I don't really see the pacing issues since it takes about 15-30 minutes to figure out a route through the guards unless you abuse tranqs but even then you don't have infinite ammo so you have to save your tranqs and find tranq ammo and the like. Once you get past those, the cutscenes are generally ~5-15 mins max unless you're in MGS4 which is OH GOD WHYYYYYYY in terms of cutscenes (Act 5 before the fist fight. WHYYYYY).

Then you haven't played MGS2 and MGS3 in a long time  :P

MGS2 has at least 2-4 hours of cutscenes, 1-2 hours of codec talk. MGS3 has about 2-4 hours of cutscenes with a lot less codec talk. The beginning of The Plant chapter is brutal, you take a few steps before the colonel forces a interruption or a cutscene starts.

Don't know what "abusing tranqs" means, unless you want to handicap yourself on purpose on lower difficulties, it doesn't make sense to not use the tranq pistol. Not using the tranq pistol in MGS2 on European Extreme means you won't beat the game, or rather, you're going to be choking a lot of dudes.

MGS as a franchise is also really easy unless you play on harder difficulties, it shouldn't take 15 minutes to clear any area in any MGS game. MGS1 can be beat under 3 hours skipping cutscenes. MGS2 can be beat under 3 hours skipping cutscenes, MGS3 can be beat under five hours skipping cutscenes.

MGS3 also has the Virtuous mission when it comes to pacing, which is one hour of story stuff and exposition, with 10 minutes of gameplay.

MGS2 has five hours of cutscenes and codec story moments, random codec convos aren't counted. MGS3 has around four hours of cutscenes. MGS4 also has around five hours of cutscenes.

Sources are youtube vids. MGS2 has more cutscene time than gameplay time depending on how you play the game. MGS3 is 50/50 depending on how you play the game.

both of those games took way more gameplay time than cutscene time the first time through.  not so much with mgs4

Definitely true regarding MGS2 and MGS3.

MGS2 is around 12-15 hours the first time through, MGS3 is around 14-17 hours the first time through. MGS1 is around 8-10 hours.

And to finally confirm, yes Jeff is reviewing/has reviewed The Order but more likely can't say anything yet due to the embargo.

Quick Look is expected to be up this week so i'm gonna place it for tomorrow (supposedly when the embargo is lifted) or maybe early Friday (if the embargo is actually on release day  :lol)

it sounds like its been around but in those days reviews usually appear a day or so before release (or even after due to them actually having to buy the game) and now it got easier to get games early from pubs due to digital, etc

it works in that way or if the game is getting rave reviews they can bundle them up for a bit before releasing, but yea it seems to be more of what you said as of late (the biggest culprit so was AC Unity where its embargo finished hours after it was fucking released and on shelves  :lol)

they have no increments so that 3.4 stars is either 3 stars or 4 star. I'm personally predicting a 3 at most and a 2 at worst but i will need some pieces of opinion first (usually the QL can give some of that) .

we'll see

I like collecting computers and computer parts...

It feels a little bit like collecting consoles. Like... a lot of people on NeoGAF, I collect consoles and video game systems. Some of them are PCs like the PC-98 and FM Towns and things like that.

But I also collect parts. I feel like, with so many motherboard types. I want to have the best CPU for every motherboard type and try them out. And one graphics card from every series.

That's very expensive. Especially since I like to have a lot of them running at the same time. I would like to have some solar panels to lower the electric bill. Luckily, I do use them for something while they're running, I have them do fold@home. Because of them, I have several million points.

If I knew what I was doing.. I would also use them on Bitcoin..

What is this? Must I grudgingly give respect to HolyBaikal?

In modern next gen parlance if a company doesn't have their reviews out before release avoid at all costs.

If the Order was getting 9s and 10s Sony would have lifted the Embargo. 6,7 and 8's don't sell new IP.

What do you do now that your content can be copied and streamed to thousands just because they got an early copy?

The realization that you spent more time on an OT than the guy spent on the game's narrative :(

Ha bro I wish you all the luck in the the world. When I started making the MGS4 thread I pretty much read every piece of information I could find on the lore of the whole franchise and when I was done I probably could have gotten a doctorate in MGS Lore but then I played 4 and I honestly couldn't figure out what in the hell was going on.

Every time I see some FF 15 thread I feel really confused. Am I alone in thinking FF 15 looks pretty awful? The car is all kinds of wtf.
I want to believe.  Don't fuck this up for me man

Targeting children who will scream until they get what they want and shut-ins with nothing else to spend their money on? I dunno, sounds like a good business decision to me.
