even PC gaming has been boring as fuck for years now. Nothing really exciting, really unique. It's just high resolution ports of console games these days. The new Microsoft Flight Sim is the first time in forever I got excited about anything on PC. Arma3 was maybe the last exclusive that shattered anything available on consoles. Battlegrounds was unique, then it got ported to everything, and then it went to total shit.
There was Mechwarrior Online, for a while. I guess VR stuff is still cool but still
, the headsets get replaced every year a half now. Even the mod scene is kinda dead. I mean, we still get crazy mods for SKyrim, BUT THE GAME IS LIKE 10 YEARS OLD NOW. I did really get into the original arma / dayz scene pretty heavily back in the days, it felt so fresh back then, then the dev sold the concept to a big pub and it went to total shit with the release of the stand alone version.
Super high framerates are fun, that ray tracing stuff is fun too, but after a while, you're still getting the same games than console games. I'm so fucking disappointed in what pc gaming turned into for the past 5-10 years. I miss when we had a legit advantage over consoles. Remember how insane Morrowind on PC looked compared the xbox version?
PC Gaming is starting to feel like the arcades in the second half of the nineties, when we were able to get what felt like arcade perfect ports at home. It was good enough.
What was the point of going to the arcade anymore? It wasn't worth the premium or time, and it fucking sucks. I get that for devs, it's better for them to aim for weaker hardware. They can reach more people, and make money.
