I'm still a dumb american, but I don't see how they'll ever figure out the Northern Ireland and Ireland border issue unless the UK actually stay in the UK.

unless the UK actually stay in the UK.

Boris Johnson has sent a letter to the EU to request a Brexit delay - but without his signature, according to a Downing Street source.

The request was accompanied by a second letter, signed by Mr Johnson, which says he believes that a delay would be a mistake, the source said.

The PM was required by law to ask the EU for an extension to the 31 October deadline after losing a Commons vote.

Donald Tusk tweeted to confirm he had received the extension request.

Hahahaha!

Apparently it was three letters. Seems he wanted to make certain that there was no misunderstanding:
Quote
Boris Johnson sends the EU THREE letters: One (not signed by him) asks to delay Brexit beyond Oct 31, the second makes clear the first is from Parliament - not the Government, and the third urges Brussels NOT to grant an extension

Macron is against the extension.

Of course he is. There’s going to be some in the EU who are going to want to let the U.K. get all the smoke they’re looking for.

I would not be surprised if that deal gets approved at the 11th hour on the idea that it’s nominally better than nothing.

From the sound of it, the deal is basically just an interim deal though that expires in a year or two. I suspect both sides think they will be able to negotiate from a place of power after Brexit is already done... but it’s a pretty huge gamble.

Looks like the EU is willing to grant an extension.
A possible new date could be one month later, according to the Guardian.

It never ends.

NDP has almost one-fifth of the vote so that shows you what kind of person Obama is, that he'd rather endorse the center-left party run by the "costume enthusiast" than the social-democratic party run by the Sikh.

Somebody check which parties that both Trudeau and Obama were at.

Obama would already be right of the party he did endorse.

Eh, looks like worst-case scenario is that they will only have a minority, so unlikely they will get to do too much damage.*

I agree to some extent that it won't hurt too bad at the federal level but not having a Lib government will let Ford and the other conservative premiers do a lot of damage with no federal government to check them.

No it's more, they can't risk the Tories getting in.  Also, they lead a dude with a turban when their stronghold in the last two elections was in xenophobic quebec.

This is wrong.  Why don't Americans vote green?  or have more than two real parties? They vote so strategically that they don't even get the chance to pretend about 11-dimensional chess.

It's also that just because the Libs don't campaign on an issue doesn't mean they don't support it.  The NDP can campaign on a lot of nice things because they don't have a chance of getting in.

Numbers might work for just Libs and NDP and with the NDP dying hard, it might make the minority stable for a good number of years.
