Gove stays, Minister of Defense also stays.
Guess the foreign minister holds the key to the fort.

The question is, did he shoot himself in the back of the head before or after he committed suicide by drowning himself in the pool?

The situation in Europe right now is that Germany and France want a negotiated peace ASAP so gas and oil deliveries can be restored and England wants to stand and fight alongside Poland.
It is likely a new PM would focus on domestic issues first and probably has to listen to the opposition to build trust. Labour's position is very much in line with France and Germany.
Even in his own party ranks Boris' unwavering commitment to the fight in Ukraine is quite unique. The UK has acted quickly and delivered supplies when it mattered most.

For the US it's always important that Europe is in the fight as much as they are. This is just not the case for a number of core EU countries like Italy, The Netherlands and Germany.
If the UK is in the process of some sort of 'transition of power' for a week or 2 it will significantly weaken the war effort.

The UK's support has been no different in term of actions than what the vast majority of other countries (bar Germany who keeps dancing around) have been doing. They're just far less vocal about it. And we all know what to do with stuff - like "we're leading the world in supporting Ukraine" - that comes out of Boris' mouth.

The best sub-plot in all of this has been Zahawi getting appointed chancellor, knifing Boris less than 24 hours later, and then publicly telling him to get gone him on his new Treasury stationery :lol

And in the same 24 hour span, this amazing story came out but everyone was too distracted to notice

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/chancellor-nadhim-zahawi-nca-investigation-b2117197.html

Quote
New chancellor Nadhim Zahawi’s finances were secretly investigated by the National Crime Agency (NCA), The Independent can disclose.

A senior serving Whitehall figure has revealed that a number of individuals were formally approached by officials from the NCA about the matter in 2020.

The NCA said they were seeking information about multimillionaire Mr Zahawi’s finances, stated the source. The inquiry was codenamed “Operation Catalufa” and is understood to have involved the agency’s International Corruption Unit.

Catalufa, known as “Popeye Catalufa”, is a species of ray finned fish, orange in colour, found in deep waters in the Pacific.

Whitehall officials were told the inquiry was top secret and that Mr Zahawi had not been informed about it. The NCA inquiry did not lead to any action against Mr Zahawi. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by him.

The first Mr Zahawi knew about the matter was when he was informed by The Independent on Wednesday.

His initial reaction was: “There was no such investigation by [the] NCA. I would know. Right?”

That was anti-brexit activist Steve Bray. He also played the parody song Bye Bye Boris during the speech. Starts a few seconds in and goes on for several minutes, you can hear it if you listen closely.

He started to play the Benny Hill theme just as Johnson was done.

Let's hope the Conservatives pick Ben Wallace to replace Boris.

not gonna lie it's weird that i get better coverage of the dutch protests from thebore than i do from swedish msm

i don't quite know why they are obviously censoring the topic, but they won't print a word about it until it turns violent (but trigger happy cops don't count)

Weapon is some hardware store material taped together, literally. Shooter must’ve been close. Crazy to imagine somebody getting that close. Stories keep stressing gun violence is rare and political violence is unheard of.

Sorry, can't abide by de mortuis nil nisi bonum in this case. Abe was corrupt and took Japan into the wrong direction. He may not have been fascist, but calling him fascist-adjacent would not be an unjust assessment (corruption, nationalism, militarism).

Seems like the security was relaxed/confused. There's a clip that shows that Abe wasn't even hit until the second shot.

It's not really graphic besides seeing Abe collapsing but I'll post it behind a spoiler anyway

Abe was an influential diplomat and statesman for sure. He was liked by pretty much all the leaders across the west which is not an easy feat.
Overall he integrated Japan (which has a history of isolation) further into the global community and made it a very reliable ally.

I'm sure he made mistakes along the way and whatnot but when you look at how Russia and other countries developed post WW2 I would hardly consider it the 'wrong direction'.

That wasn't aimed at this forum but at international leaders and most of the media who are now praising him because he is dead. No gravedancing, just facts. His assassination may actually help his corrupt party (LDP) to further his agenda (now under Kishida), so thanks a lot to his killer.
