Didn't Persona 4 have the Persona metamorphosis tied to Social Links?

P5 is my first Persona game and I like all the characters, even the moustache twirling cartoon villains.  :yeshrug

Just use fortune every time. You have millions of yen from the Mementos exploit. The extra time you free up can be used for anything. You could even catch the giant fish in the pond or some shit.

I wish I'd discovered Chihaya's abilities way earlier.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. It cuts down on the spending time with lulls AND doesn't waste time, so for 5,000¥ a pop out of my 9,999,999¥? Fuck yeah, I'll do that. I gotta fix Futaba as I didn't have the kindness at the time (due to using plant nutrients that weren't the Red Light District's version that can only be bought at night). So we'll see how I do, but I feel confident I'll be able to max all links.

Didn't Persona 4 have the Persona metamorphosis tied to Social Links?

Yes. P5 does the same for hitting 10 like P4. IIRC P3 had Persona evolutions for the party for certain story segments (like in the last half of the year), but I forget on that as it's been a while.

Hmmm, really? I guess I don't remember that from P4.  I felt like P5 was the first game I didn't get all my party member evolution and had to youtube them instead which was a bummer.  Maybe it was just easier to max rank your party members in P4?

Fifth palace ending spoilers:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
-Your party knows that other people know about the Metaverse
-Your party knows that somebody powerful had Futaba's mom killed because of her research into the Metaverse
-Your party knows that someone else has been going into the other palaces and likely causing mental breakdowns
-Your party knows that Okumura was directly involved in hiring people to use the Metaverse to take out people standing in his way
-Your party specifically mentions that they want part of Okumura's confession to reveal who is behind the mental breakdowns

And yet, somehow, despite all this, they are STUNNED when Okumura gets iced before he can reveal the plot and it takes them several days before they even begin to start piecing this together. Come on, fam. :neogaf

P6 should be in a university setting.

Or even a group of co-workers  :hyper

Having every reason to stay up late and do whatever because you're a grown ass MC who will deal with the consequences

You or some other party member getting shitfaced drunk during the night of dungeon crawling either benefitting or severely hindering your power, depending on the character

Legit romances with possible in-party scandals

Persona will never be in college.  That's a dream we just gotta give up on.  You can name on one hand the amount of Japanese videogames that take place in college out of thousands.  I've been down this road in many discussions with people in Japan, college games don't sell.  For some reason people don't have fond memories of college and it's just a thing no one in media ever talks about or acknowledges that those years exist.

Even Catherine wasn't college.  It was people working post-college.

Best were gonna get is P5 type stuff where it's about as dark and adult as it gets while still being "high school".  It'll never be adults because the school life sim is too much a part of the game.  It's kind of like the Trails in the Sky series has now run into the same problem and will never leave High School again because now "School sim" is part of what it's known for :(  Which is too bad because the games before Cold Steel, Zero & Ao actually featured a cast just out of various grad schools (Police academy, Political academy, and Military)

I just now finished the 4th palace, but I really like the cast so far.

Not quite as good as 3 but I prefer my P5 group right now to my end-game P4 group in terms of personalities.

Persona will never be in college.

Persona is basically anime in game form, and high school is by far the most popular anime setting.

September and October are definitely this game's low point unless it completely shits the bed in the end.

I'm at 10/5 and have maxed the following: Lovers, Priestess, Devil, Temperance, Sun. I'm really close with Death and Chariot, Emperor is at rank 8.

I tried following the guide, but couldn't end up getting the 1st palace done to the treasure in one day, which has fucked me. I've had to go off script for some stuff, too- getting my charm to rank 5 so I could waifu Makoto, etc. So, everything's kinda borked but I'm just going to max out the links I enjoy at this point, and then get everything in a NG+. That Rank 10 bonus from Kawakami, tho.

There's ones that have Mementos requests that I have to do and finish. But I'm waiting around to finish a few others since apparently the Moon S. Link leaves before end game, so you can't "free-time" that one.

I've got Sun, Temperance, Fortune, Death, Moon, Priestess, Lovers, and Strength maxed out right before the end of the sixth palace, with Empress, Devil, and Star very close to being maxed. The only other s-link that I definitely want to do is Hermit [level 5] and I think that should be doable with the time I have left.

