don't care what 4 Heroes of Light does, you could rip that system out and it would still have the doodoo battle system in place.

you still get ninja well before the end of the game,FF3 gives it to you right before the final dungeon and that's how it should works

because otherwise there is no reason to be a berserker over the other melee classes

Quartet (Master System) - simplistic platformer that's been a bit entertaining
Panzer Dragoon Zwei - made it up to stage 5, die, and then have my stupid battery die so I lose all my save data. Luckily I think I'm actually improving in the game... really cool shit, didn't know about multiple routes through the levels.
Dragon Quest IV DS - grinding Metal Kings to beat the chapter 6 boss.
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - up to the final round of the final chapter tournament. Seems I'm finally getting near the end...

This weekend it's all about Xenoblade, gonna catass the game all weekend and see where I end up. Looks like I am wrapping up the main story, but have a million quests to do before the end.

So I'm about 4 hours into Radiant Historia. The whole time travel thing seems to be pretty well done so far. And while I'm enjoying the battles I can see myself getting bored with it pretty quickly. Does it ever become more interesting/challenging? Maybe turned based rpgs just don't do it for me anymore.

If Perfect Dark Zero didn't have such sloppy controls and enemies would go down faster, I think I might've liked it a lot.  Those aren't its only two problems, not by a long shot, but it's still sort of morbidly charming...the incoherent and gaudy real doll meets blade runner art style.  The extremely simple take on deus ex's multiple approaches to levels with different gadgets.  Large (badly designed) levels each with a unique motif.  Cool weapons.  Actually surprised no one copied four slot equip system.

Every so often I play it and hope it's better than I remembered.  It never is.  The controls are so bad.  Enemies literally rain armor and it takes a clip to take them down.

Kameo clearly was originally a regular Xbox one game - just look at the characters faces, gah(and yeah it was a Gamecube game before that, wtf took them so long?), and is also rather obviously a Rare joint.

every other character you gets comes with gimmicks, but the one you are going to abuse the most is the little loli girl, she can place trap on the grounds that deal huge amount of damage,so the whole game become's a matter of pushing enemy into them

one of the character gets a move (altough at a pretty high level) that put all the enemy right at the center spot and after you get him,you can basicaly clear any battle simply by putting a trap at the center and then using that move

you shouldn't expect much from the battles, you have probably already seen every enemy the game has to offer because they recycle the shit out of enemies, the actual story and scenario is what's good about radiant historia and that's like... really fucking good but if there was a budget,it went all to the composer and the writer

i've been continuining that pokemon conquest game but i'm really disappointed, when the game told me "here's 33 extra scenario!" i tought they would do something interessing with them but a good chunk of them are basicaly a repeat of the main game with weaker enemies, heck in the first one you even start at the same position and the only thing that change is that you play as hideyoshi instead of the main character
even worse all of the unit you used in the main story and the other extra scenario all have the pokemon they had when you left them so if you gave an overpowered pokemon to one of them, you get that pokemon back as soon as they join you again which makes the whole thing even easier
it's a shame because i really liked the first 6 hours

I just sat through the credits of Raymane Origins. It's a game made by like five programmers and upward of a hundred "brand managers". I wonder which of them came up with the idea to subtitle it "Origins."

There was no hidden level or easter egg. An utter waste of time. I'm pretty sure Ubisoft is a religious cult.

Started playing STALKER: CALL OF PRIPYAT again

I didn't play very much before due to some technical issues but that seems to be resolved. The last thing I remember doing in the game was assaulting a merc base to steal a laptop. i remember it being super difficult since there's like 20 mercs and they're packed to the teeth with weapons and armor. i eventually did prevail.

today i go to do that same mission and i figured, there has to be a better way. so i decide to scout the base a bit from a far. sure enough i found a ladder that lead to a pipe that goes right to the laptop... i quickly jump in and steal it. i guess i didnt bother checking if anyone was around cuz the base goes nuts. i scamper away and book my way out of the base.

the game seems much more open than the Shadow of Chernobyl. I dunno if i'll play it through all the way but i'll put some hours in it.

Played some Strider 2 at the arcade in the Chicagoland area. I was really surprised at how much fun it was. I've never played it before. Beyond just looking cool and having a cool atmosphere, the gameplay was really easy to get into and jumping around everything was great. Great art too.

Got surprised with a rental copy of Ghost Recon Future Soldier... apparently the youngin thought it was "too hard" compared to the action packed blockbuster Call of Duty. So I made fun of the little semen for it and started playing it myself.

