A manga adaptation sounds creatively bankrupt. An adaptation of any previous material sounds lame.
10 years from now I wouldn’t mind a new Evangelion from a new young creative team creating a unique spin that carries on the spirt and themes. Having maybe a loose connection. Like Diebuster to Gunbuster.
That's kinda what Gurren Lagann was, just more removed from Eva than that. Came 10 years after End of Eva, had Gainax staff working on it but a younger creative team.
The themes between the two series are completely contrary though... I suppose for something to be a "good" piece of Eva media, it would have to deal with themes of isolation, depression, loneliness, and social anxiety. Otherwise it would just be Eva in name only, which would not be a good outcome.
Yeah, 10 years, new continuity, new creative team... wouldn't mind
that outcome, but it would have to end up better than Eureka 7 AO and the FLCL sequels...
