prole is just an easily annoyed motherfucker, i've been raised to always hound employers, make them see that you really want shit.  this is coming from my mom who got a job without a college degree where it's usually required, and following her advice got me from the lowest rung in the restaurant to a rung below management - i say AT LEAST call them back after one week

The first interview was very brief he said he was just sorta meeting people that day and he only had positive things to say about me. But like he didnt ask for references yet etc. Which sucks because my references are awesome, including the president and founder of a non profit.

When I was unemployed, I took a class at the career center about resumes, but she made it a point to throw in a whole lesson on thank you cards because they were so important. And this was a class normally taught to blue collar workers even, not corporate shit. She actually had gotten that job because she sent a thank you card and her equal counterpart applicant didn't.

I went home and sent thank you cards to the few people I spoke with at a recent interview and got the job a day or two later. Not sure if it was related.

When I was job-hunting last year, I had an interview that went okay.  Wasn't sure if I was going to hear back...then a week later, my phone rang really early in the morning.  It was from the guy who interviewed me, but he didn't leave a message.  I called him back and he was just like..."oh, sorry...didn't mean to call you.  We've decided to hire someone else."  Very awkward.

definitely email them back if there was an email involved (submitting a resume for example) - although this really varies on the job involved. from there, nothing to do but wait.

there are plenty of other candidates who chances are are way better at your job than you are - but how you present yourself goes a long way, imo.

That's what I would've thought too, but this was coming from someone who specialized in placing people. And she was telling this to guys applying for construction positions.

But at the same time, I probably spoke with 500+ people when I was a hiring manager, and I got maybe two thank you cards. One was from this lady who was so nice, but she sweated something fierce. Like to the point where she had to excuse herself to clean up. She was probably nervous because of the interview, but I wasn't asking hard questions (mostly just getting the feel for people). It wouldn't have mattered, but the position involved dealing directly with customers. There's no way. I felt bad. Glad I don't have to do that shit anymore.

It's pretty amazing how writing a thank you note has helped me out when applying for a job. I literally got offered 3 jobs around the same time due to that (or at least, I assumed that's what helped).

Yeah but you're from the third world.  Nobody actually gives a shit about your opinion -- your primary job is to provide cheap service for us at five cents an hour and be damn grateful that you have the privilege in doing so.

I just stick with letters.  I suppose if you are a woman, it is probably kosher to send a card.  I don't think that you'd get away with it if you were a dude.  For my letters, I just thank them for their time, re-emphasize my greatest strengths, and then thank them again followed by a handwritten signature.  For the bonus I was referring to, I just sent an e-mail.

I've been sick for days. Just started some antibiotics. I have been aplying for jobs and looking for a new place to live. I have to move out by the end of this month and I have no place yet. Going to start calling rooms to rent. I wanted to move to an apartment, but I can't do that until I have a job of some sort. I don't want to agree to a lease yet since I might be moving if I get a job. I was offered an interview at a game company in Austin, TX but I am waiting to hear back from them on interview details. I'd rather do the interview at their San Fran office if possible. It's not worth the cost otherwise.

So I think I've been friends with someone who had a drug problem and I didn't even notice.  I just started realizing.  It's this lady I know who is always going to the doctor and complaining of pains and getting prescribed stuff.  Always.  She's always popping something.  I guess I was just being ignorant and not really paying attention.  Until today... she got offered a job somewhere and was really excited.  So she went to take the drug screening and they found a couple of drugs in her system.  She had prescriptions for some of them but others she was freaking out about.  I told her "Can't you call your doctor and he'll prove it?" and she responds "the question is which doctor" O.o Then she tells me that they detect up to 90 days prior and how is she supposed to remember the last 90 days.  Well I know what drugs I've been prescribed in the last 3 months and which doctors I get them from.  that's for sure.  Then she tells me that perhaps she found some left over pills in a drawer or something and took it.  It could have been from over 5 years ago for all she knows, she said.  

Soooo, I was taken aback a bit.  After that conversation my thoughts are she is addicted to pain killers and hops around to a bunch of doctors getting prescriptions.  It just seems crazy to me to not know where you got prescriptions from.
