Watch Lupin The Third Fujiko Mine or the 2000’s Golgo 13 tv instead for hard hitting adult serious action.

Trigun is still good. Vash can be grating at times, and the animation quality dips pretty low in a few episodes, but once you reach the half-way point where Vash starts fighting the Gung-Ho Guns it's great.

And Trigun's OST is stellar all the way around, not just the OP.

If you're actually going to watch GT, skip ahead to the start of the "Baby Saga" where it goes back to just being Goku versus the big bad of the storyline stuff again. It gets so ridiculous that it literally becomes Goku against planet EARTH. Then you get a couple of episodes where two Android 17s pop up and merge together and it's full of more ridiculous nostalgia. Then the dragons in the Dragonballs turn evil and fight and what the fuck is going on oh hey it's over.

I watched the first ep of the anime and read the first chapter of the manga, and the little fairy in the manga does seem to ruin the gothic horror feeling.

Although I have read that the manga is far more gory.

Puck is heavy handed and ever present comedy relief, yeah. Miura adds even more such characters later on. I stopped reading their dialogue a long time ago.

There's a very long backflash that starts at volume 4 and lasts until volume 13, where all hell breaks loose. Most of that period is relatively grounded as far as the violence goes. The first TV series adapts this stretch of the manga and is subsequently not as gory either.

The CG series adapts later volumes and is gorier by virtue of that, but it's also bad, so...

I only saw bits of the first ep, but it doesn't seem like Watanabe's best work, and I say that as someone who has ravenously watched everything else he's directed.

I dunno. It's about music, but the songs aren't as a emotive as those in his other shows

I basically like those, and am sort of disappointed there doesn’t seem to be anything for me to watch that continues the story.

There's a 24-episode series that picks up where the three movies [and the 90s series] left off. It's pretty bad, though.
