Member berries are ridiculously strong for classic DKC fans. That and excellent David Wise soundtracks.

Still I think DKCR and DKTF are both pretty strong platformers (except for the rocket levels, fuck those), and it’s a bummer you don’t care for the game. For me, however, the pinnacle of Donkey Kong remains DK94 on the gameboy.

If we got down to brass tax, as stunning of a showcase of graphix and sound DKC was, it was a pretty shitty, floaty platformer too.

Also totally overrated.

I've never been able to get into the Donkey Kong Country games. I did get Tropical Freeze and it seems pretty solid to me, but I'd still rather play a Mario game. Specifically Maker. Quality is going to depend on the level and the physics aren't exactly the same when playing older-style games, but there's so many levels and so much stuff you can play/do that's it's just fun to check stuff out.

The demographic for this collection are people that haven't touched 3D Mario except for Odyssey, or people that have barely touched anything Mario since the Switch. Which is a lot of people and casual gamers in general. This is not a collection for people that own all 3D Mario games, nor is it for people that emulate games in general.

Nintendo price points have always been fucked in general. It's not really surprising that this is the collection being released.
