tbh, I think GAF was more fun when they had posters like terrisus and huelen. There was something innocent and endearing about them in an "aww, bless their heart" kind of way.

terrisus and Huelen were terrible. Good fodder for this thread but that's about it. Still plenty of terrible spergs on gaming side.

I do it too if the stuff is frozen solid.

Ever try to eat one of those Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cakes? You need a knife and fork sometimes.

Moral of the story = is there ice cream in front of you? Do what it takes to get it in your speak hole. I have a kid and this stuff will vanish.

I do not dine at Dairy Queen, only the finest Italian gelato for me sir.

These fuckers are spiteful, hateful people deep down.  They always need something to rage against to justify why they're not where they wanted to be in their lives so it's little surprise that they will quickly turn on their own.

Looks like FartofWar may have finally got a perm. If it is a perm, I would not be surprised. He often didn't follow the hivemind on GAF, and was vocal about not doing so. That pretty much makes you a number one target for a ban. Doing so repeatedly makes a perm almost a certainty. The only thing surprising is that he lasted this long. I guess his industry status gave him a bit more wiggle room with the mods.

Shawn Elliot was the best thing about the podcasts of that era - especially GFW Radio.

I don't listen to games podcasts anymore.

All because of what? What is the point exactly of driving away everyone that actually made the forum into a nexus of hardcore gamers?

How does it make sense money-wise to ban industry people and long-time members (like that one member who shall remain nameless who saved PC gaming in 2009-20111) from a gaming forum?

What is the end game?

If Evilore's goal is to cultivate a wishy-washy, easily controlled userbase that would be sympathetic to ads and the eventual GAF gold, then weeding out "problematic" members that goes against that grain is a necessity.

Oreo cheesecake blizzards aren't necessarily the closest thing to sex, but Oreo cheesecake is.

Specifically the Oreo Dream at Cheesecake Factory.

You forgot this part:
Quote
Anyone dropping by to note something like, "the game is the grind" from this post on is getting banned, BTW. The OP is asking about the Destiny collection on sale right now, not your recollection of the game from two years ago.

Going through the TTK content will get you into the 300's comfortably. The drop systems are designed to keep moving you higher at the same clip, despite hitting level 40, and you'll be buying level 350 gear from the tower before much longer.

But as Kor said, you can skip around if you want as well.
The *new* grind is still a grind. You go through the same zones and enter the same "dungeons" and kill the same enemies, the only difference being that they have slightly different objectives/you walk backwards through the dungeon you already visited.

But w/e, if you know what iLevels armor/weapons are, and what player level corresponds to them, you're more invested than most hardcore MMO players.

Durr grind is still a grind, nobody believes it isn't. It's just a question of how pleasant the hamster wheel is, now they might occasionally refill the water bottle and food dispenser.

Hurray! You've deconstructed games!

Only half-kidding cuz.

Destiny at it's start was always a game that people wanted to like because it got so much right but was broken in so many ways. Some shrugged and grinded, some held their noses and played on, some wanted out of this particular Skinner box ASAP.

It never reached it's potential, but wasn't really a broken game by the time TKK came out. Still flawed tho.  :beli

Just for some reason hearing two year old hyperbole grinds my gears  :punch . And I'm not even a fanboy, only got halfway through TKK and haven't got the new xpac yet.

I'm having trouble believing a game like Destiny couldn't legitimately be described as a "grind", even if they've lessened the "grind" from what it was, originally.

We are talking about a guy who perma banned people he considered friends because they told him he should maybe get some help with some of the things he was struggling with emotionally instead of trying to fuck his way across Europe. He doesn't want to be surrounded with contrarian ideas about anything.

I'd like to clarify this earlier message:
Closest thing to sex is an Oreo Cheesecake blizzard

Oreo smores and the old espresso one gets a major shout out too
Oreo cheesecake blizzards aren't necessarily the closest thing to sex, but Oreo cheesecake is.

Specifically the Oreo Dream at Cheesecake Factory.

If you are not banned at this point you are supporting the regime

you can deny it, and most will, but its true, and I said it

I'm not banned either.

Neither am I.  In fact, I have three alts available for $250 a pop.
I genuinely wonder how much money I can make by selling gaf accounts, -> create a signup bot, feed it email addresses ?? profit?

Anyone dropping by to note something like, "the game is the grind" from this post on is getting banned, BTW.

I literally just started as the Iron whatever dropped cause my son has been begging me to try it for like a year. You can go back and check the Destiny review thread

Yes the game is the grind.

Yes, there is an aspect of grinding that is inherent in every single MMO or MMO-lite in this case.

Avoiding grind in Destiny is like avoiding grind in any given MMORPG. It's sort of part of the point.

As someone who loves Destiny, I find it odd when people say there is no grind. Shoot, I'm was doing patrols, bounties, crucible, and strikes just to get my light level to 350 for days this last week. And the recommended light level is 360 for the new raid at minimum.

If you are looking for a story progression single player game then go buy an Xbox and play Halo. Destiny, at its core right now, is about redoing missions, patrolling the same areas, and teaming up with people to do raids and nightfalls (all of which are repeatable each week).

I'm having trouble believing a game like Destiny couldn't legitimately be described as a "grind", even if they've lessened the "grind" from what it was, originally.

Banning someone for that opinion is just  :lol :doge :lol

It is pretty nice having an account. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Especially for new game OTs. They're a good resource when I have questions while playing through a new release.

And let's not pretend being involuntarily permabanned is some kind of moral stand for the greater good  :heh
