I get a nostalgic/heartwarming kick out of the single player of Pokemon but I know that doesn't apply to everyone.

Bobby's World was the only thing on at 7 AM and that's why I watched it.  If I had choices, I would've watched something else.

Luckily Batman TAS was on at 7:30.

Fuck, they don't make stuff like Batman TAS anymore.

i'm assuming gift. we also have a ton of rabbits in our yard, and while they have dug an escape hole to run away, I fully expect to find them tossing an almost-dead one to each other one of these nights.

I've seen maybe 5 episodes of Korra and they were all right.

Never seen Avatar outside of a few hours of the Shyamalan movie, which I take to be akin to the Hollywood DBZ movie with the guy from Buffy playing Piccolo.

Avatar's great. That season two finale was some hype shit, let me tell you.

Korra... doesn't measure up at all, but I quit after the first season.

haha that avatar movie. i know nothing about the show and it was awful. our group of dudes use to have a movie night, where someone would get to pick a movie (usually something beyond awful, I don't think we ever picked something remotely decent) and we all had to dealwithit* and watch; so we all decided to annoy a friend who was a huge fan of the show by picking that abomination. I think every aspect of that movie pissed him off :lol

actually, andy, the marriage thing isn't false.  it was buffed out in the english translation for obvious squick reasons, but in japanese, it says clear as day:

"ひとと けっこんした ポケモンがいた
ポケモンと けっこんした ひとがいた
むかしは ひとも ポケモンも おなじだったから ふつうのことだった"

which means:

"People used to marry Pokemon
Pokemon used to marry people
In older times, because people and Pokemon were the same, this was a normal thing"

never watched it high, but I would say no, it's just an ugly (seriously, it's weirdly drab and shot strangely) boring movie.

however, bucky larson is a mindtrip in and of itself, no drugs necessary. it's a great hang out and watch movie. you'll be asking yourself 'who greenlit this' every 5 minutes.

The marriage thing is false.

Quote

There once were Pokémon that
became very close to humans.
There once were humans and Pokémon
that ate together at the same table.
It was a time when there existed no
differences to distinguish the two.

In the literal translation of Sinnoh Folk Story 3, the myth originally referred to Pokémon and people marrying each other.

"No differences" is metaphorical, it basically describes some kind of past utopian society where Pokemon and humans were equals.

This is like when people misquote the Bible to prove a point, except that this time it's furries.

As to the question, it depends on what is meant by "people." I think Mewtwo, Meowth, etc. prove they can be just as sentient as people. But they're not "people" in the sense that they not homo sapiens. And obviously, whatever genetic trait that allows them to be caught in Pokeballs isn't present in humans.

god help me for what i am about to do

Are you sure that's not supposed to mean:

"People used to marry Pokemon" in like... a sermon sense? Two Pokemon getting married by a human. Vice-versa or something?

Just seems weird the way they word it like that. I guess it's to make the Japanese wording easy for kids to read if that's the case, but damn...

No. Ke'konshita literally means to marry in a past tense.

the n64 stick actually had a way larger throw than almost any analogue stick since, the shaft was like a pine needle, pretty tall and had a lot of room to move around.

it was scritchy as all hell due to its grinding ball joint, but had a lot more resolution to offer than the fat, stubby sticks that everyone uses today.
« Last Edit: August 09, 2014, 09:51:35 AM by headwalk »

The analog stick itself was fine aside from the fact that it had a tendency to wear down over time. I think I had to replace three or four controllers over time because the stick's natural center would just have more Andorra give over time to the point where the controller would become effectively useless.

Any list that has n64/gc controllers is biased and shit.

The best controllers, and not in this order are:

Saturn/genesis 6 button 2d controller. Full stop.
Dual shock 1.
Xbox S controller.
Xbox 360, all upgrades and revisions.
Wiimote, depending on the game. 2d games were fantastic with it.
Super Nintendo.
