i'll post a video of me tanking rag back when it was actually cool in this old guild i used to run. Hopefully it will give you some inspiration to not only level your toon but a better understanding why the warrior is the best class in the game. Your whole guild looks up to you. you control the fights. Granted i don't know how this will play out in the BC because around the time AQ40 and Naxx came out the role of the "main tank" isn't what it used to be in MC/BWL. also shows why 40 man raiding in world of warcraft is the most intense gaming experience i've had in my 24 years of being a gamer.

People talk so much shit about wow, and how it's a waste of time, but they've never experienced the rush of leading 40 people to conquer something in a video game.

:bow

I have a lv35 warrior and I tank. I'm pretty decent at it but when lots of elites are involved it's hard for me to keep arrgo

Get used to it :-\ Warriors had a pretty decent shot at tanking multiple things, but ever since BC, it's all kind mehhhh.  You'll still be the best thing to soak up damage on bosses and such.

What's funny is Druids in bear form generally generate more rage at the higher levels and do a better job taunting after BC. Warriors are getting pissed cause they arent ALLOWED to tank if a feral druid is in the group.

For all the bitching I see from warriors, a few warriors have posted a few interesting how-tos on tanking. While the prot spec is a big problem for warriors in PVE, I think my main issue with the Warrior class is in PVE. I mean if I do anything other than WSG its impossible to flank ranged hunters/mages/warlocks without getting fucked with bad. I wish charge got a little bit of a range boost. I mean the whole point is to get into melee range where I can melee. :(

I must say, while WSG is more intense, AB is more fun when you have a mount.

As to the Druid tank thing, I'm not to the point where I have lacerate yet and a Warrior can hold aggro better than me, AND I'm mostly rest spec, but I have found myself tanking dungeons more than anything lately. I tanked and healed for ST and BRD, but mostly tanked.  Normally I'm pulled in as just the Druid, to do whatever, but then they ask and my stats actually outweight their intended tank.

Higher armor than some paladins my level, with 4k health. With buffs I get to near 8k armor, but I really rely on taunt and feral charge for aggro control.

Meanwhile, most of my good stuff is for healing.

But I feel a full fledged holy priest would be better than me.  I just end up doing both jobs due to a lack of Warriors and a lack of holy priests.

Preferabbly, I'd love to be catform as I can do the most as the wild card in a group.  DPS in catform and shift to help heal or to bear form and grab aggro. I feel like a wipe saver in catform, as I can adjust to a problematic situation more easily.

Yeah a restodruid is never going to outtank a warrior, you have to be feral or whatever to get the numbers required to piss off the warriors in the group. The key point is you can still be a GOOD TANK as a resto druid, you just cant piss off the warriors ;-)

Feral druids are pretty absurd.  When I put together a group to kill Durn the Hungerer the druid tanking did over 50K damage (the mage did ~70K), healed himself 8K because of improved leader of the pack, and took very little damage because of his high armor/dodge numbers.  Then he shifted into cat form to go rape caster mobs in 4 seconds.  And he can still main heal quite a few instances.

Yeah druids need a nerf pretty bad, feral spec anyway. I dunno why they got such a nutso boost. Blizzard hasnt made any indication to fix it either.

Frag: the moonkin thing? Well since TBC ive only seen it once and he had a few people buffing him in the background to keep him going.

There's a debate on the WoW warrior forums right now over the validity of Slam or Imp Slam. Imp Slam's casting time is nice but the rage cost is freakin 25 and the damage, at least when you first get it is LESS than heroic strike. Then again as Arms I dont even USE heroic strike since I dont generate rage quit like a fury spec, instead depending on normal strikes and spamstring + improved overpower.

I felt sorta robbed by Slam.

Foo: I just got intercept but im kinda at a loss as to how it should be use. Im used to charge that doesnt require rage to use, and stance dancing without the talent from prot tree fucks with my rage gain bad. Whats a good way for an Arms spec to use zerk stance?

MAF: Yeah, the moonfire spam thing. I can't think of a single class that actually worked on reliably, at least at level 60.

Unless they changed the mechanics a lot with slam in the expansion or through some sort of talent review in the last six months, I can't see it being useful. NONE of the warriors I was guilded with back when I played used it, not even as a rage dump. Most just used other abilities instead.

Totally depends on the situation. There were as many warri ors back when I was playing that were 'DPS' warriors and did everything they could to reduce the amount of threat they generated. They were dual weiding/2H beasts and pumped out HUGE damage, especially once the mob got into execute range. They couldn't use heroic strike because they'd get aggro and get two-rounded.

Slam over heroic strike seems silly if you're actually trying to generate threat.

Heroic Strike is worthless. Slam is worthless. All you want to do is boost your strength and ap to ungodly numbers and unleash overpowers, mortal strikes and whirlwinds. Save rage for your excute and that doesn't drop them then blood rage for another execute. I perfer two handed swords over maces, polearms and axes because sword spec is amazing for the extra chance to hit. You will be amazed by it. Always save your blood rage for when you bust into bersker stance. and becareful with your hamstrings. no need to spam it if it's already on them, you gotta manage your rage to a T to get the most out of your warrior in battles.

