Was that any good?

Didn't hold a candle to the Capcom ones and was quickly found to be pretty broken, IIRC.  Maybe this will be better.

Was listening to some Guilty Gear music and I started thinking if they ever make a live action GG, Zack Snyder would be the perfect fit haha. 3 hours long, lots of slow-mo, epic power ballads.

KOF XV got datamined.  Not sure if there's pics of everyone, but saw two of the characters.  SNK asked the people who originally posted the info to remove the posts, too.  Seems to be legit.

So it will be:

Team Garou (Out now)- Rock, B. Jenet, and Gato
Team Southtown (May)- Geese, Billy, and Yamazaki
Team Orochi- Orochi Yashiro, Orochi Chris, and Orochi Shermie (new designs)
Team Samurai Shodown- Haohmaru, Nakoruru, and Darli Dagger

There was also info found for Omega Rugal.  New boss fight?

No Kim is baffling.

Nonbinary Testament redesign. Looks great!
Also PC/Playstation cross-play! And S2 announced with 4 characters.

Testament is a nice surprise since they weren't in Xrd. Now that S1 is done gotta find time to sit down and try out all 5 DLC characters. Guessing S2 has to have Dizzy as one of the four.

Geese looks the worst of the three, but Billy Kane looks really good and Yamazaki too.

I've always liked playing as Billy Kane. Fun moveset.

Roster leak:

-I don't know about some of those returning character designs, but it probably won't matter since they're sure to sell a ton of outfits as DLC.

-Really don't know about some of those new character designs, although I like the way JP looks.  Hell of a lot better than G in SFV, lol.

So what do you guys think about SF6? The aesthetic still looks kinda rough to me but it's early and I'm loving some of these character designs.
The system sounds like they're making all the right decisions too, but we'll have to see how the frame data is designed, damage, input lag, etc. Consider me cautiously optimistic.

Capcom also seems way more confident in this launch than they did last time around considering the amount of info they dropped yesterday, all of which can be found here: https://streetfighter.com/6/en-us/

edit: lol wow Bork on the same wavelength.

I think the designs are really good for everyone.

The in-game aesthetic is nice, but it just makes me feel like fighting game graphics have plateaud and will never get any better since this just looks like SFV on a technical level (maybe even less character detail)

The run around the world in 3d like those NBA2K modes could be fun. All for something new for single player portion of fighting games.

Glad we're getting a lot of new characters from the start.

But on the other hand I am so sick and tired of every new SF game just being the original SF2 roster + new characters and maybe throw in a character or two from the later games (i.e. Rashid and Juri in this). I really wish they just ditched some of the SF2 originals and for the returning cast gave a better balance of Alpha/III/IV/V returning characters. I'm just..tired of the SF2 cast. Do we really need Akuma back taking a slot over a more interesting returning character?

El Fuerte was pretty cool yeah, even if he was just kinda the same character from VF5 (who was amazing in VF5).

Well, let's be fair here- everything we're seeing is early footage and it will change.  This isn't coming out until sometime next year.  If you look at early footage of Street Fighter V, the game didn't end up looking quite the same by the time it released.  I also wonder if it's being held back by the game also being a PS4 and Xbox One(?) release.

But on the other hand I am so sick and tired of every new SF game just being the original SF2 roster + new characters and maybe throw in a character or two from the later games (i.e. Rashid and Juri in this). I think it has to do with Street Fighter III.  It had a very bad reception and SF4, which initially was just the SF2CE roster along with four new characters (later Akuma too), was much, much more popular.  I agree with this though.  You need some returning characters, but I'd like to see a lot of new ones, even if some are replacements for older ones and play the same.  Capcom doesn't tend to do this as much- look at say, Sakura and Sean, who are "shotos" but don't play like Ken and Ryu, versus new Tekken entries where you'll have Jin replacing Kazuya, Julia replacing Michelle, etc.  A core cast of returning faces is fine to me and if this game was just Ryu, Ken (IMO you don't need both but it's a classic thing), Chun, Cammy, and say Guile I think that would be more than enough for the SF2 cast.

Capcom Fighting Collection is out.  I double-dipped on it-

The game is pretty awesome online on Steam.  Great connections in matches I played and seemed like plenty of people were on.  Had no trouble getting constant matches.

