Not seen this case before, but I know it has happened before. I know of a few cases. One case in particular I remember people freaking out about it in a thread. A gay guy reckoned he had been attacked by Trump supporters and there was a picture of him with blood all over his face. it turned out to be fake.

Edit:Actually retract that. Having looked for an article, it wasn't proven to be fake. He was only accused of it being fake as no police report was filed. So

Looking for an article, it turns out it was not proven to be fake. He never filed a police report, which led to people claiming it was fake. It was never proven either way.

Edit: Also, the hospital never informed police either it seems. They are supposed to when someone who claims to have been attacked is treated in hospital.

After everything else, Kavanaugh, Covington, etc, if this turns out to be fake then there is no way back. All credibility is lost. The right will talk about it for days, and what can the Left say?
