To anyone who has completed the game: where are the "infinite" respawns supposed to happen? The game has all the other COD traits like monster closets and check points that make enemies behind you magically disappear, but I haven't noticed this one yet.

thought they fixed this?

The fuck? I hope that's fake. They bothered with patching COD4, only to have this slip through the net for the sequel?

HAZE ALL OVER AGAIN!

I haven't played Haze, so I wouldn't know. Completed the game, pretty awesome overall. Still need to complete a couple of the first levels on Hardened. The first act was critically meh, but the second act and half of the third more than made up for that. The last two missions (listed as two, play seamlessly) are shit, but that has more to do with the story than anything. Best mission, and possibly the best mission in an FPS ever

Sorry man, I didn't get the Hardened edition, yet.

By the way, the complaints that people elsewhere have made about infinitely respawning enemies are unfounded, at least on Hardened. I can't recall a single instance of even prolonged spawns. Weird spawns, yes, but nowhere near the style of the previous games.

multiplayer is too hectic, too many airstrikes and helicopters and other shit going on. i prefer the simplicity of cod4

map design is great; graphics are exactly the same. ranking system is a joke, i constantly got matched up with people ranked 40+ at level 1

Should have expected as much, but one of the custom classes has an AT-4 as a secondary weapon (bling). Should help a bit against the choppers. I downed one with one rocket, and a UMP clip. You also get point rewards for shooting down choppers and UAVs, so there's some incentive to actually take them on.

Then again, everything rewards you. Kill someone, get a reward. Get killed, then kill the dude who killed you, and you get rewarded for the kill and for the revenge. Oh, and if you do that with the class mentioned above, you get a Bling reward.

I wouldn't mind it at all if they dropped the narrative altogether. Just put out SpecOps mission packs, because that's obviously what they do best. I don't think the CQB missions are better than those in R6V (judging by the best tactical missions, I'd guess that IW has been playing those games a lot), but the sets are much more interesting.

Doesn't have matchmaking and no one I know has it yet so I can't say anything about co-op, but the few missions I've played have been cool. I'd guess that they will be OMFG in co-op. And looking at the list of later missions, these first ones look downright lame in comparison. There's one mission in the first tier that is lifted straight from the SP, it's a stealth mission and it is awesome.

Oh yeah, Gamestops in Ohio and other north eastern states are selling it early

So... what the hell happened with the plot with the last third of the game? Did IW just forget to write it? It's like they came up with a bunch of action movie tropes that sounded cool, but they didn't know how to connect them logically so they didn't bother.

Unbelievably disappointing story aside, I was amazed by how goddamned polished this game looks. The graphics, the cinematics, the HUD, the gunplay, the sheer amount of weaponry, it's insane. It makes MW1 look like a dusty old last-gen relic in comparison.

Still, IW fucked up the PC version, and their ignorant bullshit towards that market is too much to ignore. Maybe if it's marked down enough in a year or so I'll get it then.

Well, I disagree with the graphics bit. It looks decent enough, and runs at a fairly steady clip, but you'd be hard pressed to find a single decent texture in the game, and the environments generally feel really static (their much ballyhooed dynamic objects be damned). It really doesn't look better than MW1, but the environments are a bit more open.

Now, the weapons on the other hand, god damn. I'd intentionally pick up lower powered weapons like SMGs just so that I'd get to use them more.

Why wouldn't air support count towards killstreaks? I'm not sure if the weapons crate rewards do, that would be a bit lame. Hopefully they add a playlist that removes the whole slot machine element that the supply drops bring to the game.

This was prevalent in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 during Team Leader matches. Hosts would often say DO NOT TOUCH THE EXTRACTION, and chances are you would be kicked.

This leak is going to make it a bitch for newcomers. The maps are much larger and a lot more complex than anything in COD4, so knowledge of the maps makes a huge difference. Having a bitch of a time trying to learn the maps while being chewed up by other players, their killstreak rewards and whatever rewards those damned crates hand out. the twist (final third of the game?) was fucking crazy and i was in a state of shock when i witnessed it. Because of that, what you did in the ending was so satisfying to me.

I just learned that Russia invades America in this one? What a crappy story there.

Russia invades America two days after an American citizen is found to be one of the airport shooters, and the whole thing is unresolved after

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Captain Price, who was in a gulag (lol) for 5 years is rescued, breaks into a Russian naval base, and shoots a nuke from a sub at the eastern US seaboard, detonates it in the atmosphere (which destroys the International Space Station and kills all the astronauts on board) in order to cause an EMP to knock out all electronics in the area. This somehow stops the Russian invasion despite the Americans also being crippled and the fact that the Russians also invaded the west coast too, not just the east. Price and Task Force 141 act like the war is suddenly over because of this, with no perspective from the outside world or the media shown like in MW1.

It turns out the General that you're working for, was, uh, somehow maybe working with the Russian terrorists, who are rebels despite the government in Russia apparently having the same pro-Zakhaev views as they do (apparently all the stuff in MW1 didn't make a difference or something). I guess Russians just can't be trusted, being evil and anti-America is their natural state of existence.

The General was using the invasion as an unspecified "blank check" for no real reason, because his troops were killed in the nuke in MW1 "and the world just fuckin' watched." I don't get that at all, since the nuke was portrayed as like a shocking huge tragedy and I'm not sure how losing your soldiers to a terrorist nuke justifies creating a secret army and plotting an invasion of America or whatever the hell he actually did, it's not explained at all. Then the General says that "tomorrow there will be no shortage of volunteers or patriots" so I guess his plan is essentially ripped off from Metal Gear Solid and he wants to create a world of war??? Oh and Soap and Price are now wanted terrorists because the General, like, framed them somehow, so they kill him like the very next day.

It makes no goddamned sense. It's like IW's 'writers' took Red Dawn, Metal Gear Solid, and every Tom Clancy novel and shoved them together.

i think your over analysing this a bit, my simple take :P

spoiler (click to show/hide)

the general just seems like a dude that just wanted glory and was willing to do everything to get it (including taking you out, sacrifices, completing demonizing marakov,).

And with the blank check (which i assume is his ticket to getting/doing anything he wants) he uses it to hunt down marakov in an attempt to kill him and be a great hero.

As for his line i thinks it just means that he'll always get volunteers and patriots to serve his cause regardless of how many are sacrificed.

He basically just used the actions Soap and Price did under his orders and turned them into actions of terrorist intent.
