f2p games are time killers. the idea is to grind grind grind. if they put in content that required lots of strategy them it's alienate ppl and that's not what they're going for

Dropped Unchained, just can't do these games.

Transistor is 50% off (2.99) with a few other games.

Same.  When I heard the "story" doesn't kick in until like mission 90-100  :doge

Even if the missions are like 30 seconds, the repetition of doing a 100+ of these things is way too tedious.

I've played gacha games before. I should know better.

from what i played it seems like an ultra simplified chain of memories

I mean, kind of? There's really not much in the way of decision making going on other than "attack one" or "attack all".

Everyone download Space Marshalls. It's free now and no freemium crap attached to it.

It's a two thumb, tactical shooter. Controls well, has a really nice graphical style and some semblance of a story to keep you engaged.

I don't have it. I had my fill on the game years ago, it's not something I found very replayable.

Most reviews I read said the controls were fine, maybe a little small if you had big fingers.

Warbits is out; it is an Advance Wars clone. It's a buy-once game, no IAP. Apparently it is offered at an introductory discount.

I played it all the way through on a 6+ about a year or so ago and it worked really really well.

Any of you playing FFRK? Prototypical f2p phone game imo. Can pick it up while you're making a poop, play for five minutes, and then put it down again. Or you can sit there and play for hours on end. Not too hard but not too easy. No pay-to-win bullshit. Tons and tons of content with more continuing to be delivered in weekly updates. Also really scratches that 16-bit FF nostalgia itch for anyone yearning for the time when the FF series didn't suck shit.

Was the SaGa series good enough to dig into the SNES and PSX installments at this point? Only ever played SaGa Frontier in the '90s, which I liked at the time. I love old RPGs but I'm getting to the point where I'm too old and impatient for the endless grinding and random encounters that were both so prevalent during that era.

Gonna peep RS2 tho regardless

SaGa seems to be extremely divisive. Either you love it (me) or don't (a lot of other people).

It does subvert a lot of JRPG tropes though. It has a lot of typically western aspects to it: non-linearity, open worlds. The earlier games have random encounters, but Romancing and Frontier don't. They also tend to build on the experience system established in Final Fantasy 2, so if you hated that then you'll probably not like how SaGa's progression works.

So I didn't know that Big Huge Games had made Dominations, so I had been avoiding it. Its art style is utter f2p dog shit, but it is more like Age of Empires than the Age of Empires Castle Siege f2p game is.

SaGa is basically what would happen if you combined the leveling systems of later Elder Scrolls games, the questing of most open world RPGs and the look and feel of a traditional JRPG.

If you're cool with non linear games and really bad balancing then you'll like RS. The games needed just a bit more TLC which I'm hoping this iOS version got.

I played a bunch of it when it first came out. Really enjoyed it for a while. Of course, the F2P stuff wore on me and I decided after a few months to uninstall before wasting any more time on it.

Yeah, I'm sure there's a point where I'll walk away from it. Right now I'm in that Honeymoon Phase of short build times and low-cost improvements -- and slumming around easy multiplayer kills because people have started the game and done nothing with their HQ.

I can't get over how UGLY it is, though. AoE Online was gorgeous, had a fantastic illustrative style. This looks as crappy as any of those generic "hidden object" style games. Particularly in its amateurish and generic type use throughout. Horrible.

I bought RS2 at $18.

Graphics and music are top notch. Controls not so much. I get that they wanted to keep it super close to the original, but they could've redone the menus to actually work on touch devices and left everything else alone. Its playable, but it took some adjusting.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is pretty cool, much better than Record Keeper at least. Gonna mess with the story stuff then stop when it just turns into a grindfest.

I was wondering what the catch was since it's F2P but really easy right now.  So they add new content that is way beyond most people's levels or something?

no,  people would just quit if they did that. I'm assuming it's like every other f2p, where they put caps on how much you can play each day, put in minor goals that are just out of reach without grinding/paying, and have timed events where you have play multiple times a day if you want the best rewards for free,

Right, breadcrumbs like that would make more sense.

The systems for limiting your time and tempting you to buy stuff are there, but easy to skirt at the moment.
