And after 30 mins on words of motion, the party voted abandon.

Yeah, we're definitely at the stage of the patch where everyone who knows what to do already has their raid gear and the people doing the raid now are just catching up and a lot of people don't understand the mechanics.

I'm good on this raid at this point. Just bought my hat/gloves for like 90k gil each and now i480 with WHM too. Will run the next Nier raid weekly and try to get to i485 with everyone so I'm ready for the 3rd raid tier.

I was watching comparison videos last night and the loading speed on a PC with an SSD compared to an OG PS4 with an SSD is another magnitude of difference. So I probably will hahaha. As it stands though the loading times on the PS4 with a standard HDD was ridiculous.

Thinking about it now and the physical architectural changes on the PS5 in regards to storage to Ram bandwidth... I'd curious to see how the loading times of this game would be like with as much throughput.

Should get to level 20 tonight

I'm 25 now and I can see what people were talking about with the initial portions of the game being a slog. It begins to come into its own when abilities start being threaded together. Plus the story is picking up.

Just won the Kan-E Senna card. I grinded for it a bit, about an hour of playing the same NPC. It's a 0.93% drop chance :lol people have grinded hours for it and gotten nothing. Holy crap.

Only got to level 12 tonight. Figured I could get to 20 given I got to 10 in one sitting on my first day.

Had fun and liking the story.

Going through the story and went through a dungeon where our tank was having connection issues. I basically had to tank and DPS a midboss as a pugilist and made it through by the skin of my teeth. Had to use the self healing skill, the DPS healing skill and a potion while kiting the boss around getting pops off until it was brought down.

I originally wanted to go the Ninja route but I like how powerful the Pugilist feels with their hard hits and AoE attacks. Now that I've become a monk I'm trying to grapple with the added abilities and how they all can come together.

What is the FFXIV RPG communities' fascination with strip clubs?

Yeah monk is my favorite job and the one I've played the most of. The rotation is pretty simple and fun. Later though they add plenty of stuff to keep grease lightening up.

I do feel like our aoe stuff is lame.

My friend and I have over the past days dabbled in the RP side of FFXIV. Which is very horny...

Originally it started off with me somewhat trolling RP's doing in public in Lisa Lominsa. I don't know how it happen, but one day while making fun of some rps using such role play lingo as "cute as fuck", my friend was approached by one of these people and "hit on". My friend was playing one of the bunny people and I guess they found "her" hot. So they invited him to their estate. I took on the role as the ugly friend and tagged a long and attempted to like the annoying friend take the spotlight. To the point of honestly out role playing the rpers as they asked as to tell a story. I told one of high adventure with enough thys and sayeths that would make a shitty fantasy author embarrsed.

Anyway, this kind of got us interested in this side of FFXIV. So having Eden done and not wanting to to start the patch story, we dug deeper. Visited the rpg "servers" and well found them wanting. It's mostly people flirting in the bars.

Well eventually we saw someone post a "we are having a party, everyone's invited" type yell in one of the cities. We decided to visit it and well it was one of the most surreal "this is like real life" moments I've had in the game. We travled to the server and then estate ward where the party was and we had that moment...you know the one where you and your friends are in the car, on a random street trying to figure out which house is having the party? That happen and it was answerd the same way, instead of watching other cars go to the same home, we saw game mounts going to the same estate. We go there and you have people that seemingly just logged in to play the door greeter. Thier macro just set-up to welcome and tell you about the drink menu.

At first it seemed empty as fuck, but as my friend went downstairs he urged me to hurry up and follow. And like those moments where your at the club and wondering if it's packed, I walked down and was shocked to see all those blue names.

Now again it's just people fake flirting and describing how they are aroused or whatever. Some fake fighting as well. But you also have people role playing bouncers and dedicated to just being the dude with a weapon in the corner. Now here we were told to check the Party Finder for role play events. And I did and what I found is a lot of "strip clubs".

So a couple of days we went to one of them. The Gilded Knob or whatever and jesus christ were the people dedicated to it. Complete with the waitress walking over to you, bowing, asking you for a drink, going over to the bar, and then brining back your drink that is just a potion. But the player estate was set-up with lounge furniture positioning and whatnot straight out of your local strip club.

Today we continued that and yeah the party finder was filled with strip clubs playing the latest Eden Raid music, making me believe the edm like battle themes were made just for this. The first was a "escort club" with private rooms. The more impressive one was another strip club, The Velvet Dragon and let me tell you guys. The one "stripper" there...well she was impressive. Now this is all dumb, but this chick was using the emotes to approximate ass shacking that it was almost a work of art. I felt the need to give her some gil and tell her "jesus did she know what she was doing". Like I honestly believe this person was a stripper, like most of these people just turn on their dance  and let it run. She used that eastern bow emote so that ass poped in your face. Make sure you switch to that first person view.

But these strip/night/escort club things seem pretty popular. Check your Party Finder.

