In a sense they already are with how every game at E3 fuses single and multiplayer. An always online connection is the optimal, or only, way to play these games. That's more the death of traditional single player than DRM, but it could effectively mean what it meant for Diablo 3.
But I do agree with Bob that the mass exodus at E3, in spirit, was a big "back the fuck off" to these policies for the time being. Whatever happens, this week you had EA saying that online passes weren't worth the damaged reputation they brought. Yeah, OK, EA.
