That Trackmania Xgames thing looks really fun actually.
Everything else looked mediocre (PoP) to bad (Immortals).  :-\

Prince of Persia looked so fucking bad.

As a fan of the series it's depressing that they're not even half-assing, but quarter-assing this remake and then when it flops PoP will die for another decade while they stick to AC and other Ubi games.

What they should've done is put out a gorgeous 4k ray-tracing all that visual bullshit good direction Platformer like 2008 but way better and less boring (more challenge too). If it looked great like 2008 but even better with modern tech/IQ/resolution it'd turn heads and get early next-gen sales regardless of if it's actually good. And if it was good and sold well they could branch it back to being an active series.

But nope, with this they've pretty much just killed Prince of Persia...again.  :-\

Looks to have the budget of a game made in the Middle East anyway.

Turns out the game is actually made by Ubisoft India.

Speaking of which I'm shocked that 90s Super GP is still not out. Originally meant to be out on Wii U. Used to be known as 90s Arcade Racer. Wonder what is taking so long. But maybe the dev bit off more than they could chew initially and that's all there is to it in terms of a timely release.

IIRC, the developer wants to get it finished and released, but Nicalis owns the rights and isn't doing anything with the game.  He moved on and released The Takeover since then.  This reminds me that they also never released Yatagarasu for consoles, either.

Hotshot Racing is the same type of arcade racer, BTW- Sumo staff who worked on the Outrun 2 ports and the (good) Sonic All-Stars and Transformed racing games also worked on it.

Huh. That's kinda strange. I wonder why they wouldn't want to finish it up? Nice to know though that the dev was able to continue on a different project.

Nicalis is weird with some of their releases and their CEO has had some controversy for his behavior and business practices.  IIRC the game Kero Blaster's story is based on the Cave Story creator's dealings with them, lol.  There's still two Vita games they never released, but some promo(?) copies of them got out into the wild and sell for ridiculous amounts of money.

even PC gaming has been boring as fuck for years now. Nothing really exciting, really unique. It's just high resolution ports of console games these days. The new Microsoft Flight Sim is the first time in forever I got excited about anything on PC. Arma3 was maybe the last exclusive that shattered anything available on consoles.  Battlegrounds was unique, then it got ported to everything, and then it went to total shit.

There was Mechwarrior Online, for a while. I guess VR stuff is still cool but  still :larry, the headsets get replaced every year a half now.  Even the mod scene is kinda dead. I mean, we still get crazy mods for SKyrim, BUT THE GAME IS LIKE 10 YEARS OLD NOW. I did really get into the original arma / dayz scene pretty heavily back in the days, it felt so fresh back then, then the dev sold the concept to a big pub and it went to total shit with the release of the stand alone version.

Super high framerates are fun, that ray tracing stuff is fun too, but after a while, you're still getting the same games than console games.  I'm so fucking disappointed in what pc gaming turned into for the past 5-10 years. I miss when we had a legit advantage over consoles. Remember how insane Morrowind on PC  looked compared the xbox version?

PC Gaming is starting to feel like the arcades in the second half of the nineties, when we were able to get what felt like arcade perfect ports at home. It was good enough.

What was the point of going to the arcade anymore? It wasn't worth the premium or time, and it fucking sucks. I get that  for devs, it's better for them to aim for weaker hardware. They can reach more people, and make money.

PC still has the advantage in developing markets, but I feel like 95% of people who regularly play PC games have low-to-mid-tier systems and/or don't play a lot of hardware-demanding games anyways.

But that's been the same story forever in that respect. Like I remember my buddies in the CZ back in the 2000s would have a PC at home, but it's not like they were going to be bumping Far Cry at great setting in 2004, Fear in 2005, Crysis in 2007. None of them have VR right now in 2020 (ok ok, it's also not a "developing country" anymore and consoles are a normal thing now as is actually buying games instead of pirating them  :lol). But yeah, Back in those days I think for them it was mostly, Warcraft 3 all day erryday, Counter-Strike all day erryday annnnnnnd well none of those are PC MASTER RACE type of games. They just happened to be best played with a mouse and keyboard, but your shitty parents computer could play it so hell yeah.

Stalker 2 I think about, and I don't know how "waaaahhhh they streamlined it for consoles" it will be, but it's not even about that. It's more that a game like Stalker might have run really poorly on consoles back during that time. A game like that though (putting aside potential hardware eating super duper extravagant graphics) is easy enough to pull off on modern day hardware whether it's PC or console. the lines are just more blurred. Eh, perhaps a better example is Mafia. Mafia 1 on the PC is blatantly better because it was on the PC. The console ports were gimped. Hardware sacrifices of the time. Now the fundamentals of such a game pose no issue on any platform.

If anything the PC market for pushing things way beyond the consoles more or less resides in VR. Though I'm glad that something in the console space like PS VR is decent enough as an entry level alternative.

Yeah, I mean I love, love, loved Beyond Good & Evil, but I've never believed in any of this vaporware for the sequel. Ubisoft isn't some Star Citizen never made a game in 20 years developer. Ubisoft is a machine that pumps out game after game after game on a timetable. If a game is in limbo for this long there it's doesn't really exist beyond a concept. If they wanted they could've had the game out in 2-3 years from any point in time and it's clear they don't think it's financially worth making. I'd retire if I was Ancel too if I kept trying to make BG&E2 for years with Ubisoft never getting it done.

Jim Ryan's a boring generic CEO dick and because of that Sony's image is going back to boring $$ loving corporation. They have some passionate people at Sony, but Jim ain't one of them. MS are chill, though to be honest MS's friendly & chill factor seems to stem from them just accepting being in last place forever but sitting on unlimited money and safety so they can just chill and make good systems and games and be pro-gamer without having to care about actually making a profit.

why are you pinning this on Ubisoft when Wild is in the exact same boat, and it's a Sony joint? The fact that Ubisoft even greenlit a dementedly ambitious game like BGaE2 sounded is kind of a miracle, and more than I would've done in their position,  I'm thinking it's Ancel that was starting to take the piss, with these Molyneux level ideas.
But deep down I still hope Wild and BGE2 happen, they sounded like the perfect game for me.

Nothing worth of value left at Ubisoft now.
