As the moderation and circlejerking there became more and more unbearable, banned semi-sane users and other shit stirrers found refuge in a smaller and more lax community. They could share their common history and elements of forum culture they chose to preserve and evolve into a somewhat unique sub-sub culture of their own. Most relevant to our interests is a permanently cycling, often locked and rebooted thread dedicated to laughing and mocking NeoGAF as it became ever more distinguished mentally-challenged fellowed. And also now, of course, Resetera. The original name of the forum was actually Evilbore, a direct snipe at owner, flaming trust fund narcissist, alleged MMA student (no really) and now infamous shower rapist, Tyler Malka a.k.a Evilore.

Past mods from GAF would pass through and share gossip and stories of behind the curtain shenanigans, including lolcows that were put through the ringer (some more gently than others.)

I tell you all this to do my best to orient you into the latest in this thread, a self contained meta r/drama in their own corner of their forum, where everyone laughs and gets along until they don’t and crazy fights break out, smug bait is thrown and everyone laughs at whoever eventually gets BTFO and either ragequits or gets banned.

It still has a leftist bent and they don’t have a high opinion of places like Neocigarillo on voat (filtered to babygoats) or Kiwifarmers, etc. Especially since it’s quite the treasure trove for gold sifters if you have the kind of dedicated autism to dive in and read and read and read, get to know the people and take notice of when former mods and power users show up and shoot the shit about the many past and ongoing shenanigans on both NeoGAF and Resetera. People like, say, me.

Okay! In this shit talking, left of center but fairly sane radically centrist forum there are a few (often refreshing) counter jerkers that, tragicomicly, build up a not entirely unjust grudge against getting shit on. Their die on a hill of “fuck you guys” since the moderation is fairly light until told to “stop this shit” with not much direct explanation - only the mocking of other users. The characters referenced here are eltoilate, recently perma banned, Optimus who caught a temp ban and Assimilate, our featured meltdowner, demanding an explanation of why he got banned for dodging their admittedly prudish word filter and saying “distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.” Hopefully I’ve explained enough to set you up to enjoy this one man standoff. Also hopefully their resident SRDines notice this thread somehow since sadly we cannot ping offsite and get their input. Looking at you TIMU.

Asked my boss if we ever gave out laptops to this group and was told no, but it might be worth checking with our department just in case.  Contacted someone who would know and he confirmed it.  He ended up calling her to tell her this and said she was initially very excited to hear from him, only to get colder and colder and speak in short sentences after being told it wasn't our equipment and we can't help.

I bought a stand alone 4k blu ray player today. Mostly for Dolby Vision. I haven't bought a stand alone player in like well a decade. It's been consoles forever. With my PS3 being my handy dandy blu ray player(love that thing till this day). My One X always seemed to have problems reading discs and in general I dislike the interface.

But I have to say I like this. So quick and easy. No fluff, just a simple ass player. Super quiet and no problems.

Random question for those with cooking/science-minded background.


I use a gas oven for cooking with stove top burners. Sometimes I'm cooking something in the oven while frying things on the stovetop on top with an open flame. During these times I often open the oven door to check the temperature of what I'm cooking in there while still frying on top.

If the gas oven is shooting out gas when I open the oven door shouldn't gas come out and ignite with the open flame on the stovetop and explode or something? How come it doesn't and I am still alive?

Had a real kind of scary moment today.

It was actually a nice day at the begining. Work gave me a new work vehicle(a ford transit so I guess it's a vann) complete with the only thing I really care about....Apple Play. They are also gave me a light load today which was great as it meant I would get off early to play some more Cyperpunk.

But the last Oxygen Set-up took me to a pretty average south Chicago Suburb. While driving on the one lane road to the home, the car stopped in front of me to turn. It was a little sudden, but I wasn't riding the car's ass so no real problem.  But the car behind me must have been riding my ass and I guess had to swerve. I wasn't driving recklessly as this was my first day in the car. The car behind hammered on the horn, but it was like "well that's a bit dramatic as again it's one lane, I can't go anywhere, and it's just a second before the car in front turns anyway". I just think the persons an asshole and turn on the next street. The car follows me seemingly pretty angry, I only noticed because it's riding my ass while I'm trying too look out for the address. So as I pull over to let this car pass me(not thinking it was the car that nearly hit me) I notice that no it is follow me, so I don't stop instead just go around a few blocks. They keep following me and it's a bit scary because it's not like they did hit me or anything so no real reason to talk to me. But they follow me around a couple of blocks and eventually I just stop so they can roll up on me. They do and then start yelling at me and say they have a gun and will shoot me. Now it's a a pair of teenagers, but yknow you never know and hey this is still the Chicago area( though Ive been to some terrible areas of the city and never had any problem a year into this job and from jobs before). I'm a little scared, but also confused. So I just say " You guys are fucking morrons" and drive off. They follow for a bit and eventually drive off.

I don't know, it was just odd. To shoot someone over nothing? I know it could happen, but still. To possibly be put in jail for the rest of your life over road rage that an insurance claim would easily say is your fault? I really hope these people don't have a gun, because I would hate to see something happen to someone else because of these idiots.

Time for a first haircut since Corona. I was thinking of doing some hair straightening at first, but the cost is a little too much for my wallet nowadays (for the type of hair straightening I was interested in. A really long lasting super effective kind). So I'll just let the wavy on some days, curly on other days do its thing and just get a shorter cut. Right now if I take my front bang it's about 2 or 3 inches below the chin when stretched out. Gonna snip that length to about nose level. Again, my hair waves or and curls quite a bit depending on the weather, so this makes for a shorter look than it seems.

Welp, neighbour 2 doors over was stabbed to death last night. 25 year old man arrested as the suspect. I think she was 40 or so? I dunno.
I heard a bit of a ruckus and police knocking on doors in the morning and neighbours talking outside when I woke up around 11 AM figured it was another parking lot incident so didn't bother getting out of bed to mingle with the crowd.


Later read some stuff about screams, loud noises last night, of course police presence and ambulances and all that.
But I sleep through everything (apparently even murder and police investigations). When something happens in my building I always hear it from other people.
I think this is the 3rd in 3 - 6 months time.

Today the police came by to ask more questions about the murder. Or as they called it "the stabbing incident".
I first told them no because I uuhh was leaving soon (busy playing video games) but they told me they had only 2 or 3 short questions.
2 ladies, one was fat and one a bit old but definitely the 'never sleeps psychological trauma' detective type.
When I went outside to talk to them they asked if they could remove their facemasks also.
They had those masks with prints so I knew they were 'that kind of people'. 

The fat one didn't speak at all, seemed very suspicious to me and the other one had this fake happy vibe going, you know, that kind of people.
Now that I think about it, the fat one was probably the enforcer who chokes people.


Apparently they had knocked or rang the bell earlier this week. Could be true, I remember some faint knocking but I didn't order anything so I figured it was just the Polish kids that live upstairs.
Got questions like if I heard or noticed anything suspucious. Not really apart from the murder. Also was asked if I had heard any loud bangs or doors smashing or whatever. But nope. You can't wake me up if you drive a tank through the wall.
I hadn't seen or heard anything that could be of use for their investigation.

As they went to check on other people they noticed that a few appartments were empty. So I quipped: "Yeah, they moved rather quickly all of a sudden" 
Possibly making those people suspicous but I honestly have no idea when they moved.



Anyway the suspect is the ex-boyfriend, he was arrested that same night in the appartment so I guess they're trying to build a case against him.
Probably figuring out if it was a spur of the moment kind of thing or they had trouble for a while.
