Got a phone a few minutes ago, but no message was left. I found that it was the direct line to the guy who interviewed me!

Call back, and am told they decided to go with someone else.

Ah well, at least he called me back to let me down.

I'm disappointed but satisfied that this guy at least called me back, when he said he would, to let me down.

Started looking in April. Haven't had much success...but this was only the third in-person interview I've had.

You need to download the scrobbler application if you haven't done so already, then you just play music and it modifies your profile accordingly; recommending stuff, programming your radio stations according to what you listen to, etc.

Yeah, I haven't had a job since 2008, but I did go back to school from early '09 up until April. For me it's been hard just getting my foot in the door to talk to people. And then some of them will lead you on only to break all contact and stop replying to you. It sucks. That's why I felt kinda happy that the guy today at least called to tell me that was it.

My last week of my current job is going to be pure joy.

Today, they were like "we want you to integrate these two web service APIs into a single system that will control all of our customer contact information and move it back and forth from one vendor to another and we want the whole thing scoped, coded, and implemented by Friday." I'm like, "you do realize this is my last week on the job and you're asking me to do this along with documenting every other thing I've ever worked on, right." Even if I could do something in that limited time frame, it's going to be quick (bad) code, probably buggy, and the next guy to have to maintain it will be utterly and completely lost.

Well, I'd kind of like to not burn a bridge, but yeah... I'm not really holding out for a reference. For one, I'm the only programmer in the building. We outsource work sometimes, but the only other people that work there are designers, marketers, sales people, etc. No one can really comment as to the quality of my code, just whether it works or not.

Just tell them 'no', firmly. Good practice for when you move elsewhere. I tell people no all the time, they get used to it and it makes them grateful when you actually do something for them.

Oh, they know fully well I can't "take" any of them with me, it's just talk. For one, I'm going to a pure programming environment. Korean co-workers and I (and the two other native teachers) got together and got hammered. I left early 'cuz I had to meet my girlfriend but not after I had been pressured into drinking 3 beers and 10 shots of soju. Two hours later I called one other native teacher to make sure that everyone was taking a taxi home, 'cuz they were trashed when I left, and THEY WERE ALL STILL THERE! Then the director of my school told me he wanted to talk to my girlfriend and said he was very disappointed in her because it was her fault that I had to go early to meet her. She was annoyed 'cuz, you know, they're Korean and it's awkward. Then he talked to me and said that he expected me to be back there (across town) in exactly 5 minutes. NO EXCUSES. I wished him a good night and told him to take a taxi and now I'm home and I feel sick and tomorrow is going to suck. Good times.
