Thats really what im saying, that subsection of people liked it, even if you and I dont like their way of doing things and they are mouthbreathers, it's better to try and get them to post usefully. Thinking about it, my viewpoint is small forum slanted. I guess GAF doesnt really have a problem since their member turnover is skyhigh and they can just ban the mouthies.

Hey now, don't want to destroy a good chunk of the threads that get the most traffic.

Voting threads were clearly someone starting an "offseason" thing (I think it was Anihawk with past GOTY and the others who do the normal GOTY doing franchise ones, at least those were the first I saw) that quickly spiraled into everyone starting their own as Oscar pointed out.

Most of the humorous tags (positive and negative) were the work of one particular administrator.  Now that that administrator is gone, and things have changed from the capricious and inconsistent old days to the gentler, friendly robot days, it seems to have been decided that negative tags disrupt smooth conversation and cause hurt feelings.  So yeah, there is a bit of a project to remove negative tags happening.

duckroll is a complete dipshit and if i were put in a room with him, hitler, and justin bieber and given a gun with three bullets, i'd empty all three into duckroll and ask the biebs and adolf to hold up his writhing carcass so i could pistol whip it.  that said, he's at least got a personality, so that makes him better than most mods.

Voting threads are stupid and were definitely starting to clog the board up.  GOTY, okay.  Greatest games of all time, alrighty.  Best Final Fantasy, starting to push it.  Best 3DS sports game of all-time, now we've entered retardville.

Alberto is definitely partial to Nintendo, but to a very acceptable degree.

The only bad things I can say about him is that doesn't come across as chill by nature, sometimes it feels like he's restraining himself from saying what he really thinks to eye-twitching levels. I'm not sure if that's out of principle, fear of moderation, or trying to live up to certain images (e.g. his tag). Also, his bias can sometimes bring out hints of snark and double standards that I don't appreciate. But whatevs. Nobody's perfect, and he's still good people in my book.

I think a lot of Alberto's snark comes from the fact that GAF is full of fucking idiots.  It's the same thing that happened to me, except in my case it got worse and worse until I finally walked away.  That's what Alberto ought to do.  When you're at the point that every thread looks like shit (or Gamefaqs), it's probably time to mosey along, cuz whether you're right or wrong, you're the one pissing in the pool.

I agree with Oscars sentiment about the agreeability of smaller forums, places like Neogaf and SA are great to read, if you cherry pick the quality nuggets out of the hot vat of rancid fat. But I generally prefer smaller places, this and anewforum are the two forums that I can post without the artificial imposed boundaries of subjective tastes.

Obviously I seem to post with tedious regulatory motions about racism, but that's only when I'm drunk, and do so in an unpernicious fashion, which I hope is plain to read. One interesting thing I've noticed is Neogafs posting obsession with rape, in particular drunken posts.......it's as if some guys fixate over it. Strange.