Good to know. I need to get an SP 3 for Akechi. Maybe some meds if your hits like a truck is right. I didn't have too many problems with the fifth dungeon compared to Jack. I never ran into SP issues. Just used Ann's Medirama for healing outside of battles if too low and just spamming the mediums to the boss.

It really is stupid to add party member so late. Like I never use them because by then I already have found my grove with a party I like. Sure Haru has Psi powers but I've already counted on the MC covering that so it's like..

It was the same with Nato and all late joining party members in a JRPG.

Though at least now P5 has party switching mid battle. That helps.

Outside of enemies that are specifically weak to them, which are few, guns are pretty much useless. You have to use up an entire clip to get the same amount of damage output as any other attack and the amount of clips you get per dungeon visit are laughably small. So, your ammo will run dry from just a few battles of using them, so then you won't actually have any ammo for the off-chance that you come across one of the few enemies that's weak to them. Then, finally, towards the end of the game, you can craft an item to refill your ammo, but at that point, why even bother?

Should've made it where visiting a save room refilled your ammo.

Save MP. But yeah, there's so very few gun weak enemies that it's not really worth it.

Anyway, finished all the Mementos requests (so far) so that leaves the main story dungeon to do. Oh boy.

Guns are useful if you rank up the Tower confidant. One of the skills allows you to start every Ambush with a hail of bullets that will take about half of all the mobs health if your bond with the kid is high enough. Also, the Rank 10 skill allows you to ignore resistances completely with your weapon. Not to mention he teaches you a special attack which is an automatic Crit. I didn't think much of Guns either early on but ranking up that confidant changed my mind

Still absolutely pointless.

Also fuck the darkness maze. Got hit with an insta-kill because I was trying to get out of that area quickly to get through this story dungeon. :lol :'( So I'll have to redo the section in a little bit. Burned out on that.

These last few dungeons are a slog.

I think you need to be at least level 51 for the level 10 persona requirement.

Yeah, well, just wait until you get to palace 7. It's a sloooooooooooooog. Started playing around 10:30 this morning, stopped for lunch, and then played up until 7:00 before I finished off the boss.

The dungeon themes themselves aren't bad. It's just completely unfun. I don't want to go through a darkness maze to reach the boss. It's like "come on, Atlus..." there has to be a better gameplay gimmick for these dungeons than the ones they used.

Yeah, I'm using the ability and got through the first section before getting game-overed in the second. Which burned me out as it's slow going because there's no "map" for it to be able to blow through. It probably wouldn't be bad in future playthroughs, but it's an awful gimmick.

-It's the first place where there are tons of "no weakness enemies" that can kill you in 2 shots if you have weak armor.

-You probably have weak armor because they game autoskips back into the dungeon for whatever reason.

-When you reach the "end" by the cards the camera angle doesn't show the vent, so you probably would think it's by the other door that leads back into the maze. Especially since there's locked doors the first time going through.

-You could be stuck for literally over an hour going over the dungeon and checking every corner to make sure you didn't miss anything if the above happens. Meaning more chances of dying/wasting SP.

-The cat tells you you're halfway through, but you're actually 90% done. If you leave you're totally wasting a day.

-If you get the bonus items you have to play RNG games downstairs even though you didn't have to the first time around.

It's full of bad game design, imo.

Just think about how much better the last bosses/dungeons in P3/P4 were, that's when those games really hit its stride.

 The BGM is nice tho.

I just held L1 the entire time and that helped. Would've been awful otherwise though

Kind of late to ask but when you find the treasure but don't send the calling card, does the main party not become available for s-links until you send it out? I've got 15 days to burn but I think that's kind of weird. Sure, you might as well face the boss at this point,  it can we get some freedom?

Seriously?! I think I blew through it in about five minutes, including the time it took for fights.

Well, got through it and then did the Battle Arena. Easy peasy.

But "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Yeah? Well whoever holds Rakukaja, Physical Ointments themselves, and then watches Mjolnir beat the hell out of you in reflections posses the power to quickly get through that Battle Arena. :doge

Hey, they cheated. I get reign to cheat as well. :doge :doge