Foo: Does it seem ok that ill be primarily arms spec, and only going up to piercing howl in fury tree? Are there specific talents in the fury tree I should aim for aside from Cruelty and Piercing Howl?

I currently spam hamstring because its a cheap move that forces them into dodges. Rend has the same cost, is that as easy to dodge?

Now that I have zerker stance should I be spending more time in it even IF im arms spec?

Frag: Well im a 2H and I do focus on DPS and crits since I play WoW like Diablo, meaning mostly alone ;-) Im not concerned with threat but it doesnt mean I try to avoid it. I mean in most situations my hardest fights are in PVP and threat doesnt really matter there.

You might want to consider Enrage in the Fury tree.  It's not necessary or anything, but helps with classes that rely almost entirely on burst damage like rogues and paladins.  I haven't played with a warrior in a while though, so...

They're more manageable when you get that one Prot talent or the other thing that you train.  I dunno what the fuck they call that one these days.  You can almost 'warrior stunlock' a paladin and just run away when he tries to stomp you.

If it's a Holy paladin though, lol have fun!

haha, well I just mean wearing the paladin down. I havent really met a Paladin (yet) that can give me a run for my money DPS wise but he always bubbles and runs and does a full heal then fights again, which STILL isnt a problem but I wish there was a way to freaking kill a paladin faster. Battlegrounds still has groups of 3 people trying to kill one paladin who isnt even fighting back, just bubbling and healing and chugging potions lol.

Sword spec is definitely A+++++++ WOULD BUY FROM AGAIN material for a warrior. The extra chance to hit is so awesome.

The advice foo gives on AP/Strength uber allies is also what my old warrior friends did to a T, save for the protection tank who just loved to tank and not much else.

Regarding paladins-they are strong at lower levels and good against warriors, so the deck is kind of stacked against you. I can say that you should at least try to pummel them-I've seen my fiance live forever with a warrior/rogue beating on her because she can cast right through their attacks and they never bothered to kick or pummel.

Nope, Cruelty, Enrage, and PH are what you want from the fury tree when you spec into arms. Oh, definitely will be spending a lot of time in zerker stance, it ups your crit chance and it's the only stance that lets you whirlwind. LOVE the whirlwind. You'll be taking on 3 nubs vs yourself in no time.

Just the way it's been since...well, release :-\  I always see people bitching about how useless it is because of the cast time, but I'd think that Gift of the Naaru would be really nice when a paladin bubbles and starts the healing, on account of the paladin not trying to kill you.  It's almost like Cannibalize, but not as cool!

A rough sketch of how i would spec my two handed sword Warrior.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warrior/talents.html?053020213520105200211400505010400400000000000300000000000000000000

I think that's what the warrior on my arena team's spec'd at the moment, only without Imp Rend since he likes to IS -> bandage, despite the pocket healers we have.  Old habits die hard, I guess.  Imp MS is sex :drool

Hrm, assuming I end up doing WSG PVP at end game a lot i'd probably put points into improved charge and hamstring tho. That's a pretty nice looking build tho. I really need to spend some time learning when to switch stances tho. Def Proc seems so busted I havent switched stances in 30 levels and dont have the skills trained lol.

Oh, so its not a skill like priests have then. Well I dunno. In general maces arent THAT much slower than swords. Things dont get REAL slow until you get to two-handers, where 'fast' is one attack every 2.8 seconds. That is of course cheated with Slam I found out the other day, but thats a rage hog so for maybe two turns you get an attack at .5-1.5 seconds.

ANYWAY, I think if youre focusing on survivability over DPS a fast sword will beat a mace, but ive found in most cases that unless you find something really good the higher speed weapons will put out damage thats equal persecond wise to a slower mace. There are a few fast maces out there iirc. A lot of Combat spec rogues use maces.

In short, if you want to get healed a lot by that talent, then go for a faster weapon, but I think it will actually be harder to keep DPS up with MOST faster weapons unless you are a beast with criticals. Honestly tho as a paladin youre sorta almost required to go survivability > DPS. I rarely fight paladins that come close to my Warrior's DPS at my level, but god damn can they TAKE what I dish out.

I'm not completely sure but I think blessing/judgment of light, wisdom, and justice are normalized (% chance of a proc based on attack speed).  Really slow weapons may miss out because of a high proc rate though (say it's 20 PPM, anything slower than 3.0 attack speed would be missing out).  Unless you're AOE grinding with protection I'd judge crusader and use seal of righteousness or seal of command depending on your spec.

That's interesting, I never suspected 'chance' on talents were relative to anything. Then again ive always been a little lost on the idea of resiliance and things like that. I know a lot of items at the top levels have that and im just not sure how thats quantified for the player through the UI
