adhering to some sort of dress code is just something that's mandatory in most jobs. For years I had to follow military guidelines for dress code and grooming and I wasn't in the damn military. I could either suck it up or find another job.

I'm not sure what having long hair has to do with growing up. I had short hair my entire life, did't feel grown up at all. Felt pretty stupid.

but anyway woah, I think all this legal talk is a bit much. Don't think I would take it that far. I mean it's a small job and I only have it because it's my friends dad. While he is really an ass and a "my way or the highway" kind of guy, he's not a terrible person. I just don't see the big deal. I'm only the labor and no one else cares. It's not like we are the cleanest people anyway.

But cutting it to a buzz cut seems to be the only option. I tried a ponytail today and that only got a worse response. While I'll feel like I look stupid and will probably be resentful, I'm going to have to cut my hair.

I live in Chicago. But yes the dude has a very I guess what you would call old-fashion "macho man" view. The dude's a plumber, and you're currently an assistant plumber. It's not like the guy's going to have a major influence over your life from here on out.

If this is his only concern, and he's a control freak you can either stay with the job and cut your hair, and maybe have an easier time... or he may just decide on something new he doesn't like about you, and start in on that.

Yeah, in this economy it's completely reasonable to quit your job and try to find a new one just because you're clinging to some personal look that you yourself are not completely crazy about.

I'm thinking about taking up a new hobby, since video gaming is starting to feel stale to me. I was thinking about taking up knitting or crocheting. I've lately gotten into crafting a lot. I thought about taking up reading, but I just end up falling asleep while reading.

One thing that I've found over the years of working for a video game retailer is that you start to hate video games. I mostly only play online multiplayer anymore just because I can turn it on and shut if off whenever I want and I don't think about how to beat certain levels. And even only doing the multiplayer stuff, I probably only turn my console 2-3 times a week at the most.

I said I was mixed and don't go as black. Don't go as anything really, but if I had to say anything I'd say that most don't see me as black. I don't really have black features. My hair is somewhat curly and yes sometimes I have to use a heat iron to get it to where I want it.

It's funny you bring this up. When I went to my dads funeral, I was actually surprised to see how black his side of the family actually was. I was pretty surprised that he also seemed to identify as black.

I think my actual posting would suggest otherwise.

But no, while I won't lie and say I never posted that. To be perfectly honest yeah, I don't find myself on average to the everyday black women I see. That's not to say I don't find black women attractive. No I've found many , but hey my preferences are my own. I can't help that I have to live up to the anime fan stereotype and like Asian women.

And as for the identifying black thing. Well you know, what can I say? I can't say I've grown up in a "specific" race house. My family is pretty mixed. My mom after all idenitfys as native american for some reason. Me? It was left up to me for what I wanted to go as and well I never found an answer. You know I've had white friends and I've had some black friends. Growing up I was always told "oh you don't act black". It was for stupid reasons like I don't like basketball, or rap, wearing types of outfits, or you know whatever dumb superfluous things people wanted to throw as race defining things. Hey, it's stupid, but thats how people think about race. I mean I sure as fuck my fair share of sterotypes as well. But it kind of angerd me, because I don't act white, you know I just act like myself. People go by skin color and well my skin color is'nt so black and white, so people don't know what to think I guess. I won't say I'm not a little racist or narrow minded. I mean yes part of my reason for not wanting to identify as black is because I thought well "I don't want to be part of that rap culture". Stupid, sure, but hey thats what it is and as you get older you realize your views need to change.

Yeep that's how I've been feeling, just burnt out on the games. I love stories, but lately have been so disappointed by the games I've played that I've lost all interest in even opening games I bought recently.

I've decided to take up crocheting, I got some supplies at Michaels and will be starting off with a Dr. Who Scarf.

This sort of reminds me of a story my friend in Shanghai told me. He teaches adults, and one student kept mentioning his brothers and sisters (as in plural). My friend doesn't encounter this often per the one child policy, and usually his students will confuse the terminology of cousins and siblings anyway.

The student did elaborate though: "No, my father is a hero. He killed lots of your kind and received permission to have many children."

Anyway, I did two years in South Korea but don't think I ever talked about it here.
