While we weren't thrilled to have people living on our actual property, we tried to be considerate of their hardship and let them be for a couple months.

We started to find used needles in our lawn and that became hard to overlook because we have a four year old that likes to play in the yard. Then, they made a campfire I guess (because it was fucking cold, not going to begrudge them that) and accidentally set a bunch of brush on fire on our entire block. The fire department and police came and razed their camp afterward.

I think we thought we were being kind but in retrospect, it seems kind of dumb to not have asked them to relocate sooner? The needles and fire seem like pretty needless dangers to our children (insurance would have taken care of any property damage by the fire I'm sure, unless me knowing they lived there meant they wouldn't, not sure).

I wish the city would raise our taxes and help everyone out.

Well, I'm convinced that he's some kind of Covid Kingpin, hell bent on spreading Covid throughout the local Polish community. Well, if breaking social distancing is his aim, then he's a genius. A neighbour I get on with pointed out that he's got planning permission to knock down his garage and build an extension. This morning, 8am, there's 6 blokes sat inches away, enjoying a hearty breakfast, talking and laughing loudly, perfectly legal, perfectly lockdown compliant, radio blasting. Going to be listening to him for some weeks now, I imagine.

I hope the irresponsible fuckers families are safe, because it's amazing at this point that nobody in his orbit has caught the rona. As I type, 4 more blokes just arrived in a car.

There's no such thing as a good Empire. Ours was no different.
