“Look, the perception of Obama, of him and his potency across the world is one of such weakness," Sarah Palin told Fox News' Sean Hannity. "People are looking at Putin as one who wrestles bears and drills for oil. They look at our president as one who wears mom jeans and equivocates and bloviates.”

Putin basically came to the conclusion after Benghazi, Syria, Egypt -  everything Obama has been engaged in - he's a weak indecisive leader.

It started with Benghazi. When you kill Americans and nobody pays a price, you invite this type of aggression. #Ukraine

After first Benghazi and then his constant defeats by Putin it's no wonder the Korean people turned out in massive support of another strong leader in comparison to the feckless Obama:
Quote
Central Election Committee Reports on Kim Jong Un's Election as Deputy to SPA

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The election of deputies to the 13th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK was successfully held in the DPRK.

The Central Election Committee on Monday released a report on the results of the election of the deputies to the SPA held at Paektusan Constituency No. 111 on Sunday.

According to the report, all the voters of the constituency took part in voting and 100 percent of them voted for Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, reflecting the unanimous will and desire of the service personnel and people across the country.

This is an expression of all the service personnel and people's absolute support and profound trust in supreme leader Kim Jong Un as they single-mindedly remain loyal to him, holding him in high esteem as the monolithic center of unity and leadership and a striking demonstration of their revolutionary spirit and indomitable will to make a fresh shining history of Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Korea under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

The DPRK is ushering in the era of great surge in building a thriving socialist nation under the outstanding and tested leadership of Kim Jong Un.

He set it as the supreme programme of the party to model the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, providing a firm organizational and ideological guarantee for developing the WPK into the glorious party of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He, at the same time, opened a new chapter of the cause of immortalizing the leaders with loyalty and sense of moral obligation, developing the DPRK into the socialist country of Juche which is shining with the idea and the august names of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He set forth a clear-cut strategy for the Korean revolution to be held fast to for all ages so that the country may advance straight along the road to independence, Songun and socialism under the uplifted banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, providing an ever-victorious treasured sword for the prosperity and development of the DPRK.

He put forward the Korean People's Army as a reliable scout party and a strong mainstay for the Songun revolution by developing and enriching Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's strategy and tactics and further bolstered it up as elite revolutionary armed forces. He thus remarkably increased the defense power of the country, firmly protecting the destiny of the socialist country and its people.

He made a new legendary history of love for the people and love for the rising generations with his noble patriotic politics and all-embracing politics, bringing into full bloom the happiness of the great socialist family in which all its members have blood relations with their leader.

He has energetically led the servicepersons and the people to bring about a turning phase in building the economy and improving the people's living standard through a strong wind of Kim Jong Il's patriotism across the country and their patriotic enthusiasm. As a result, the country witnessed steady great successes showing the appearance of a thriving nation.

Thanks to Kim Jong Un's leadership, the DPRK will as ever prosper as the glorious state of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the revolutionary cause of Juche, the revolutionary cause of Songun, is sure to win a final victory.

The Central Election Committee reports that Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, was elected deputy to SPA according to the results of the voting confirmed and submitted by the above-mentioned constituency.

When I first saw that, I thought it was shocking, and thought of the North Korean "elections".
But then I thought, there is probably an "Obama is a Nazi" somewhere in Texas, reminding me of the dangers of interpreting a photo without context.

However, the recent 100% pro Russia outcome does smell like large scale Russian influencing.

Ha, googled for Obama billboard:

Disgraceful, at this point the only way to maintain America's status in the world is to threaten nuclear retaliation if Putin doesn't back down. But Obama is too weak to show that kind of real leadership.

Isn't a factor of Putin's invasion of Crimea that he was starting to lose some face at home and needed a bold stroke to recover his image? He should run for President here instead, or have Medvedev do it

The factor of the invasion is, he ain't giving up those military bases, no way no how. Fuck "protecting ethnic russians", dood wants those bases on lock and that's it. Ukraine after the regime change is moving away from the post-Soviet cleptocracy model that's par for the course in many other ex-USSR republics. Putin and his cadre of ex-KGB guys decided fairly swiftly that a military invention was the way to go, disregarding how this might affect Russia economically and diplomatically. The stability of Russia and the "Eurasian empire" plan is the only priority that matters.

Duh but I was speaking in the context of a poll where Americans think Putin is a strong leader when this whole thing is driven by a loss of influence both domestically and in the former soviet bloc

For running commentary on Russia and the vote in Crimea, you might want to follow chess champion turned democracy activist Garry Kasparov: @Kasparov63. Tonight, amid his usual barrage of criticism leveled at Vladimir Putin, he’s turning his fire on President Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

Discussing President Carter’s foreign policy, he compliments the former President’s “Very tough stands on human rights.” President Obama, however, he gives lower marks. In response to another tweeter, he writes that when it comes to the crisis in Ukraine, “so far, Carter looks like Churchill in comparison.”

Hillary Clinton, the presumed frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, doesn’t get treated much better. “Hillary was the captain of the Titanic that was US-Russia relations as Secretary of State. Her as admiral of whole fleet makes me nervous!” Kasparov tweets.

Quote
On the other side of the square, Lucia Prokorovna, 60, carried a giant white, blue and red Russian flag and shouted with delight: "We're free of the occupation!"

"Ukraine was attached to Crimea like a sack of potatoes," she added.

"Today I visited the polling station -- I only slept half the night hoping for the moment we would be with Russia."

...

As night fell and before the results were announced, thousands descended on the square, where a government building had "Crimean Spring" emblazoned across it with a green laser.

"I want Crimea to join Russia because Russia is home," said one reveller, 36-year-old Aleksiy.

"This is a great day. I'm going to change my passport to a Russian one as soon as I can. Life will be different and better."

Amid a sea of Russian flags, 36-year-old Nikolai Terkach, a hefty builder, chose to carry the red hammer and sickle standard of the former Soviet Union.

"It's the flag of my childhood," he said. "For me, it's a patriotic symbol, something which is in my heart.

"Russia and the USSR are of course not the same thing but today, we're all feeling a sense of victory."

As revellers drank Shampanskoye -- so-called "Soviet Champagne" -- and local brandy, others reflected on what the future might hold.

Tamara Lujkoka, 35, was carrying her two-year-old son in her arms.

"This little one will have no memory of Ukraine and that's good," she smiled.

"He has always been Russian, like us."

- Isn't it more like 75%?
- They're doing their vote with armed soldiers standing around in their streets
- There are a lot of Russians there because Stalin moved them there and forced out the locals
- The land is Ukraine's territory, should Mexico just go ahead and annex San Diego?

Yeah, annexing areas on the grounds of ethnicity is awesome-wowsome, just ask all these ethnic Georgians north of Tshkinvali that had their villages destroyed by troops in the Russian occupation of 2008:

https://goo.gl/maps/0paoh

Pretty much all those Georgian villages all the way up to the border are annihilated, the "ethnic russian" Ossetians built new towns next to them instead.
