2nd SRW OG gameplay!

They're totally showing off with that Cybuster attack at the 4min mark.

But that's ok because I love me some Cybuster :rock

ARGH, NEED TO START OGG SO I CAN PLAY THIS AT RELEASE DATE.  I refuse to play 2nd OGs until I play OGG since there's real story happenings to the character arcs (especially Masaki) in OGG that take place before this.

Importing? The NA release looks identical to the JP release aside from different cover art. Only $60, too!

English dub :P

Unless you're going to tell me they're going dual-audio.  But Team Kojima never does that, so I doubt it.

Thanks to the HD collection thread, I found out that my ZoE2 art book that was like $20 is worth $300 now :O

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Visual-Works-of-Anubis-art-book-Zone-of-Enders-Japan-/260949947018

I picked up a pretty large selection of game/anime art books in my 20s, I kind of wonder how many rare treasures I'm sitting on these days.  Not that I'd sell them though.  The ZoE2 book has the entire game script which is a cool read.  Plus a PS2 disc with bonus missions or something.

3. Import the game anyways and have fun playing it

Visually that looks really nice if those aren't bullshots.  How do the Macross PS3 games look in PQ?  Clean image or jaggy mess?

And yeah, I mean I'm buying 2nd OGs for sure.  Just that between working full time 50-70 hour weeks, teaching a weekly 2 hour Japanese class (which takes like 6-8 hours a week to write the 2 hour lesson since we're not using a book and I'm writing the book as we go), trying to work out 3 times a week at least, working on other social activities for my club (this week it's making an intricate halloween costume and setting up a group outting to Book of Mormon), and going to social events (have a party Fri, party Sat, BBQ & Japanese lesson on Sunday), I literally have zero time to game anymore.  I play maybe 30 mins of gaming a week.

I'd like to fit games back in, especially SUPA ROBO games because they are the bestest, but they're also very, very long and sadly most aren't portable :(

Those shots look way better than the Frontier and DYRL games. And those were pretty nice, if not technically impressive. They were pretty simple, too.

Sorry to hear that Bebpo, hope you get more gaming time. 30 mins a week is far too little imo. I'm really looking forward to 2nd OG, especially if it has an Ex-Hard mode. Just finished Z2-1 and Z2-2.

SRW does tend to have have long campaigns, but it's faster paced than most tactics games. If you skip animations and cutscenes and ignore skill points you can blow through modern SRWs pretty quickly.

Here's a vid of me clearing Z2-1's final scenario. It's a no pp/upgrade run and I finish in 2 turns. 188 turns total.

Seeing how 2nd OG and RGG5 come out within a week of each other, it's going to take me some time to play through 2nd OG. I'll probably play through it once, though, not going through every storyline.

I still can't believe how fucking nuts the graphics are at full-res in 2nd OGs.  Sure the animation isn't anything too fancy (lot of cutins to hide actual sprite animations between poses), but the overall visual polish is just something on a level never seen before.  I cannot wait to play this.

Put the video quality to 1080p and expand the screen size to full screen before you watch:

It looks great. Probably the highest quality 2D animation in any turn based tactics game to date.

I hope they don't go overboard with the EX remake stuff. If we end up spending half the game in La Gaias fighting the same enemies with the same crew it'll get boring.

That's why there are route splits :)

Plus I'm sure they'll work other storylines into the La Gaias stuff.

Will be interesting if they fully cover Masou Kishin 1, Alpha 2, MX, and D in this game.  Sets up 3rd OGs for Alpha 3, Masou Kishin 2, and whatever else.  Maybe start into Z1 territory though I think at most it'll be a guest character like Rand.

Having just finished Z2-1 and Z2-2, I'd like to see some of those characters appearing in an OG. I'm sure there are lots of SRW fans who feel the same.

You better get some time to play 2nd OG!

Anyone buying EX Troopers?  I liked the demo and I see that P-A is selling the Asian version for $50, but I'm still not sure if I'm going to buy it.  With just a story mode and co-op game play, I think it will get old pretty fast.  Wish it had a versus mode like Lost Planet 1/2.

Screw it, ordered it since at that price with Fedex shipping it ends up costing the same as buying a game from a brick n' mortar store.  Let's do co-op.

I went with the cheapass free shipping (Can't beat $49.90 for an import game), so it won't be here for a bit. But yeah, I'll do co-op when it gets here.

EX Troopers has been pretty boring so far.  Way too many cut scenes and dialogue all over the place, followed by incredibly-easy "missions" that you can complete within a couple of minutes.  I hope things get better.

My play-asia order of 2nd OG is being "prepared". I'm still trying to finish Alpha Gaiden before it arrives.. might be able to rush through it.

I think I might be the only person here playing it anytime soon so I'll try not to bump the thread too much.

Well I've been playing 2nd OG for about 6 days now. Up to scenario 42. I have a playthrough log up on gfaqs. It's an easy game. Feels around Alpha 3 level. Grunts collapse like tissue paper even without upgrading. The first 16 scenarios being generic grunt filler doesn't help.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/929920-dai-2-ji-super-robot-taisen-og/64790429

Gfaqs is still full of obnoxious fanboys but there's no bigger open SRW forum to post a playthrough log.

If I can afford the $229 cost of a JP 3DS at play-asia I might consider getting SRW UX..

Apparently nobody wants to talk about 2nd og here, but I'm still playing it. Beat the game once, 1 turned the final scenario with no pp/upgrades.. should be able to do it again on ex-hard mode which I just started on. Ex-hard is only slightly more difficult. I'm recording video of my ex-hard playthrough. Check out the playlist here:

You know, I pre-ordered this game like 2 years ago from NCSX.  The day it went up and I didn't get that book :(

With how little I import anymore I might switch back to P-A for a little until they fuck me over like they usually do every year or two.  The only imports I'm even planning on picking up for Q1 are DQ7, SRW UX, and MGS Rising (if it's not region locked :\).  Would get that new Disgaea team game but I barely game anymore so I'm only going to pay import prices for stuff I'm going to play for sure in the next year.
