This friend is more like my ex and I've stayed in their life as a friend for the past 3 years hoping they'd love me again. And yes they are aware of that. We would stay in contact every single day through text and online means, since they live in another state. Recently they started communicating with one of their online friends on the Xbox more often... at least I think so. I'm suspicious. I remember them telling me they were going to ask them for help with an achievement on the Xbox, and ever since then they have not been talking with me much anymore, and I have been feeling hurt and ignored over it but yeah I know correlation is not causation, but I'm highly suspicious. I think I'm understanding that saying right. But In general I have been struggling to be their friend and I have been in a lot of pain for a long time but I keep on holding on to hope, and I am really attached to them. I cant cope with the idea of them being with someone else and I don't know what to do. I have asked them if they liked that person last year, as we were all in  a group chat and they said what I perceived to be a sexual joke towards them, or less so of a joke, but they told me they were just friends. After that, as punishment they said they wouldn't allow me to interact with any of their friends again. I honestly didn't care. obviously I just wanted to talk to them alone.

1. They seem to like the same things.
2. I noticed they started playing a game this person likes out of nowhere. What's odd is that their Game pass/gold is ending soon, and they chose to play this game instead.
3. The drop in communication and response time/interest since they went to ask for this persons help.
4. Tonight I noticed they were in a party chat with them, and I have a hunch they've been talking for the past few nights. Like the night before I was going to help them with an achievement as they asked, but they said it was a bit of an inconvenient time. Which is odd, its like why the f&ck ask me in the first place then. But I bet it was inconvenient because they had plans to talk to them again I am sure, and I feel like I was just being used to help them real quick before I get ignored and tossed aside.
5. This person only lives 5 states away. I lived a bit closer but around the same distance. Didn't stop them from dating me, though the reason why it didn't work out was because they didn't like CA I think. They also left because they are in a bad spot and are depressed but how does that stop you from loving someone? It doesn't for me. But I've really been struggling with the idea that I wasn't enough honestly. It pushed me to attempting suicide in 2019, and I was shortly put into a care facility for people who were extremely depressed. It was intense counseling but I was too quiet to benefit from it.

So I want to know if something  is up between them but I have no idea how to ask without upsetting them, and sounding like an obbssesed stalker. Maybe there is a specific way to write it? If I find out that my hunch is true, then ill leave the friendship and be done. I just can't say goodbye as I don't want any regrets or to live with what ifs my entire life. It would be a huge step for me and id fall into a depression for sure. I'm very scared of being alone, and not having that close connection anymore. I think of leaving often when I get treated bad or ignored but the pain stops me, though I have left twice in the past but came back out of missing them.
I am aware my thinking is flawed. Its like I'm stuck in a wrestling ring, and I'm just getting beaten on over and over again, but I stay for the few good moments when the beating stops and they drink tea with me or something. I live for those moments. I think back on the good times and cry over them a often. But I'm exhausted. I've lost so much sleep over this pain. I often cant even eat or focus on anything and my life is just flying right by. I hate it. I feel like I'm stuck in a box of pain. I don't look forward to the mornings, as that is when I start feeling awful again. I have had mental breakdowns over it.
When I read my message here I sound nuts but I'm in a lot of pain. 3 years of this. And I don't know what to do. I don't want to say goodbye but this situation is actually pushing me towards it. I am so terrified they like this person. What do I do?
They already feel annoyed at me for bringing up the fact that we don't talk much again but it hurts. Its like they don't get that. You are ignoring me and it hurts you f&cking asshole, is what id honestly like to say but I am really nice and forgiving to them, even when they can be really mean towards me. Too afraid to get mad at them.  So yeah.
