I'm starting to get really tired of Arthur's plot armor, it's honestly getting ridiculous.

Creepshow 2019 is so good halfway in. Feels straight out of the 80s & 90s comic horror camp. I’m sad it’s only 12 eps because I don’t want this to end. Hopefully they do a few seasons.

The Blacklist continues to be a fun background binge watch. One of the better action oriented binges. Watching Agent Ressler obliterate a lawn gnome with a kick out of frustration was one of the funniest scenes I've seen on TV. Also no one should have as much on screen charisma as James Spader.

Hah; put S1E1 on about 30 minutes ago.

Guess Netflix decided to recommend it.

Itches that almost mindless procedural itch but keeps a strong thread going that connects everything. Seems to not take itself seriously at times too which is great, cuts through the dourness. That's all on Spader.

The Affair almost done (second to last ep. aired yesterday).
I'd really like to ask the writers what their mental process was, to have such well written and interesting duo of main characters, and constantly insert them in this soap opera level drama bullshit, for no reason at all.
If they had made a season 6, i'd expect them to have an alien invasion.

I started it recently and it was okay. Never too hilarious, but overall engaging. Stopped halfway through 5 for now, since the humour and the way it tries to be melancholic becomes repetitive and wears thin after a while. I like how you can spot when Trump was elected, because it starts to preach at a certain point.  :doge

Netflix' Daybreak is a quasi-YA mishmash of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Walking Dead and/or Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

It's not great. I enjoy the fact that Matthew Broderick is on board for this tribute to his 2nd best film, and I like the 4th wall breaking narrative in this context — but there is far too much telegraphing and not enough gonzo (I prefer Savage Steve Holland's 3 O'Clock High's style).

2 of the characters (Noah and Hellen) are really good, but the whole mystery murder plot is out of place shit (and in further season they come up with even stupider shit).
Allison is alright, and Cole is shit, instead.

I'll watch any old scifi shit that gets broadcast, so I'm going to recommend the critically panned Another Life on netflix as a really great hatewatch.

Because it's not a scifi show. Its a low budget teen horror flick, where its a bunch of stupid self-obsessed millenial arseholes acting like dicks, and then being killed off one by one.

Its glorious :lawd

  • It doesn't know wtf it wants to be, so half the show is an Arrival knock off with scientists on earth trying to figure shit out and the other half is a BSG reboot knock off with a crew in space potentially representing whats left of humanity all alone and out for vengeance
  • It has a pretty great conceit, that it has a ton of backup characters in stasis, so whenever their computer guy (or whatever) gets red-shirted, they just defrost a new one :lol
  • It makes a super strong case that we should probably let the military handle shit like deep space expeditions, and not just a bunch of random fucking millenials who wanted to live their best life and do the most stupid shit you can imagine

:awesome renewed for another season  :awesome

Liking the Ducktales reboot, dig the visuals + humour, but there are some absolute :snore episodes peppered throughout S1. Of course, usually the ones excluding Scrooge and the boys.

Really enjoyed Black Spot off Netflix, I'm hoping there's an S3 as I've read S2 didn't get any good numbers in France.

Almost done Jack Ryan - not as good as season one but still entertaining.  Also, I guess they can't use Clark as he's getting his own movies.

edit:  the plot is super over the top, especially the end.  It's like the plot to a rainbow 6 game.

saw an episode of Room 104 last night. Really cool show, with a cool premise. Every episode has a different unrelated plot, by a different director, and oftentimes in different genres, but the setting is always the same hotel room. At least the episode I saw was very good.

Yeah, he's different by LEAPS and BOUNDS from how he was presented in Sandman. I've always meant to read the comic, but never got around to it. The show, he's mostly an egocentric, lovable goof, and the chemistry is pretty good between the key players.

What a fascinating trainwreck of a final episode, final season and overall show.
I'd really like to sit down with the writing team on this one, and try and decipher how you can write such nice characters and moments, next to some of the worst crap you'll see.

I'd put it below Game of Thrones, in terms of finale, but still better than Lost and, *holy trinity hand gesture* Penny Dreadful, which still detains the worst fall off of a show i've ever witnessed.

I actually listened to the audio book (not the full cast version) a few years ago. Loved it and it's been fun watching it on screen, but fuck they should have made it one season, not two.
