Natural reaction to a tidal wave of hate on any subject. 

DmC's a frustrating argument for both sides.  The game turned out to be exactly what the optimists were hoping for and exactly what the pessimists feared.  Both sides are right and don't realize the other side is also right, so hilarity ensues.  The unexpected twist that's keeping it fun for me is that the quality of the game is a bit higher than I was expecting (and so are the reviews) and the sales are a bit lower than I was expecting.  It's keeping everyone fighty and bitey and I'm hoping we get more ezekial/jett tears out of the deal.

the bad thing about this is that shills like these 2 are properly rewarded for their efforts.

IIRC it's not possible within vB itself but PM's are plaintext in the database, so you have to fire up however you look at the database (for me it was phpMyAdmin) and pay attention to sent-from ID's, etc. So yeah, big hassle.

I think he commented publicly on that after having stepped down as an admin. I have no experience with forum software, but I tend to believe him when he stated that there is no functionality built into the front end that supports reading other people's PMs. Meaning, Sinister Mod X can't click a tab, punch in a user name, and then proceed to click the "Show PMs" button to read your messages. However, he did state that DB access could accomplish that, but it would be something of a hassle.

It's still hard to listen to hip hop because a lot of the production is so generic. I don't like dance music for the same reason. If I listen to electronic, I fuck with ambient, electro jazz, or vocal house. I don't like trance. Though for the sake of discussion, I'll have to agree that hip hop, as it is now, is pretty diverse. A few years ago I thought it was pretty bad.

And disagree on the lyrics. Hip hop makes the lyrics far more prominent than any other genre. It's really hard for me to take hip hop seriously if the lyrics are garbage.

Yeah but it's like The Game- when your music is essentially all about what a cunt you are then it's hard to separate the two. For example, I like Wagner and Burzum a lot (both racist as hell) but I can easily ignore it because one is in german and the other in norsk or whatever, so it doesnt even register on any level. Ye is a dick, but he has enough charisma etc for it to be fine with me

That's my problem with hip hop though. It feels like a genre that only someone under 30 could enjoy. Like, usually, it's just a few artists, but in the case of hip hop, it's kinda the whole genre of music. I look at these guys in their 40's making these songs, and it makes me shake my head.

It's not that I can't have fun. A lot of my favorite rock songs are just fun shit. But I think rock strikes the balance between "deep derp" and "fun derp" a lot better. Hip hop doesn't have such balance. The only artist who ever had that balance was the GOAT - 2pac.

I dunno about "most music". We're talking about a genre here. Rock, rnb, funk, soul, jazz, classical...those genres are crazy in that they can be approachable at any age. Sure, some musicians are all about the youth, but you can still find something that appeals to you. Hip hop doesn't feel like that at all, which is why I got tired of it quickly. Even if Jackson 5 was all about getting girls' panties wet, it's still timeless music. I'm not sure I can say that about hip hop when I'm in my 40's beyond nostalgia.

Also, Eminem's music never really resonated with me but the guy is a brilliant wordsmith and a good freestyler.  50 did an interview in the UK a couple of years ago and he really put his respect for Eminem into context and it changed my opinion of him.

Kanye is a great producer and a decent enough rapper.  No Church in the Wild was awesome.
