You know this is killing him more than losing the election or anything else--including COVID-19, The Senate Races, impeachment, etc.

I'm thinking that every piece of Presidential Power will be tested like this over the next 12 days.
Wouldn't surprise me if he suddenly withdrew from Afghanistan or announced a sudden COVID lockdown.

Anyhow the blame game is on and most blame Mark Meadows for bringing in Rudy, Powell, Flynn etc. .
Jared apparently warned people not to deal with him anymore.

Seems like Twitter is just playing into Trump's hands by banning him. Just makes his supporters feel like he's telling the truth about this and the rest of his mad ravings.

Well, we tried the whole pandering to nutjobs to keep them placated for 4 years and it didn't work, so might as well just ban them from the public sphere all together really.

2nd decent day in the last 4 years. Fuck Trump. Fuck his enablers. Fuck the people who popped up on this board to crow about him post election. Our country still sucks but that piece of shit and his posse who have been enabled for the last 4 years at least get one day of eating shit before they get back to their steady diet of racism and hate.

The time to act was when he was calling actual nazis marching in the streets "good people", not two days after he incited people to attack the parliament.

This is just performative bullshit from Twitter because they see the writing on the wall that they are going to be the ones taking a huge chunk of the blame for this (and rightfully so).

This remains the best take on Twitter's implicit consent to Trump and his followers:

The best time to ban was before this happened.

The second best time is right now.

Regardless of Twitter's opportunism, it's still the right call regardless of timing or other context.

For some reason, I don't see any central or south American country taking in a disgraced US president fleeing after attempting a coup

High chances AMLO floated the idea to do it. The asshole  really wanted to be in Trump good side even when it was clear he lost.

no...no this would have a massive effect on pretty much everything and everyone

this isn't just about social media

"no provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider"

students are working on a collaborative document, or have a small group chat, or freakin email each other, and someone says something another person doesn't like...suddenly the site hosting the document or email is liable

youtube suddenly gutted of billions of videos since they have no idea what blurb buried inside a random video is going to offend someone

redlettermedia has shit on all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons over the years, and now it's as if youtube itself is endorsing those statements as true

someone uploads a picture to imgur that says "dominion voting machines were rigged" and the caption at the top says "can you believe the audacity of these people to make these claims?"  guess what...the image itself can be hotlinked without the context of the caption, and imgur is hosting that image with false information on it

the internet would be utterly fucked sideways in every conceivable way

Was it for a specific tweet/cartoon? Whenever one of you would post one of his drawings in here, I always assumed it making fun of Trump supporters by pointing out how stupid and over the top they are, had no idea they were supposed to be political propaganda taken at face value.

Next you'll be telling me this isn't satire.

Here's someone who warned about this thing and kept a close eye on Trumpverse as it unfolded.
https://www.gq.com/story/man-predicted-capitol-coup-interview

Some interesting points, like how the Trumpists thought the election was in the bag because Trump told them he was ahead in California.

He also highlights how the people that came there to protest expected to be part of 'something bigger'. Some actual plan to change the election result or for the military to intervene.
They were sort of in a 'now what' situation once they realized Trump wasn't going to send in the troops or do anything else. They were certainly there to arrest and judge Pence, Pelosi etc. on his behalf though.
But they were surprised that once they breached the Capitol Trump didn't give them any specific order and told them to go home instead. We now know that while the Capitol was under siege Trump and Rudy called Senators to pressure them into delaying the whole thing.

I guess.  It's also that I have been here a long time and in that time I have been racist, fat-phobic, transphobic, among other thigns, but I have been improving over the course of a decade and part of that was being called out on poor behavior.  I don't think Nintex is a bad person but I do think he can be better.

The president is “ballistic,” a senior administration official said after Twitter permanently took down his account, citing the possibility that it would be used in the final 12 days of Trump’s presidency to incite violence. The official said Trump was “scrambling to figure out what his options are.”

One White House official said there were initial internal discussions between White House aides and Trump of doing a “last farewell interview.” But, the official added, “I’m not sure if they’re going to come to fruition,” much to the official’s chagrin.

“I don’t want the lasting impression of this administration to be what happened at the Capitol,” the official said. “We have a lot of accomplishments of this administration that should be highlighted so that we can leave a good final impression.