Yeah the AoE seems pretty weak compared to others but I guess that's a question of balance? Seem highly geared for 1 on 1. Would be a great utility if it was just a little stronger but I realized how dangerous it could be when I aggro'd a bunch of easy enemies which become a mass of almost too much to handle blob.

On another note, I need to get my glam game going. I'm running around in main quest given gear and look like a dork. Trying to find something fashionable for a Monk while running around.

Oh and, just to to show where my priorities are, I'm already a lv. 49 Miner and Goldsmith but my poor Pugilist now Monk is at lv. 31 lol. I'm addicted to making HQ stuff and selling it at reasonable prices.

Apparently fashion is expensive. This is the best I could muster up right now.

Need better boots and pants but it's getting there. Was going to go with a traditional Monk look but decided to lean into Refns 'Only God Forgives' suave bruiser style instead. Hoping to add nice tight fingerless gloves when I find them. Everything is trash in the market or ridiculously expensive.

Yeah the quest design at the beginning is a bit ridiculous. I personally dislike how it has me constantly checking back in with a main quest NPC that isn't near a warp point. So I ha e to warp to a nearby town and trek to them constantly. Then get through two loading points to enter the building and area they reside in.

lmao that is hands-down the worst part of the entire story. there are still some dull moments in ARR, but that one is by far the worst. the whole premise is stupid enough, but then they drag it out for a fucking eternity. i'd bet anything that'll be one of the main parts that gets trimmed in the upcoming patch.

They need to let us skip the cutscenes for main scenario raids after we’ve seen it for the first time.  Getting the irregular tomestones through 30 minutes of cutscene mixed in between a few minutes of gameplay here and there is such a slog.  Despite giving less tomestones and disliking the dungeon, I find myself wondering if I’d rather run Aurum Vale over and over than do another round of the praetorium.

they only changed it that way a year or so ago, and i doubt they'll ever switch it back. before you either watched the cutscenes or you skipped them all and ran the dungeon. replaying it with the story scenes is tedious, but there's not much else they can do. it was just a bad decision that can't be unfucked.

Yeah I just came back in March after a long break after heavensward and didn’t remember if they ever were skippable.  I don’t want to be shitty about it, especially considering I was there for 1.0 and can attest to how good this game is compared to what it was, but there are times when the realm reborn scenario stuff is just a grueling slog compared to later content.

The reason they don't let you skip is that before, if you didn't skip you'd miss all the fights.

There is a reason they give double seals or whatever, it's a bribe.

Hitting lv50 soon. The dungeons at this tier are pretty fricken crazy.l in comparison to what Im used to. I did the second Immortal Flames dungeon and had a fire lit under my ass with all the AoE and massive damage indicators. As a pugilist it's a rough ride since youre always positioning while having to be aware of what's coming at you. The Chimera Boss kept fucking me up and had to learn to keep an eye on my party members and what they do if I'm flying blind to massive attacks.

I've fallen in love with this game in a way I never thought I could with an MMO. After level 15 the game just gets amazing. What an adventure. I love the story, I love the MSQ and my  class quests. When people in my party are on the ball, I love raiding as a white mage. I love healing randoms and just helping people. I'm in love with the community that's utterly nice. I just love the game.

This game gets better and better and this is the "bad" content. I've fallen in love with this game in ways I can't express.

Last night I saw some level 1's and 2's playing at the intro area. I stayed and watched over them, waved and said hi, welcoming them to FFXIV.

I also love to watch randoms fight with monsters and heal anyone that needs healing.

Never before has a game made me so altruistic.

Currently lv 22

It keeps getting better and better. There's lulls that come from the quest structure at times but the plot itself is enthralling. It feels massive in a way non MMO FF cannot achieve with room to breath. The expansions being far better in this regard has me excited.

Can't wait to never go through ARR again!

  ;)

I do have very slight nostalgia for parts of ARR like the beginning stuff of a new MMO, but at this point in the MMO, zero interest in any of that. Even the ARR maps feel mostly sucky (I like the cities and Limsa's fields) and flying isn't going to fix that.

Are they adding flying to the 1.0 maps? I hadn't heard that, that's dope for vets but starter zones will lose the vibe of everyone running around which I think really draws people in to MMO's. As happened in WoW, once flying is opened up the world gets a lot emptier.

Yeah, flying is coming really soon to 2.0 maps. Maybe next patch? Doesn't even require going around collecting the wind things, just being past a certain point in the story will unlock it.

I get what you're saying, but are there really people hanging out on foot in the ARR areas who are post-ARR? The only time I'm in ARR areas is to buy some stuff from an NPC vendor and I usually see almost no one in those areas anymore.

Yeah Limsa is where it seems most people hang out. With Uldah being popular on one of the "RP" servers.

Also check your party finder for some other hang outs.

Started leveling a Red Mage for something to do in the game right now and since the ranged caster role quest is the only one I haven't done in Shadowbringers. Gained a few levels and did some dungeons. Job is ok but just pretty simple right now in the rotation.

