Nun is the best part
Agreed.

Ok, the second half of the episode was better.

I though I thought they were going places with Harker being Dracula's bride but no - this does just seem to be LGBT lipservice.   The wolf birth scene was great though.

Harker is his bride, or would have been if he didn't self-terminate.

Yeah they already felt like spinning their wheels on season 2.
I still would've liked more of it, but i'm not too upset about it.

Watched the first episode of Fleabag.

This kind of femme-empowerment through self-ridicule usually irritates me, but I'm finding this kind of endearing. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also hot in a kind of "ugly-but-interesting" way too.

Introducing your character by having her fucked in the arse is also a good way of making me interested too.

Yeah episode three of Dracula was actually abysmal. The whole thing just was all over the place, and basically trying to setup characters and a pay off within one episode was just too much.

As for the ending, fucking lol, least he can't come back I guess.

Oddly, I took it to mean s2 would have Dracula exploring his newfound mortality. I'm happier if it's a "limited series," which is not what it shows. It reads, "Season 1."

Moffat and Gatiss just wanted to do a thing I think. I enjoyed it more than most ppl seem to have but that third episode was a fucking mess. I'm basically with it until Gatiss himself shows up. Kinda felt like that second half of the ep is what they really wanted to do and it's just...weird..and bad. I kinda like the ending? but they don't do any real lifting to sell the connection so it just feels shoved in. They should have tried to make it way more romantic than w/e the fuck they gave us. Should have just kept it a period piece as well.

Basically more Claes Bang and Dolly Wells. Less every fucking thing else?

Finished watching The Witcher. It was fun, though I actually thought the last ep was the weakest because I don't really care about mage battles. Cavil is great but he doesn't really talk much. Hopefully he'll have more dialog in S2. I thought the best ep was the dragon hunt.

Penny Dreadful probably my favorite show that no one else watched. It ended on a rushed but solid note (I think SHO clipped their budget and told them to wrap it up before it's time) but I loved it. Eva Green killed it, Josh Hartnett killed, Timothy Dalton killed etc etc. Great show if you're #gothboyclique. Glad their giving the production team another shot. Some returning cast members but none of the big heavy hitters. Still excited.

I should note that this new show isn't related at all. It's more a spirtual sequel but yeah, PD was great. Even if the acting in this one is lower the production design is gonna be A+. That was actually a big marketing point of the first because it was the baby of the production designer and writer behind Skyfall and I think Sam Mendes (lol now) is still a producer on it.

Not enough  :nope in the world.
The way they ended PD in the first place i wouldn't touch anything they do with a 10 foot pole anyway, biggest "fuck you let's wrap this shit up" i can remember, for a show i was invested in.
But then this doesn't even look like it's trying to remotely go for the show's gothic vibe (its greatest asset, after Eva Green's divine abilities, which they also don't have anymore), so i don't see the point of calling it Penny Dreadful in the first place.
They had so many possibilities and potential with the first show, and they just threw everything in the garbage, and now come back with this Black Dhalia shit?

Part of me loves that s2 of Netflix' (Teen) TITANS is giving non-linear storytelling. But I also get confused when they've added dream sequences between what parts are hallucinations and which parts are actually in this timeline.

Haven't watched this yet but it looks like they're playing the same characters from CH.

If it helps, most of the episodes are only about 15min long.

Ya it's same universe.  They also do a retcon like 15 mins into the first episode that I thought was amazing without having ever watched CH.

Finished Titans s2 -
Part of me loves that s2 of Netflix' (Teen) TITANS is giving non-linear storytelling. But I also get confused when they've added dream sequences between what parts are hallucinations and which parts are actually in this timeline.

The nonlinear stuff disappears quickly, which makes it feel like an afterthought on how to continue.

I've read elsewhere that the s2 ep1 was originally s1's finale, which makes sense, if they had not been renewed and needed to end the series quickly. There's apparently promotional material touting the death of a Titan, and that happens, and it's utterly stupid and a wasted opportunity.

I'm also sick and tired of sarcasm and aggressive talk at allies as a writing device for exposition. I know it's difficult to expose a character's inner monologue, but the in-fighting bullshit is just so commonplace these days (see also: THE EXPANSE) that it rings lame and false and cheap.

Holy shit, Avenue 5 is terrible but how? I want a post-mortem on this show asap. Looking at the talent involved, this should’ve been a slam dunk. What the fuck happened?

Oddly enough, Josh Gad doesn’t bother me in this—he may even be better than usual.

I watched it...was an unfunny mess...It's basically a Sci-fi mish-mash of Love Boat/Gilligans Island/Lord of The Flies which sounds amazing but yeah one of the worst shows I have ever seen.

It actually gets worse as it goes along, it's pretty mediocre with everything except psycho Superman, in my opinion.

The concept of "superhero world from the common man's POV" gets abandoned real quick, in favor of just another superhero story, but with the edgy bent of more violence and swear words, which is why i think it gets "worse" as it goes along.
Even the main protagonist forgets about his dead GF by like, episode 3, just to have the predictable romance sub-plot with the supergirl.

I figured that was where it was heading. I think the only character I was interested in from episode 1 was Karl Urban's. Everyone else seemed a bit blah. He could go full comic book ham really fast though, so...

Yup... it's that weird combo of light hearted / edgy that can be fun if you get into the mood.  If you wanted to watch the main character mourn for 8 episodes I'm not sure you are watching the right show.
Then it shouldn't try to have its heartfelt moments, too.
If you undermine the emotional depth of your characters in the name of edgy fun, you cant expect me to care about the straight man's internal conflicts.
I wouldn't expect a character epiphany when i watch Crank.
This constantly bounces from trashy fun to attempting poignancy, i think it should stick to one.

I did call it "entertaining", anyway.  :yeshrug

Shockingly, Bojack Horseman ends on a downer ending for almost everyone concerned, if anyone was sticking it through to see if it had anything uplifting to say or was going to make any kind of redemptive arc.
