I think it's pretty silly to spend 400 bucks on some unknown internet forum person.

I think it's also pretty shitty to have the balls to complain about what you got when you have no idea what the person on the other end is going through.

But it's GAF tho, so of course they're going to find a way to take some basic human interaction and muck it all up.

I mean to their credit most of them were very complementary even if they got something small, but there are always going to be a few shitheads who see one guy got a VITA and some games and cry about it. I witnessed better behavior in 3 year old children this year.

COD4 was super accessible, but the hype never made sense to me. It had very little gameplay depth compared to Halo 3. It was probably a little easier to get into though. Kind of the Blink 182 of shooters.

The fact that COD outsold it doesn't mean that Halo should copy features like sprint that feel very foreign to the game.

Easy to get into. Fun to play. Turn your mind off fun.

Halo:

Alright to get into. Boring to play (unless you're one of those MAH BATTLERIFLE/PISTOL people). Can't really turn your mind off for fun.

Unless you're playing Big Team Battle, which was alright until you play Battlefield which does the Big Team Battle sandboxing better.

Sprint and ADS are the least of Halo's "new additions" problems. The problem is that Halo's sci-fi hasn't increased since 343 took over. Destiny has this same problem. Destiny's sci-fi just feels like "Halo without the Halo name attached" while Halo's is "343 is trying to humanize characters but can't really."

Gameplay-wise: Armor abilities is a :ufup problem, not the sprint or ADS. They can speed the game up to Call of Duty levels without raising the TTK significantly and feel "modern" but they continue to fuck up due to the "molasses" slow aiming speed IMO. Then throw in the armor abilities that fuck you like armor lock and yeah.

I'm one of those battle rifle/pistol people.

The gunplay in H3 was just far beyond COD4, IMO.

Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew = Guy still has 1/2 his health left.

That was my only issue with H3.

Toku is right. They should just have a side studio remake Halo 1-3 over and over again because you guys don't want anything new.

They can't even do that right

BF2 was garbage. You couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with an entire clip in any of the infantry weapons. It was all vehicle spawn camping because that was literally the only way to get anything done in the game. All of the chinese maps sucked and the rest were okay to passable. There was a reason why halfway into the games first year Karakan 24/7 maps popped up. Hint: It was the only decent map in the entire game.

Get these nostalgia glasses outta here.

The fact that the most popular mod for the game made shit more realistic by basically making guns actually act like guns (you know, able to kill other players) should tell you a lot about the fucking game.

BF2 infantry combat was borked because hip firing/using your crosshair would net you faster kills and more accurate kills. Aiming down the sight is only useful for slow semi automatic fire down range, automatic fire is useless when aiming down the sight. The bullet spread will become magically shitty when using a sight. There definitely was a learning curve, but BF2 combat is satisfying.

The flying controls on the other hand, probably the worst flight controls of all time. ARMA flying controls are less fucked up and heavy feeling, and that series is a goddamn infantry combat simulator.

The problem with Battlefield 4 is the ADD/ADHD design. Why in the fuck does there need to be 60+ weapons, each weapon having 10+ unlockable attachments, different kits for each class, 50+ weapon skins, vehicle customization, 15+ fucking knifes and blades. I play Battlefield for massive maps with skirmishes all over the map, with classes influencing how someone plays or should play. BF4 is building your own fantasy soldier to fight against other fantasy soldiers. You can spend 5-10 minutes just equipping shit.

"How can we change this formula and make it play differently than past games in the timespan of two or so years? We don't have that much time to make this."

"We can't, add all the shit you possibly can, people crave content, we'll give it to them."
OH!

Major problem in Rush is the choke-points, otherwise it has flanking options unlike Metro. On Conquest only B/the middle flag in the alley is hellacious otherwise you can play "musical chairs" and go around the map by ignoring the middle with vehicles.

My favorite part of BF2142 is how EA gave it away to promote Origin and then like less than two months later said "lol no fuck off" regarding GameSpy being the only server support in it.

