This was better than E3 for me, holy cow.

Tasty can finally stop stanning Crystal Chronicles now that real FF finally makes it's way on Switch :uguu

Still getting CC day one because that game deserves the stanning. I'm excited for the rest though! Particularly XII and XV.

Just realized still nothing from Retro Studios.

Metroid Prime (2002)
Metroid Prime 2 (2004)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (2007)
Metroid Prime: Trilogy (2009)
Donkey Kong Country Returns (2010)
Mario Kart 7 (2011) - assist
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (2013) (assist)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (2014)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (2018)

By the time New Super Mario Bros. U launches it'll be about 5 years since they last developed a new game.

But yeah XII rules, I might just replay it on switch in spite of revisiting it last year.

I already have the portable version...

On my laptop. :kappa

:neogaf This is like the worst possible way they could reveal this (don't get me wrong, it's "cute" that they use their mascots but the features...), and I think everyone expected it given Nintendo's history and are STILL disappointed by it.

If it costs $20 to play Rocket League...  :joker

Well I'll be getting at least FFX and FFXII. But I mean at this point I guess the Switch is just for portable versions of games I've already played.

And the occasional Xeno game.

Nothing that would really hype me, but plenty of games I'm somewhat interested in. FF XII, CIV 6, NSMBU Deluxe. Yoshi Crafted World looked fantastic but we all now the gameplay will be for babies. It's a shame that all the smaller Nintendo franchises I really liked seem to be dead though. (Original) Paper Mario games, Advance Wars, F-Zero.

Apparently Japan is getting a cloud version of AC: Origins:

In the unlikely scenario of a phyiscal release, FF7 might actually be one old game that isn't a complete throwaway announcement. Most physical PS1 copies of the game here came with a mandatory German translation, which was a really horrendous amateur work that made the story plus other text literally incomprehensible.

Is WiFi super pervasive in Japan?

Better infrastructure in general- probably much easier to get everything upgraded within a smaller country.  Even out in the sticks I had insane-crazy-fast fiber Internet speeds.  Would play games like Soul Calibur IV online and wonder what everyone was complaining about, then moved back to the States and felt dat lag.  :'(  I think Korea is supposed to be the same.

Wtf is this

In Japan, there's cloud-based streaming games available on Switch.  Currently is Biohazard VII and Phantasy Star Online 2, IIRC.  I want to say that you can do a free trial on Biohazard, but performance outside the country is supposed to be kind of shitty.

Don't get why they didn't just do a port of RE7 directly.  The Switch can definitely handle it- the game scales down pretty well.

Lol nintendo wipes your cloud saves when your sub expires

*saves cannot be guaranteed for prolonged periods after a subscription lapses
**your local saves are preserved and can still be manually transferred between systems

Considering everything else messed up with this thing, this is kind of a non-story being manufactured into clickbait.

Nintendo Online what's not to like.

You can buy exclusive NES controllers for your Switch to play NES games.
Also you can pay for playing games online you could play for free before like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2.
You can enjoy voice chat with backseat players using your smartphone and the Nintendo Online app.
Plus you can backup saves of certain games in the Cloud automatically.

Just wait for 2019 and Super Nintendo Online.
For just $24,99 a month more you can now play Super Nintendo Games and buy SNES controllers for your Switch.

Sometimes people travel and when they travel they might take a system which has portability as one of its major selling points with them? :thinking

Those NES games are an incentive for an online service. Being only once a week really isn't a big deal, even when traveling. Yes, it's unbelievable how bad the overall online service is, but this specific requirement really is a non issue.

It just seems kinda weird to spend money and time developing a lock-out system if you've not checked in to block people from playing NES games.
Apparently they're afraid people will fiddle with the subscription dates(?) and then be able to play NES games unauthorized.  :derp

Everything about this Switch Online thing seems half baked (as are all Nintendo's online shenanigans).
They should've launched it as a virtual console subscription service (for the NES games and other consoles later) and kept the paid online play out of it.

In a few weeks (?) they'll release a downgraded gamecube launch game from 2001 for full price. Any other fanbase would give the publisher shit, Nintendo's speaking tubes like Gamexplain just talk about how smart this decision is :goldberg  While the rest of that core community would apparently take a bullet to protect a cardboard from jokes. One can respect that company's work in raising an army of braindead manbabies, but on the other hand they don't have to put effort into anything. I think only Metroid Chibi Party 3DS crossed the line for the majority recently, but even that had some reeee hardcores who demonized everybody who dared to not be grateful for that game.

Also the deleting the cloud saves thing isn't really a big deal, it's just a sign of them not "getting it". Nintendo could do nothing (aka just not delete the saves) and everyone would be okay with it. But them taking the extra step of purposely deleting them if you unsubscribe is just hilariously petty. :lol

The cloud save thing seems more like bad pr than anything. All they really said is "we can't promise they'll be there forever after you cancel your subscription".

Sony also doesn't maintain your cloud saves for more than 6 months after ps+ expires. This seems similar. I'm not even really sure why people are upset by it, other than they maybe seem to think they delete your local copies of your save.
