Apparently after you've done the ring puzzle, the battles are identical to Sticker Star 1 and 2.  :brain  Escaping is faster and also removes the enemies from the map, so there's no point to this. Like, okay, if you're doing an Action Adventure, do it properly like Super Paper Mario and not throw in this braindead fake RPG battle system that is better avoided completely until you reach a boss.

Played like 3 hours of Deadly Premonition 2. Seems on par with the first one so far. It basically all depends on where they take the story.

Looks like Nintendo will soon unveil some new games.

If I had to guess

1. Pikmin 3: Deluxe (August)
2. Super Mario 35th Anniversary (September)
3. Zelda BOTW2 or Metroid Prime 4 (November)
4. Super Mario 3D World Deluxe (December / January)

These predictions are never right so we’ll see. Having said that I still would be surprised if Mario 3D World didn’t make its way over. Thanks to the big success of Mario Kart 8 DX, Nintendo knows its easy money to just port Wii U shit over.

Deadly Premonition 2 has been wild thus far, I'm only a couple hours in. The first hour is a glacially paced interrogation, conducted by a very serious woman FBI agent and complete loser dude. Francis Zach Morgan is a retired, terminally ill and mentally ill stoner.

It's probably the slowest start possible and Zach clowns on the two agents, he's an incredibly broken badass. It's pretty cool and heartbreaking at the same time. Jumping back to York in 2005, it felt like meeting a best friend after sooooo long.

Deadly Premonition 2 has solidified the series as being its own thing, it's not a simple aping of Twin Peaks or detective shows. It feels like a sequel and expansion of something.

I accidentally punched an NPC in a buffet style breakfast bar and got docked $100 for excessive force  :lol

Truthfully, fuck the haters for this game. It's a game for Deadly Premonition fans, thru and thru.
OH!

Oh they know. There's a reason MK resisted guest characters until MK8 (not counting Donkey Kong.) They could make Smash Kart at any time and sell even more than they are, but I really get the feeling they keep moves like that in their pocket should they need them. And if Mario is popular enough on his own, they don't.

Honestly it feels very JP business to me. An American company for sure would be whoring their shit out to the max as soon as they got the Lego license.

This is the company that cockteased a mainline Wii U Animal Crossing for years knowing they'd never put one into production.

I think it was put in as a sort of 'tribute' by Intelligent Systems as they used to develop Metroid games.

Or they had this trailer planned for the E3 Direct originally and there was a segment following the trailer that included Metroid.
In any case if Nintendo has any holiday games they should announce them soonish as retailers are starting to see SKU's pop-up in their systems.

Chaotic evil me, kinda wants Nintendo not to announce anything until like a week or 2 after Paper Mario ships.

Just to see what happens if their release list is literally empty.

Lego stuff has been expensive forever dawgs. A friend took me to a Lego hobby store years ago and there were tons of similar sized sets that cost $200 - $400 dollars. A limited production (most likely) of a NES replica is going to double or triple in price in time.

Look up rare Lego sets on Google. First one that popped up was Hogwarts Castle for $400 from the Lego website.

samus returns wasn't A+++ or anything but it was a solid game. between that and prime i think having a western studio with oversight from nintendo would be the best way to develop future games. it's not like japan gives much of a shit about the series anyways.

For as long as I've been tracking this (which would be GameCube) unless Nintendo had a new system announced they would always at least have 1 video game listed with a release date (even if it got delayed).
Plus they always had their handhelds as well. So if no game was listed for system A, system B would have something.

Currently, Nintendo has to support 1 system. And they literally have nothing with a release date set after Paper Mario.
Which has never happened as far as I can remember.

No more creative freedom allowed for Mario spinoffs. :holeup :yikes

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/features/interviews/paper-mario-origami-king/
Quote
Tanabe: Since Paper Mario: Sticker Star, it’s no longer possible to modify Mario characters or to create original characters that touch on the Mario universe. That means that if we aren’t using Mario characters for bosses, we need to create original characters with designs that don’t involve the Mario universe at all, like we’ve done with Olly and the stationery bosses.

Whether a character becomes an all-time hit or not isn’t up to us on the development side; I think it’s more the case that characters that fans truly accept naturally end up that way. I hope that the origami siblings in Paper Mario: The Origami King will stay in players’ memories, even if they do only end up appearing in this title.

I can't believe a developer actually confirmed this shit, even though it was blatant for anybody who isn't a Nintenyearold.

RIP, it's never gonna get better than OG Paper Mario.

Come to think of it, these days even basic shit like Wario probably couldn't exist, because he came from those experimental Gameboy games that had no rules for world building.

I feel like something is lost in translation with that quote. I feel like he's basically saying he can't make a new Koopa kid or Goomba characters, but he's free to make new characters that are Paper Mario specific.

Which is basically what Mario RPG did?

There's nothing wrong with that quote. It's official confirmation of what was blatant for like over a decade now? Paper Mario Wii was one of the very last Mario spinoffs that wasn't forced to work with "Only Toad, Koopa, grass and lava levels". After that there only was like Mario & Luigi Dream Team, whose sequels then also cut everything that was original. The very little freedom that's left, as he says, does not involve the actual universe at all. So the best thing you'll get is paint buckets and penciles or generic frogs or whatever as new characters (or even worse, Rabbids  :yuck ).

Yeah that's what I get out of it too. Doesn't seem like it matters since they can just do whatever original stuff they want for their own game?

The problems with Paper Mario games are mostly gameplay anyhow, so this just seems like a side excuse for their game quality.
