Italy's brand of football is boring and fug.  Can't understand why any non-Italian would ever cheer for them.

You really thought you stood a chance? Chin up mate, it's still better than 8-0 :gloomy

No, but I was hoping for a 2-1 loss or even a 1-1 draw or something. Now Cahill is gone and we're fucked :(

this is why it's so bad!

in the few matches I watched, the only time the noise changed was when cameroon had a free kick.  They just became louder for a few seconds.

2-1 sucks man  :(

We'll take the 3 points, but with Ivory Coast and Portugal ahead this ain't looking pretty. KaKa was fucking horrible and Fabiano spent the game injuring NK's defense. Maicon played well throughout the game and he really deserved that goal. Here's hoping Brazil steps up!

Brazil should get through. I have a hard time seeing them lose both those matchs. The fight for the second slot is going to be a dogfight though.

You're brazillian?

Wtf

Also, unless Portugal and Ivory Coast today were so strong against each other that when they next play they will demolish the competition, i wouldn't be afraid of shit.

Portugal is smelling like cat piss right now

In this approach, the casual sports fan is using a strategy of "rational ignorance" -- i.e., not caring until the team is sufficiently successful. This is the kind of thing that political scientists tend to understand, but sports and politics junkies reject as somehow not representing true fandom.  But it is how most people think about most things in life most of the time.

I certainly found this to be the case for you yanks during the winter olympics. ;)

Can we get an official ruling about Boogie posting in this thread?  I mean Canada didn't even qualify.  Oh well, maybe you'll have a team to root for in 2014?  :smug

Dude, it seems like half our population consists of traitorous immigrants with foreign flags flying from their cars for the past three weeks.  We're probably the most soccer-mad nation without a team in the event.

I'm a pasty white boy with no overseas heritage and no interest in soccer.  I did like you yanks drawing with England for shits and giggles though. ;)

Is this supposed to be an African thing because I've seen these horns at soccer games before (in california).

I think the reason it sounds like so much buzzing on TV is that microphones are far from the source so it just sounds like one constant note.

Yes and no, it also has to do with the dominant frequency of the horn.

I missed both matches today, what a disappointing result. It feels like its really hard to tell who is going to do good and who isn't this world cup and we haven't even entered the knock out stage.

Spain was at almost 20% unemployment last time I checked. If they don't make it out of their group, they might have another civil war.

That's the best part though.

The last world cup was very predictable. It wasn't until France took out Brazil when shit got real.

Now shit is getting real from the start  :lol

Interesting. Uruguay seems to be playing a bit offensive. As long as the match doesn't end with a tie I will be satisfied. The current standings for the teams in this group are 1 point for all.
