Didn't Sara Silverman do something similar a year or two ago? I remember she engaged some alt-right troll on twitter with kindness and he ended up changing some of his views or something, and a sizable portion either Era or old-GAF didn't appreciate that.

I think it pisses them off any time someone goes against their doctrine of people being irredeemable Nazis who should be cast out of society and shunned forever for having a few problematic opinions.

I touched on that (without any specific knowledge of the game or the character, mind) but yeah I guess they could be peer or family pressured into it, considering the vaguely pseudo historical setting, without it being too jarring if the dialogue comes across clearly that it's an obligation for patrimonial purposes and that the character bows to it without being especially thrilled about it.

I'm sure some people would get incensed by it regardless but what can you do.
