Eh. The point I was trying to make is some members of the staff could on a whole, be a hell of a lot more professional when it comes to their job. The childish dancing and preening when they ban somebody is silly, as are the messages they leave to people who can't respond.  The system is such that we don't really know which mods are the ones acting like that, and I'm sure it's not all of them, but for the ones it does apply to, a healthy amount of acting like an adult wouldn't hurt.

A couple of more might pop in to lurk once in a blue moon, but -- and I'm not saying this to make people drop their guard -- I don't really think this is utilized as a prime spot to monitor so as to keep tabs on troublemakers so we can drop the hammer on them on GAF.

Also, we generally don't make a point of attempting to police what people say off site. I'm not saying that what you say here won't get back to the person you're talking about, but you're not going to get banned for saying "I think mod x sucks" here.

i could swear i remember reading lots of complaints at one point about too many mods being humorless stick in the muds and how gaf could use more character and less hugboxing. now its concerns about professionalism. must have been different ppl making those complaints.

i personally enjoy a bit of mild dickishness on occasion, stump was being enjoyably mean in that one thread today!

At worst, I might harbor a slight grudge that might make you more of a target for me on GAF. But honestly, I'd be more likely to just ignore you on GAF so as not to appear petty. But either way, I wouldn't ban you for telling me off here. It's not really our policy to police off-site shenanigans. The only time it might matter is if it corroborates something that we'd ban for anyway. For instance, say Dennis creates an alt account to circumvent his GAF ban, and we suspect that he's done this but can't prove it. Posting here about his alt account would be a bad idea.

And anyway, aside from the fact that I know you're joking, I couldn't do anything to you anyway on GAF. I know you here, but I honestly don't know what your GAF account even is.

It's not really a one or the other situation, stump is the best moderator i have seen in any community ever, for my part I want mods to have a personality. I dont want that personality to be making petty snipes at people after they are banned, acting like massive children when moderating, banning for opinions you dont agree with, harboring petty grudges, being unable to deal with criticism, threatening bans on people who dont agree with you, antagonizing posters into bans etc. All I want mods to do before they act on their urges is to ask themselves 'what would stump do?'

1. Yes I do. Tangent: the other week someone said they liked me because I was true to myself.
2. They brought it up when I said I didn't smoke while initially looking at the place. I had to calmly and at an eighth grade level explain that doing my job requires me to abet activities far more pernicious than smoking while in possession of a red card (I think this is the correct term for having a prescription?) and that I'm paid to keep my mouth shut since I'm not (yet) bound by any accreditation standards.
3. I think it prudent to observe their smoking patterns before offering advice. I get the feeling these people are pretty hardened stoners with many years of experience already.

My Godparent's nephew died of a brain aneurysm last month. Out of the blue.
