Really? It's pretty much exactly what I expected with more well thought out multiplayer stuffs honestly. They weren't going to make a friggin 4k portable.

I'm going to assume that no news is the same as bad news. Few launch titles, Tegra X1, and region-lock.

Shares drop 6.5% after lackuster announcement, but the Nintendo faithfull have a good answer

That drop is very mild, suggesting rather that the showing was satisfactory to most.

Yep, 6.5% drop is actually good and investors are happy

Watched the video : take care of your dog asshole ! :maf

Otherwise I don't know... I think this thing needs a decent online (OS) and some video streaming capacities. Curious about the carts they use as well ?

The design is OK and I like that it is rather compact. It is also cool that Nintendo is still focused on offerint solutions for local multiplayer.

People are going to buy three or four attachments, use them for the five or six games that come out in a year on Nintendo consoles, and throw all the shit in the closet or behind the TV. People will reminisce about Mario and Zelda, then Nintendo will move onto another dumb gimmick.

Developers can barely give a shit about Kinect, PS move, VR, tons of other gimmicky attempts of shit, they're not going to design a game around peripherals you attach to a Nvidia shield.

This is pointless innovation for the sake of relevancy, but it won't sell well. Basically Nintendo's MO at this point.

Also, based on Laura Kate Dale and Emily Rogers' reporting, the device is using a Pascal chip and will be under clocked when the device is out of the dock.  Once placed in the dock, there is apparently additional processing that happens.

lol, Nintendo fan fantasies

its Tegra

Nvidia says so itself...

You're an idiot.  The Tegra X2 is rumored to be used which is Pascal ased

3 hour battery life is  :fbm

But I suppose that's expected with a powerful gaming machine on the go these days.  Old Shields only get around 4 hours - iPad Air 2's doing heavy gaming only lasts around 4.

Maybe battery improves in the retail unit as opposed to the dev kit, but eh.

Thinking about it though, I never play a portable console more than 2-4 hours at a time when traveling.  But this certainly doesn't bode well for anyone wanting to toss this at their kids to shut up for a trip.

Touch screen is in too if the report about battery is to be believed.  Dock also improves processing so it should be clocking the system regularly when docked.

Probably dowclocks when not docked to save power, also only needs to output 720p then

Full power draw when docked and booatrd cpu/gpu to output in 1080p

Dunno why people are upset about 3 hours, that really cant be any different

3 hours is pretty rough.  I already get annoyed with Vita/3DS 4-5 hours life in high use game mode when I'm traveling.  I mean it's not dealbreaker, but it basically means it's not that useful as a portable system which considering it's going to succeed and kill of the 3DS is kinda of an issue...maybe.

Honestly, I don't know how this is going to work out for Nintendo in Japan.  Between being too big and short battery, in a country where consoles are mostly dead and handheld is preferred because of the usefulness in society, if Japanese kids outright reject Switch as a handheld and it sells more on par with console sales, then Japan will be left with no handheld on the market in a market that can still support a dedicated handheld.

In that situation, if I had to make bets, I'd actually bet the 3ds/Vita stick around and keep getting some level of support as the only handhelds on the market.

Another thought, which I think is actually more likely is that Nintendo releases a separate portable only version of Switch that's like 3DS or at least 3DS XL sized.  If it outputs at a lower resolution, maybe it can be weaker and smaller but still run the same games.

I mean originally I thought Nintendo was going to make 2 separate products that run the same OS like iphone / ipad.  Home console NX and portable NX, both run the same games (so it still fixes the Nintendo 1st party spread out between two systems issue).  You can share saves/games between the two, but they're separate hardware tailored towards the needs of each, with the console being more console-like and the portable being more 3DS/Vita like.  That way they'd capture the handheld successor market in Japan and the console market hopefully in the west.  The way they went with Switch seems more suited to the western world at the expense of possibly giving up Japan like how Sony has moved towards.

So Nintendo hasn't put shit all out in the last few years for WiiU, resulting in people assuming the next console would have an onslaught of software....and now we learn just about everything at launch will be a port.

The 3DS' battery is not much better  :doge

Yep, the world needs that battery life revolution, because nothing fucking lasts anymore.  I'm playing Zero's Last Reward on Vita and it's constantly running out of battery, I'm playing fricken FF Theaterhythm Curtain Call on my 3DS XL and it goes down to flashing red if I don't plug it in every couple of days just from minor play.  My PS4 controllers barely make it through one night's rpg session without running out and I have to charge them.  My phone barely makes it through a day without running out, my ipad needs charging every 2-3 days (although to be fair, compared to everything else, the ipad's battery is fantastic).

Where is our battery revolution?  :(

Isn't the Wii U Gamepad like 2 1/2 hours or some shit? I've never played the Wii U long enough to run it down, but that's what I herd.

I can't comment on this because I never play either of my Wii Us :(

My Witcher 3 install includes all the DLC and GOTY patch (which was like 12gb in itself).  Honestly Doom and Gears 4 are more eyebrow raising.