The hardest part of playing RDM at this point is not flipping off shit and dying. Already had boss fights where I flipped off the ledge and ded, tonight I started a boss fight with a dash in and flip out only to flip OUT OF THE ARENA AND BE LOCKED OUT OF THE BOSS FIGHT. Thankfully the new change to that system let me warp in, but lol.

That flip move is kinda of awful in the insane range it jumps back. You really have to know what is going on behind you. Already had times where I flipped back into an AoE way behind me and got hit.

RDM at least is sorta brain dead fun for mobs in dungeons. Jolt->the AoE one that evenly increases white/black magic then dash in and do the lvl.52 20 magic cost AoE slash slash slash.

I'd probably stick with RDM and get to Shadowbringers, but having gone from DPS -> Tank -> Healer in the last couple of years, going back to DPS queues, especially during a dead time like now is... :'(

Would level so fast just doing leveling roulettes in the 50s where I'm at if there wasn't a 30-40 min wait for each queue to get in a dungeon. Might just wait until 5.3 is out and people are at least back and playing again.

Played a bit again to get back in the hang of it. Did some runs with my Red Mage. I was going to ditch the job because I wasn't feeling it and go Black Mage for my ranged caster, but it's starting to growing on me. Will probably at least get it to lvl.60 and into Stormblood and re-evaluate.

Reading the patch notes and I like the idea of Unreal Trials where each major patch they rework a classic dead trial as a new modern trial for a limited time only.

While I'm not bothering with Ex fights for last couple years because I'm lazy, a limited time single ex fight every 3-4 months would probably make me want to learn it.

The first one is ARR's Shiva trial, now with i435 ilvl Unreal edition. I think the only question is whether these Unreal fights are going to be similar difficulty to a good current Ex fight, or whether they're be something crazy hardcore like the Ultimates for only a handful of people who play at that level. Hopefully it's closer to Ex level.

Also looks like Astrologian/Warrior got buffed/reworked for anyone who plays those.

Positive Touch

WOW they cut the ARR questline from 345 down to 290, and shortened a lot of the remaining ones. that plus adding flying in those maps will make the early game a thousand times less tedious. almost makes me want to start a new character lol.

and giving out ARR and Heavensward for free... literally months of free content. that is fucking mind blowing. i know the story was originally supposed to end next year with 6.0, but i'm sure they'll keep it going long after considering how huge the game has gotten and tbh i'm excited to see what they come up with. the game has come a long way from seeing those barren towns a few weeks after each patch drop, and a huge part of that is to how much care they put into the full experience instead of only whatever the new content is. i love it so much.

Yeah, all good stuff.

Already enjoying flying in ARR areas. Might actually bother doing the beast tribe stories in ARR one of these days now.

I am slightly concerned that a flood of free players coming into the servers for ARR/HW is going to make it hard to get in during busier times. Tried this morning and there was a short queue but that's normal on new patch day. I guess we'll see.

Will probably start doing the new content tonight. While I'm back in the mood for FF14 next few weeks might sit down and get RDM to 80.

Good stuff overall, but my I level is like 447 so I couldn't enter the NieR raid like a casual. Didn't think they would put up such a barrier without an affordable/easy alternative like in past casual raids where you just passively enter them.

I'm pretty sure the ilvl reqs are the same every time.

If you have money i480 gear is dirt cheap (well it was a few weeks ago) and Resistance weapon i485 is essentially free. Probably the fastest way to get there without running Eden catchup.

Played a bit tonight and just did the new custom deliveries unlock quests. Didn't realize there were already sidequests in the new Firmament section of Ishgard. Probably because I never go there lol.

It's nice to be playing this again. Especially seeing it populated. Nice game, lots of memories.

The Sapphire Weapon was great, ZONE OF FF

Also some nice cutscenes at the end and the budget for a small nice looking town. Good stuff.

so how is the story past 5.0? I haven't done any of it, seems this patch ends it.

This year's Moon faire outfit is pretty great. Worth the short grind.

I...don't remember 5.1 or 5.2 MSQ at all. But they were enjoyable. Just 5.0 had a pretty definitive ending so it's not like there's a lot lingering to wrap up this time around. Though I'll do 5.3 MSQ this weekend.

2nd Nier raid was alright. People have already learned the mechanics so you can just follow everyone haha. I do like some of the new patterns with the first boss.

Feels like a solid good raid, but I liked the first one better.

Finished all the 5.3 stuff. Pretty good patch. Lotta content. The final boss trial was real flashy, Ex version could be a cool intense fight. Might give that and Shiva Ex a try.

Not sure if I'll do the crafting beast tribe since this is the first xpac where I maxed all my crafters before it came out. Would just be doing it for the storyline and the mount/minion and $$$ from the mats.

Then again I do like tanks...

So Ascian plotline in FF14 is done. Pretty much everything is wrapped up outside the Empire which I'm sure next expansion will be in Garlamead. Can see why they originally planned the story through ending next expansion. Will be interesting to see where they go after that since it's all free reign.

Also will have to do an Ascian-less Empire plot which could be good or not. I just hope they don't lean too much on Zenos again. We've fought him like 5-6 times now lol