On Switch, the online is so bad that it might as well not even have an online mode.  Possibly the worst netcode I've experienced in a fighting game online on that platform.

Nintendo has a new online system but they aren't using it yet so third parties probably aren't using it either.

I love Nintendo but they're really backwards with such things.
Interested in the collection mostly because of the Darkstalkers games but I want it a bit cheaper than it is now.
Not to mention it looks like a game that could be on GamePass within a few months.

HORI PlayStation 5 Fighting Commander OCTA is out- works on PS4/PS5/PC.  Ordered and hopefully it will work nicely with the PS5.  I have the XBox/PC one and I wasn't impressed with the d-pad, but am hoping they improved things or that the one I got was just a lemon.

This is old news, but it was good to see it reiterated.

-P4 Arena Ultimax rollback patch is now live for PS4 and Steam

-Samurai Shodown (2019) is getting rollback netcode added!

-KOF XV is getting cross-play added for ALL platforms!

Glad to see the XX characters that missed Xrd like Anji/Testament/Bridget get in. I think the only other characters from XX that weren't in 3rd would be Zappa/Cliff/Justice/ABA?

Don't think people want Cliff/Justice that much. Zappa is awesome so I'd love to see him come back. ABA is weird so she's probably the most likely  :lol

Granblue Versus is free on PS+ this month. Will be nice to finally try the only Arc Sys fighter I haven't played (not counting DFO since it's made by Eighting and just published by Arc Sys). Was never cheap enough to buy just to try since it doesn't seem my thing and I have no interest in the IP, but definitely want to try it out.

Worth a try- I ultimately didn't really care for it (bad online and could never find a main) and found the story mode bad.  Guessing it also doesn't have all those DLC characters included.

Capcom appears to be doing everything right with this game. Gotdamn.
The only potentially bad thing I can point out is that the Playstation Home-esque arcade lobbies will get tiresome if you're forced to use them for ranked.

The art style is the closest they've ever gotten to reaching the SSF2 style in 3D and those have always been some of my favorites from the series. Hype is through the roof for me.

Anyone else got into the SF6 beta? It looks and plays great. Kimberly is my girl for now.

Took me a bit to get used to the lobby/hub and to figure out how to switch the controls from Modern to Classic. The modern aka noob controls were really fucking me up, but I can see them making the game more accessible I guess for kids who just wanna button mash.

I'm very sad that I didn't get a code. It's my own damn fault for not connecting my Steam account to my Capcom account but I was haphazardly signing up during work and didn't think too much about it since expected a technical test style of beta with a lot of downtime.

The fact that it was running more smoothly than the actual launch of Overwatch 2 is seriously impressive and it was killing me last week since I also happened to take PTO for once.

I hope somebody cracks the beta so I can at least use practice mode. :P

I haven't played 5 in forever, but 6 feels better and more fluid from what I can remember. I'll try to play some more after work today before the beta ends. I just realized yesterday that I received a code.

6 has universal parries, focus attacks, FADCs, and alpha counters.

The focus attack equivalent (Drive Impact) works differently in that it can be directly countered by another DI but the damage will be severely scaled. It awards a crumple midscreen but a full wall bounce in the corner. So it adds another option to think about in your rps mental stack to deal with.

Parries can be performed on wake up and it will award a perfect parry on a meaty hit (also with highly scaled damage), so that will diversify the wake up game as well.

Just thinking about mechanics and their ease of use I'm guessing that beginners will struggle with countering drive impacts, slightly more skilled players will usually counter DIs with a DI, and the high-level players will be focused on baiting out DIs and punishing them with multihit combos, throws, etc.

Also, every round now begins with a full meter for both players that all of these universal mechanics + ex moves require. It regenerates over time but when it runs out you will enter a "Burned out" state where you take more chip damage and have worse frame data. Traditional stun now only happens when you are burned out and get DI'd in the corner.

Overall there are way more defensive options than SFV and the only comeback mechanic is a separate super bar that can be used to setup higher damage combos.

I finally tried Fighting Ex Layer. I really like how this feels. But going through training mode I don't like how few moves characters have. They have like a couple of special moves and otherwise it's just all about normals and a few supers. Also it's generally not very flashy. But it feels super good to play.

It feels very much like a throwback to the EX game and original Fighting Layer from the late 90s.  Not much has changed which can be good or bad, depending on how you want to look at it!
