NHL 2017-2018: Going the Distance
« on: September 18, 2017, 04:22:53 PM »
Preseason starts today!

We got six years of Pasta baybee! :delicious :rejoice

Let's see what our old friend Claude Julien can do with the washed up Habs-beens. :hitler

Feeling oddly optimistic this year for the first time since... 2013? Change of leadership got us into the playoffs when our four best defensemen were out. Combined with last years' rookies growing into themselves, healthy veterans, and some common fucking sense not to over-use Rask for 80% of games like they did last year, we might be able to go the distance. :jawalrus

spoiler (click to show/hide)
TBH I just want us to make it to round two. :brazilcry

There, now I can quote that when we crash and burn in Round 1 again.

Krug out for three weeks because of that puck, goddamnit. :goty

Tuukka looking good out there Thursday though. .967 SV :whew

A lot of people aren't happy about the stricter face-off and slashing calls.

15-18 penalties in a game? :dunno Hopefully it's just a preseason thing, games are gonna be really awkward and jerky otherwise.

Now that the games actually count.....

FUCK YA!  7-2 BITCHES! :punch

MATTHEWS THA GOD, 3 POINT GAME :punch

GRIZZLED VETERAN MARLEAU WITH 2 GOALS :punch

Not making any assumptions about how they end up doing this year, but woe to any team not ready for the sheer offensive onslaught this Leafs team looks like it can bring.

BRUINS WIN :rejoice

Lol those last three minutes were cray. 3-1 Bruins, then open goal for us, then a power play which gave them two goals to make it 4-3 right at the end.

Gotta be honest, I was sweatin' in that last half-minute. :whew

We're 4-1 for the last five. Key guys finally coming back from injuries, Khudobin proving to be a great goalie to take the pressure off Rask, Rask finding his groove after a shaky start back... maybe the thread title wasn't so crazy after all. :jawalrus

It's time to start paying attention to what Bruins are doing

11-3-1 for the last 15. :rejoice This bounce-back brehs. :whew And we still haven't played a game at full health yet this season!

The rookies are finally coming into their own, veterans are acting like it, and Khudobin's been able to take a lot of pressure of Rask (his win last night was his first since Rask's return, while Rask hasn't lost a game since his return.)

Gonna be hard to keep momentum going until game 82 but goddamn we're looking solid after an absolutely crushing season opening.

Hope :rejoice

The Bruins are still cruisin’, going 10-0-4 in their last fourteen games, their longest points streak since 2014. Tuukka Rask is 13-0-2 in his last 15 games.
