I don't get this move unless he thinks plays well with his base for higher office somewhere in Kentucky.

Massie: Kentucky rep
Rand: Kentucky senator
McConnell: Kentucky senator

So what is the deal with Kentucky and why so fucky?

I’m sick of seeing this “the recession will kill more than the virus”. It’s such a bs talking point.
Au contraire, "THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE THAN THE DISEASE" is by far my favorite political talking point of all-time.

It doesn't make any sense. Even the "X deaths from it are better than the Y of a recession" are purely speculative (with X being absolutely, certainly horrific given current models) but even beyond that superficial level, do those morons really think the "economy" would run well with parts of the workforce being on sick leave, hospitalized at all times; workplaces shutting down on a dime for decontamination; a collapsing healthcare expected to run on overtime for several months and a neverending stream of funerals ?

But you know, the real violence is people joking about guillotines on a subreddit.

The Coronavirus Relief Package Includes a Major Tax Break—For Trump, Jared Kushner, and the One Percent
Senate Republicans snuck a tax code provision into the $2 trillion package that could be a “bonanza” for wealthy real estate investors—including the president and his son-in-law.

why is someone’s right to choose what to do with their life more important than their right to not get infected by a disease that’ll kill x% of the people it infects?

Literally instructing the head of the task force not to talk to governors because they aren't thanking him enough in the media. Gonna let people in Washington and Michigan die because their governors aren't kissing the ring hard enough.

The most deranged part is him saying it out loud rather than bullshitting about the reasons.

Elective means it's not time sensitive.

But these republicans apparently want late stage abortion instead

Meanwhile at the Biden campaign,
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/27/joe-biden-coronavirus-bunker-151302

studying 1918 political strategies
Quote
“We went back and looked at voting in 1918,” said Anita Dunn, one of Biden’s top advisers, “where of course turnout was down, but the election was still held, and Congress was still seated.”

Worried that attacking Trump is not the right thing to do
Quote
the outside adviser to Biden said. “As much as I dislike Trump and think what a bad job he’s doing, there’s a danger now that attacking him can backfire on you if you get too far out there. I don’t think the public wants to hear criticism of Trump right now.”

Like when he talked to FATS and yelled that people should vote for somebody else.
Quote
Biden thrives on personal connection; the pandemic has robbed him of the ability to meet with actual people.

Whatever this is
Quote
Biden told Jake Tapper on Tuesday. “But I'm not able to go down and hug them and kiss them, which I usually do. I'm just following the instructions that — and anybody who walks into the house from the Secret Service on, they're wearing masks and gloves.”

Maybe figure out how they did this in 1918?
Quote
“We’re thinking through what does a virtual campaign look like, and how do we ensure that Biden is able to have that one-on-one connection that he is able to form with voters when he's out in the real world,” said Bedingfield. “How do we create that online? We're experimenting with a lot of different formats on that front.”

Just stay alive Joe!
Quote
In their view, he can defeat Trump in a general election the same way he has almost won the Democratic nomination: just by being there.

Fox Business Network has parted ways with Trish Regan less than two weeks after the primetime host controversially called Democratic criticism of President Trump's handling of the coronavirus outbreak "yet another attempt to impeach the president."

“We thank her for her contributions to the network over the years and wish her continued success in her future endeavors,” reads a network statement provided to The Hill. "We will continue our reduced live primetime schedule for the foreseeable future in an effort to allocate staff resources to continuous breaking news coverage on the Coronavirus crisis.”

Regan, a former Bloomberg and CNBC host and reporter, also released a statement through the network regarding her departure.

“I have enjoyed my time at FOX and now intend to focus on my family during these troubled times," she said. "I am grateful to my incredible team at FOX Business and for the many opportunities the network has provided me. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my career.”

Why? Didn't the mother of his last ex say that her daughter left him cause he was literally unable to talk about anything other than baseball? Nothing wrong with being obsessed with only sports, but I guess I wouldn't go to you for advice on other topics.

Commissioner Johnson: President, we should maybe stop this ebola outbreak by demanding people stay quarantined.
President Jay Dubya:  Demand? *waves The Leviathan around*  No, here, it says on page 542 that the fundamental rights of liberty, along with free will...
Johnson: Half of  New York is vomiting and shitting blood.  This is the most contagious strain of ebola we've ever seen.
Dubya: Commissioner, riddle me this:  How can you have a fundamental right against disease, if you don't have one against tornadoes?  It go all twisty but you don't control the twisty, do you?  Look, there's this guy named John Stuart Mill...
Johnson:  Sir if I may take a little poetic license from our official manner of speaking, you are going to fucking kill us if you continue to do nothing.  The hospitals have gargoyles flying around inside them.  A gate to hell has opened.
Dubya: Back up, back up.  Poetic license?  What's next?  A license to make toast in your own damn toaster?

Somehow I think the delusion of American exceptionalism is going to set right back in a week after this thing is over.