I don't remember why I never played as much of it as 2, maybe only like one other person I knew bought it. Or could run it? I have memories of it being "PC INTENSIVE" even though it's really more like a modded BF2 in terms of graphics/etc mostly because of bugs at launch.

Well the flagship mode was broken for like a year. The Titans (those ships that acted as bases and you were trying to take) or w/e caused very intense lag whenever the moved and the only fix they could find for it was to make them static. But it took them forever to acknowledge and fix it.

BC2 is the best modern battlefield though. Great game and it's a shame they seem to have abandoned that series. They still haven't topped it and I liked 3 a lot.

nicca quake wars came out almost over a year AFTER 2142 and no one on earth has ever name dropped quake wars in a good light outside of GAF because real heads were still (and still are) about that ET life.

EDIT: see yea what PD was saying. Quake Wars ending up bombing because people just wanted ET reskinned. They didn't want a whole new game. People still play that shit, people still love it, people still think its the pinnacle of competitive class/team based fps multiplayer.

I think BC2 even has a borderline...great...single player. Coming down the hill in the snowstorm through the village, the "open world" desert level, etc. had some of the kind of slight gameplay tweaks to the modern military formula that I'd like to see more of. Plus it doesn't take itself too seriously except mock seriously.

Though AW has a couple in multiplayer once you realize how the jetpacks or whatever can totally break the game for anyone whose patterns still indicate two dimensional thinking. (Then again recently watching a couple of old 3DO devs play POed on YouTube made me aware that even that's not original and was somehow done better in many ways on the 3DO lol)

CoD 2 was super fun though.
I still think Call of Duty 2 has arguably the best single player of the series that I've played because of the circular looping maps. Especially in the Russian campaign.

Can't speak for the multiplayer because:
A. UO
2. DoD/DoD:S were my mainlined WW2 games after a short period of taking a few hits off MoH:AA and an extended one for Battlefield 1942.

Quake Wars :tocry

It was initially reported as a sequel to ET...then the Quake news came and I was like ok...could still be awesome. Nah.
I think Splash Damage is/were the original ET guys. But Quake Wars, Brink and Batman: Arkham Origins don't show it at all.

Actually parts of Brink do try with the (fairly) complex objectives, like Rush somewhat does in BC/BF, except that it's unnecessary to complete the objectives for people who want to just TDM towards leveling up.

So the two people who are trying to complete the objective are just making a series of suicide runs.

EDIT: I think you do level up faster from completing map and class objectives, but not substantially more than just deathmatching.

Which I think is part of what kills all the modes that CoD adds and then has zero people in the playlists. You get like 50, maybe 100 more XP than just shooting a dude.

I tried really really really hard to love Brink. I bought it day one.

On CoD, Kill Confirmed was/is probably my favorite addition in recent years to the series but everyone just ends up playing it like TDM.

I hate that Ground War is always dead. During one of the Steam free weekends for MW3 it was actually active and reminded me how much better it plays than the regular 6 on 6 versions on all but a few tiny maps. And the auto-cycling between playmodes makes the game more interesting. (Even if it is just TDM/Domination/Kill Confirmed.)

I guess blops 2 has the Nuketown/Hijacked mode which does the mode cycling. Though people quit out of the lobby half the time when it goes away from TDM.

Sometimes I'll sit in a Headquarters lobby pretending it's UO and will fill up in just a minute. (And Hardpoint pretending that people will click it by accident or out of curiosity.)

some stupid shit on this page.

bf2: special forces has yet to be surpassed in the series. warlord goat map.

some of you f@ggots are whining about the gun play, but that shows how much you suck. bf2 guns had real spread and recoil unlike the laser pewpew bullshit of 3 and 4. the l85 with its scope was a bitch to figure out, but its learning curve made it satisfying once mastered.

and lol @ heli controls being worse than arma. try again distinguished mentally-challenged fellows.

never played the first bad company, but bc2 is the next best in the series.

suck on it.
