MGSV has one of the most open-ended, yet buttery smooth controls in a game and a level design that encourages it.
I played through all the sideops/main missions in MGSV and in every single op I was experimenting with some type of tactic/weapon.
Fluid gameplay that looks smooth and has no awkward animation cycles
I mean I don't think anyone will argue that the actual in the thick of it gameplay isn't great. It really is, the stealth, the shooting, and so on are fantastic. The actual bases and other locations are fantastic to stealth around in.
Too bad everything surrounding it is awful. I don't like PW, so PW2 is the last thing I would want.
Having to grind or wait for unlocks. I never asked for MGS to embrace RPG mechanics. I just want to play as Snake who is stuck in an area and must survive. Having to deal with boring and lame Mother Base is not what I'm looking for in a MGS. But no, gotta take on the constantly boring side missions and hope my equipment and Mother Base level up.
Not having areas feel like a continuous and presistint location like MGS1-3 sucks. I mean who cares if the world is open world if it's just a bunch of boring emptiness in between the places you want to go. Also, I loved when MGS had a set place and it's pacing wasn't cut up by helicopter ride after helicopter ride.
Remember fun boss battles? Gone.
Remember set pieces and cool MGS moments? Nope gone, replaced with the same boring mission after boring mission that has no MGS flavor at all. Also, have fun replaying copy and paste missions more then once.
And man was the story pointless. Adding nothing except somehow one of the dumbest and most unnecessary twists since.......well PW further shit on The Boss. No cool new MGS characters, instead character assassinations on Big Boss and Ocelot.
Just a bad MGS game.
