I honestly wish the mods/admins were participating. This is a wider community issue that they clearly have a stake in, too.

Has there been any commentary from site owners, admins, or even mods on the OP's points (and other posters' points)? I'm looking back pages and pages that I missed and I don't see anything. They are clearly reading the topic, as plenty of posts have been marked up and actions taken. Perhaps joining this discussion and engaging with the community would be constructive at this point? I know posters are asking for wildly different things, but we came here to ERA and transparency was a part of the original agenda when this new forum was created.

I think if women are feeling unwelcome here that's a serious problem worth looking into.

But if women or other minorities are feeling unsafe here then something needs to be done about it. I don't have the solutions to that but I would hope we can figure it out together.

There's been some talk and lots of bans lately about how the level of discourse on Era is unacceptable for a forum that claims to be "progressive". Setting aside the fact that this place can barely be considered progressive, I want to talk about the fact that while this is not new by any means, if men are noticing it too then it must be getting worse like all the bans. Whether it's #MeToo threads, or that locked dumpster fire about a Pro CoD player dumping his girlfriend, talk of pointless bans, or just any thread on women's issues, ever (females, anyone?) it's instantly met with a barrage of female defensiveness and misandry, plus bans. I had no idea the "please don't call women females" thread was going to blow up like it did, but apparently the idea of a woman(?) telling people how they should refer to women and getting shit on for it somehow surprised these idiots and led to more bans.  Let's not even go into what a mess gaming side is when you start talking about having a different opinion on sexualised designs and feminism in gaming, or, god forbid, Anita Sarkeesian- you can't even disagree with her without getting piled on by fucktards and banned. The thread the other day asked why so many men lack empathy, and in instantly jumping to shout WOMEN TOO, the defensive dudes on here immaculately disproved the OP's point: when it comes to men, there is no empathy.  Only bans. We're silenced and shat on (and banned), unless we need to be conveniently trotted out to make a point (then banned), and then we're shoved back in the basement and banned. Any discussion of the struggles we faced is turned around so that it somehow becomes our fault and we get banned. And before people jump down my throat and ban me, I am not saying all posters on here are like this. But enough are that it's a problem. I'm fucking tired of it. It needs to change before I get banned.

There is a reason why people demand action to any post that mildly annoys them. It is becaause the moderation on ResetEra has been so repressive that they now expect it. This is what the moderation team have cultivated. It has become entrenched in the culture of the site. So much so, it probably seems like an injustice against them if it doesn't happen.

With that in mind, it always amazes me reading the threads about how terrible the site is. It is a site where the progressives on it are now so entitled that they demand action and expect it every time a post mildly annoys them. And yet here they are... lol
