You don't want to invade the entire middle east and institute freedom?!?!
You must be an favor of isolationism.
The hard-on for pie-in-the-sky hawkish policies has always been honestly, to me, the most disturbing (and revealing) axis of discussion in PoliGAF and I say that as someone who accepts that bombing foreigners is often a viable way to further / defend national interests (yours, theirs somewhat by chance once every blue moon). They say a lot of dumb things but aren't we all ? I'm certainly no expert in any relevant topic there and politics is WOAT level of discussion 99% of the time anyway. But it really takes a special kind of hubris and stupidity to think the US (or "the West") could at will create secular democracies in North Africa and the Middle East if only they really meant it, especially after the Irak and Afghanistan wars... or you know, reading international news for longer than a week.
Then again I guess that when you assert the Arab Spring can be reduced to
"it was pretty damn obvious that the people were saying that they wanted democracy" or pushing the disingenuous
"I'm pretty sure we had international backing when it came to getting involved in Libya." (International backing collapsed almost immediately when some argued that the spirit of the limited in scope UN resolution was betrayed by NATO powers), I guess you're kinda there.
Swimming upthread, the whole discussion starts with this gem :
2) Like I said, there is a very good argument to be made that we were gonna be involved in Iraq anyway due to the Arab Spring. Obviously fuck Bush for making up bullshit reasons for going into Iraq and then making us waste resources looking for nonexistent WMDs and nonexistent connections to Al-Qaeda (instead of focusing on helping Iraq rebuild into a secular democracy).

Trump and W ended American hegemony.
We no longer have standing or reputation in the world.
Don't worry love, you still have as of now this massive army, thousands of nukes, network of international bases and countries relying on your guarantees. Goodwill is easier to replenish. Russians are doing just fine despite being a stunted state for decades, or so I've been told by GAF.
