I still wish that SpOck had stuck around and we got the original Spider-Man back, too.  (Via a clone body or whatever)  Would have been fun having an evil Spider-Man running around, especially since Venom is no longer a bad guy and Carnage is nothing like him.

I feel like Venom is good when used as a plot device for something else. Kind of like Bane.

I read the two issue DC arc that came out recently where Wonder Woman goes into Gotham and cleans shit up.

Felt like the biggest missed opportunity ever. Shit could have been incredible, but they wrap everything up in like 3 panels at the end.

gotham is fucked. wonder woman would have attracted wonder woman like threats to it. it is a hive of scum and villainy

You can't post this and then say that you like Anti-Venom.   :P

Original bad-guy Venom was awesome.   Anti-hero Venom was not.  Carnage was unnecessary.  Much later on, Mac Gargan fucked-up Scorpion-Venom was OK and pretty cool during Dark Reign as fake Spider-Man.

Flash Thompson 'Military' Venom is OK with me.  I don't think he should be in Guardians Of The Galaxy, however.

then someone felt the need to off him and ruin eddie brocks progression.

Then they took Eddie Brock and turned him into Toxin.   :dizzy

Read Invincible Iron Man: Extremis 6-party by Warren Ellis.  Was fine.  Nice art, not a lot of dialogue, popcorn story & action.  Since there's only like 6 other issues in the series and if they're anything like the first 6 and take 5 mins to read each, I'll just finish this run of Iron Man out.

Going to read the rest of Remender's Uncanny X-Force and the connected Age of Apocalypse and Wolverine and the X-men soonish, but taking a break from all this X-stuff.

Starting up Planet Hulk now because I'm sick of reading good comics and with everyone talking about Civil War I want to blast through the last decade of big dumb MARVEL EVENTS so I can stop getting accidentally spoiled all the time.  I want to do it chronologically so planning on reading this over the next couple of months:

Planet Hulk
Avengers Disassembled
Cosmic Marvel (which I get is pretty separate and takes place all throughout the 2004-2011 arcs, but just gonna read it all when it starts)
House of M
Civil War
World War Hulk
Secret Invasion -> Dark Reign
Age of X
Avengers vs X-men
Axis
Avengers/New Avengers -> prep for next year's Secret War

When I get burnt out on that stuff I'll read some more short arcs of good comics.  There's some stuff I want to get to, like reading all 700 issues of Amazing Spiderman and starting Superior Spiderman, reading the Bendis good Daredevil stuff that's extremely wordy, Deadpool, Avengers Academy -> Avengers Arena, reading the good Fantastic Four arcs, Black Panther arcs, waiting on Hawkeye 2012 to finish and reading it straight through since the team's Immortal Iron Fist was super fantastic.

Pretty happy with the Marvel Unlimited year sub for $60, getting a looooot milage out of this and now I'm starting to understand what's going on in comic world on the Marvel side, which should make me more interested in the Marvel movies/tv shows as well.

Btw, what's Earth 616?

iPad2, yeah it's great.  Only probably is the resolution is so low on the old iPad2 that sometimes you gotta zoom in a little to read clearly and sometimes horizontal spreads are scanned horizontally so you have to zoom in and read it.  Marvel Unlimited is my biggest motivator for upgrading to a iPad Air2 when it comes out, that and the future of mobile jrpgs.

Marvel Unlimited definitely has flaws like horizontal spreads being scanned wrong, or issues that JUST DON'T LOAD on the mobile version (out of 100s of issues I've read this only happened with 1 issue on Old Man Logan and I was able to read it on the web version), and certain series being missing (stuff like Alias which was recommended here and basically everything pre-1998 is often like random issues); but for catching up on post-1998 to present Marvel it's pretty good and I'm definitely getting my money's worth for $60.

616 = "real" continuity

Ah, ok that's what I figured.  Just wondering where the "616" term comes from.  It's kind of a random number.

Nobody mentioned the death of Wolverine.  I don't see anything posted about it either, so I guess nobody cares.   :lol  Wonder how long he'll stay dead for...will it even be a year?

So how did Wolverine meet his demise?  Well, you can go ahead and ignore the first three issues of the four-issue Death of Wolverine limited series.  They're absolutely pointless and have almost nothing to do with the fourth issue.   :clap ::)  They're about Wolverine getting attacked by various villains because he has a bounty on his head.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
In #4, Wolverine makes his way to TOP-SECRET WEAPON X-STYLE FACILITY #49823894923 and finds Dr. Cornelius, the same guy who gave him adamantium, working to try to produce more Wolverine-like soldiers, and constantly failing.  The doctor is much older and crazier now, telling Wolverine that attempts always fail because no one has a healing factor to withstand the process, but that there's a small tolerance built up within the body that he's extracting to create a healing factor-style serum from.  He wants Wolverine's healing factor to complete this, hence the bounty from earlier.  Wolverine shows him that his healing factor his gone, so the doc gets some enhanced armored flunky we've never seen to try to kill Wolverine, which fails.  Wolverine chases the doctor and in the process dumps a vat of liquid adamantium on himself to stop it from being bonded to the test subjects, chases the doctor, who dies from shrapnel from a broken window (lol) and then drops to his knees in the sun and dies, 'frozen' within the metal like Han Solo was in Star Wars.  LOL if he gets revived in a similar way.  :lol

Does anyone even give a shit about any comic characters death? The always come back.

Everyone except for...

So Jean is gonna come back and resurrect him now, right? Just to stick it to Scott.

Jean!   :lol  Although we have time-displaced Jean Grey instead, who along with the younger Beast, Iceman, and Angel, are all trapped in the Ultimate universe.  The last issue of All-New X-Men was a Jean/Miles Morales team-up, which translates to DIALOGUE DIALOGUE DIALOGUE DIALOGUE and nothing else, because Bendis!

One theory I could see happening that cleans up the "mess" left by Schism/AvX relates to the time-displaced X-Men.  What if they have them all return to their own time, with their memories intact, and choose to do things differently?  Then suddenly you get a completely different present time with Wolverine, Prof. X, and even Jean Grey back alive with everyone living happily in New York again.

Probably an unlikely scenario.  I see Wolverine coming back from someone injecting his corpse with some shit that restarts his healing factor, or even cheesier, it restarts on his own and he comes back from the dead.  Something stupid like that.

How is that they've fucked up the team line-up?  Here's the classic X-Men 1991 #1 cover:

That team is supposed to be Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Gambit, Rogue, and Psylocke (with Jubilee sometimes there).   Storm, Bishop, Jean Grey, Iceman, Archangel, and Collosus were on the other team.

i wonder what the other occupied lands are.

and attilan rising and the end ultimate sharing a land? is the end of the ultimate universe? or will that dying corpse kick out of the pin one more time with even less characters?
