Slammed my finger in the car door this morning going into work. The nail immediately turned dark with blood and was throbbing from the pressure. Had to work with my hand in a bowl of ice all day, but the pressure/throbbing never went away.

Before Comcast became Xfinity I had horrible experiences with them.  I never had proper internet speed at my home and I couldn't get on demand because it would freeze.  We moved and thought that might fix it.  I put in the transfer, stayed home from work to wait and the guy never showed up.  I called and they said that the tech had knocked on my door and no one answered.  BS.  They said that they would have someone come out the next day after 5 so I wouldn't have to take off work.  An hour after that, the tech calls and apologizes for not showing (I thought he told them he'd come by? wtf?) and said he'd be at my house in 30 minutes.  Never showed.  The next day after 5, he never showed either.  When I called customer service and told them about all the issues I've had with them and how I'd been a comcast customer for 5 years and I asked what they could do to make it right.  The lady tells me they can cut 20 bucks off my installation/transfer charge.  Really?  20 bucks?  I took a whole day off work and you wasted my time.  Fuck you.  I cancelled. 

When we moved a year later Xfinity was the only service provider in our neighborhood so I begrudgingly signed back up (internet only.  haven't had cable in forever).  Besides the high price, I never had a problem.  Service was great (and fast) and the installation guy was awesome.

It's like even if you get choices, you're fucked no matter which one you choose.  :|

yep. I assume at a national level all customer service sucks for these companies. The best you can do is hope you have no issues and the local techs are decent.

happy for ya.  I'm depressed as shit right now because I can't get excited about finishing law school...it's just been such a meaningless and painful experience, but everyone in my life is too worried about negativity to acknowledge my opinion of the situation.  Friends can't relate, family thinks it means a whole lot more than it does.   I want to get it together so I can move, but I have no idea how that will play out. 

Any u.s. boreans know if I can just take out a generic loan from a bank?  I could use a couple thou to get me started and keep me up for a few months while I look for work.

That's how I felt when I started taking Welbutrin last fall.  It doesn't make me across the board HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY, but it made my emotions feel a lot more normal and under control.  So now when I'm pissed or sad, I can put my finger on why, instead of spiraling and dropping out of life for a while.  Environment is a big one too....I'm trying to get out of Chicago now cause my momentum here was killed about a year ago, after the last of my good buddies moved away and I only had meh acquaintances left.  But I was beating myself up for not being more social or getting out, when I should've been planning a move. 

Flamenco, have you interviewed at any firms yet?

Nah, law school taught me how little I actually want to be an attorney.  I thought maybe I could do it for a bit to save up for more grad school in something like sociology, but I wouldn't even be able to cut that.  So I'm going to grad school for a librarian degree and putting off any passion degrees until later.  I'll be a law librarian instead.

As far as the concentration goes, I went on Modafinil and it helped with zero side effects. Might be a more attractive option than Ritalin.