This game is casual mode on Elite... they have a new "Sync Shot" mode where you pretty much line up all the targets and tell your squad to kill em off. You maybe have to shoot 3 bullets in a level.

Think this is a possible ios update problem or part of the game story?

Batman AC and SSFIV AE, got a Panasonic UT50 plasma on the weekend, fucking awesome set and my impression of 3D tech is much better now. For some reason I can't stand 3D at the movies (only sterescopic experience is with Dolby Digital 3D) and the 3DS was cool at first but the finicky viewing angles soured the experience. Playing 3d games on this set is awesome though, haven't tried any movies yet. Also picked up an SFxTekken madcatz pro stick. I still suck but I can see myself playing a lot more and actually improving now. Maybe I will finally get into fighting games. Looking at some more casual fighting games to pick up too, latest MK looks like the most fun to me.

So I'm finishing up Borderlands and I decide to move on to Moxxi's Underdome. I thought the circle of duty missions were some bullshit so I'm finding it hard to believe somebody thought it was a good idea to base a whole dlc around the concept. Does it get fun if you play it with other people, and is there any worthwhile reward for completing it, or should I just skip it altogether?

I hear that. It's a new feeling.

I opened up the EARLY mission with giant, purple, spitting crabs and died about a half dozen times before giving up. I finally looked at the mission briefing, and it was "Level 15 - Hard" and I was level 7 or 8 at the time.

Well it's strange.  I just opened up the Mothrakk (so i'm currently lvl 21) and the monster is listed as level 25, though the mission itself is lvl 20.  It constantly one shots me after I manage to hit it.

but it would finish a story mission and then be told "great now go here" and "here" is like 4 levels up from me, so I would have to go through whatever instance i had just finished a few times to get up to a level where i won't die horribly really quickly

i'm playing a support soldier who is relying upon his Scorpion turret a lot.  I had tried to be a damaging soldier but I just got the shit kicked out of me at the second boss repeatedly until i went online and read up on builds

Could be I got lucky with my early guns and that compensated for any level difference I didn't notice. I kinda cheated Mothrakk by getting a vehicle with rocket launcher and just spamming it from a distance. Most the rockets miss but it's so damn big that you can hit it fairly regularly.

I was using my turret almost constantly. Way too useful not to be throwing it out whenever you have the opportunity and it's fair to say I was using it as a crutch early on. I pretty much used a support mod for the entire game. I kept think I should try experimenting and then thought I couldn't be arsed to start picking up ammo again.

Played some Deus Ex: HR and more FFV. DX: HR is a great rpg and the questing so far really tickles my exploration gland. It reminds me of the more personal first person rpgs, so far, like Bloodlines, in that there are numerous ways to handle each individual quest and each quest gives you a little bit of a meal to chew on by expanding upon the world. I'm in love with the atmosphere and world here.  I don't think the writing is nearly as good as Bloodlines, however, but the stealth, level design, and combat are certainly better. If the original DX is anything like HR but better I'm sure I'd like it. I may give it another shot.

It's just refreshing to play a modern (for the most part) rpg.

Seeing adverse make a bunch of progress in Daifukkatsu lately has motivated me to get back to Daioujou. I've forgotten a bunch of stuff since I last played, but it's slowly coming back to me. I really should start writing down all of the small, yet crucial details I find so I can easily refresh my memory after taking a break from something. :-\

I also got 424m in Akai Katana a few days ago. I think I could take AKF's #1 spot on the XBL leaderboards, but I'd have to have a run that's literally perfect to edge him out by a few million. I don't think that's going to happen.

I started playing Bulletstorm too. That game seems alright.

Deus Ex HR is so good. Love the main dude

I just love the gravelly voice and how mad he is. He didn't ask for this.

His voice acting sucks and you don't get to see his badass robot arms in favor for a fruity ass coat with one texture. What gives?

I like how the pro-human people want the UN of all things to moderate enhancements. like the UN stopped being a joke in two decades.

He wears the coat to hide his mechanically augmented body.

It's why nano augmentation is a big deal in Deus Ex (1).

After all this Deus Ex talk it'll have to be the next thing I play. Picked up the pack from steam this weekend and was happy to find it included the augmented edition. Been listening to the soundtrack that came with it regularly since I got it.

Borderlands PC is such a piece of shit though, I cant buy that without feeling like a leper.

Sure, it was a shitty port but you can fix the visuals by editing the .ini or, for lazy people like me, by using Borderlands advanced settings tool. Can't do much about the UI but I've been using a pad so it wouldn't make any difference to me.

I'm pretty good at wearing coats, actually. His coat is gay, speaking as a coat connoisseur.
