Just issue a retroactive surrender to Germany in WWII and get annexed.

In other news our government might resign today over a huge childcare benefits scandal.
Apparently they labeled poor people as frauds who were entitled to such benefits and then prosecuted them so they went bankrupt and got evicted.
Pressuring judges to hand out such orders and making sure that appeals went nowhere. As the debate about this scandal aired one of the victims received 46 fines in the mail for overdue payments.

Afterwards they tried to cover it up, stonewalled internal investigations and government workers lied under oath to investigators.

Our prime minister says his first focus is to compensate the families (which he promised to do as early as March this year before additional investigations showed this was all done deliberately by high level government officials to 'punish' these people for an offense they didn't commit). Involved are Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Treasury secretary (and leader of the Christian Democrats as of last week Wopke Hoekstra) and the former social services secretary and now Labour leader Lodewijk Asscher.

With only 3 months before the general elections this scandal could mean the end of Rutte's 10 year reign. The opposition wants him out but they're also keenly aware that their own parties have their skeletons to deal with not to mention COVID-19 has given the government additional powers to enact measures without parliamentary votes. It is unclear if those powers would still be in effect if the cabinet is 'decommisioned' and simply taking care of business until the next elections in March.
The only party not in complete disarray right now is Geert Wilders' PVV.

Our state minister, is refusing to take kids (as in actual kids, not like 17 year olds who travelled there) back from Syria who are Danish nationals, even if they are in camps there because their parents or father or whatever went there to fight. She is a truly disgusting cunt, and even marketed herself as 'the kids prime minster' a few times xd. On top of that, she is stubborn and keeping this guy as a minister for foreign affairs.

Russia has a new meme.

me: *tell my friend a secret and ask him not to disclose this to anyone*

my friend after 5 minutes:

Navalny called this member of the FSB suspecting he was the one who poisoned him considering he was seen around the hospital and airport and is officially a poison expert of sorts.
Navalny pretended to be a member of the security council. Surely enough the guy talked under the pressure and told Navalny he put the poison in Navalny's underwear  :doge
Also Navalny was supposed to have died on the plane but he didn't because the plane landed too quickly. So the FSB guy went to the hospital to try again and clean up the evidence but there was too much attention.
He admitted this all on the phone to Navalny (who acted as a member of the security council).

So now there's memes, lots of them. "Putin makes his bodyguards wear his underwear to make sure they're not poisoned"

The agreement seems better than the situation today as far as trade is concerned. Currently China can basically do whatever the fuck they want in countries like Greece within existing outdated treaties and EU corpo's can't do business there.
But other than that there isn't much that stops China from cheating, stealing and violating human rights on a massive scale.

Anyway the Germans are happy they can sell cars that don't break and other high quality goods more easily to Chinese consumers now.

Macron looks like he entered the wrong zoom chat lol.

spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anyhow it's really a German led EU now because this deal only happened because Merkel wanted it to but unlike Juncker it looks like Ursula is sober most of the time and mostly getting things done so that's an improvement at least.

Quote
Why is Sainsbury's selling Spar products?

If you have been into a Sainsbury's in Northern Ireland in recent days you may have seen something unusual.

Spar branded products on the shelves.

Sainsbury's has not taken over the convenience retailer or vice versa.

Instead what you are seeing is a contingency plan for the new Irish Sea border.

On 31 December, England, Scotland and Wales left the EU's single market for goods but NI did not.

This created a new trade and regulatory border between NI and the rest of the UK.

It means that food products entering NI from GB must undergo a range of time consuming new processes such as the creation of export health certificates and checks at new border posts.

In response, supermarkets have been looking at ways to source more products in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

For Sainsbury's that has meant signing a contract with Henderson Group, one of Northern Ireland's biggest food wholesalers which sells to retailers and caterers.

But the retailers they supply are almost exclusively a network of 450 Spar and Vivo stores across NI.

That is why some of the products they are providing to Sainsbury's have Spar branding.

 :lol

The fact that Twitter removed the Chinese Embassy tweet is far more concerning than any action they took against Trump.

Are they going to do this for all foreign government accounts now that might not agree with the accepted version of the truth? Who is deciding that truth? The US media is incapable of agreeing what the truth is domestically, let alone internationally, and if it is the US government who is deciding what's "the truth" then we all know how that turns out.

What about all the RT tweets that spout Russian state propaganda? What about all the Chinese state controlled media/propaganda accounts?

What's the reasoning behind removing the embassy tweet? Is it just because enough people complained about it? That's a slippery slope and not a policy that Twitter is capable of applying universally.

I think it has to do with the "making them no longer baby-making machines" bit.
Which seems to go against Twitter's policy. They censored the Ayatollah for the first time as well this week.
The Ayatollah posted an anti-vaxx tweet saying the EU and US vaccines were created to infect the world.

Lots of firsts.
