Same here, looks to me like most of the “art community” is taking this pretty well, posting tips about composition and lighting for dark skin. Genuinely helpful stuff, especially for artists who don’t usually work with darker skin tones.

No, a dude in Japan making a dark-skinned character a tiny bit lighter is not a big contributor to centuries of marginalization and stereotypical attitudes towards black people.  It's a guy with an atypical choice of colors that actually likes the character.
